Seeing the sinspawn creature splattered with flammable oil, Dorin grinned maniacally and moved his free hand to cast a spell. "Spark!" He then looked up at the wooden, rickety stairs where Danaris and the first creature were located. Dorin decided to move to the upper level; it would also keep him out of the line of fire from Gar. (Move to Z8 on the stairs and upper level. Dorin will stand ready to use his spiked gauntlets against the creature if necessary.) "Danaris? Did you finish that one off?" the Varisian youth asked the armored cleric.

(The torch light source in Dorin's hand is also moving, but there should be plenty of light coming from the flaming sinspawn.)

Dorin was so surprised by the creature getting up right in front of him he hurriedly swung the lighted torch at the sinspawn, shouting out in alarm as he did so.

Torch: one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage.

I assume that Malc and Gar have been left without weapons.

"So, Malcolm, which do you want the short sword or the spear?" To everyone, Danaris says: "If we can gather together for a moment, I can pray for Erastil's aid. Malcolm and Gar look pretty beat up and it looks like some of the rest of you could use some aid, too. Then we need to decide what we are doing next."


With the keys , you have no problem freeing your friends but their equipment is indeed not there

Thanks all - good work! I will use the Short Sword for now. Danaris, healing is an excellent idea. Then we need to find our stuff and Ameiko.

Dorin leaned back against the wall, breathing heavily, finished with the sinspawn up in the corridor. Blood covered his hands, boots, and soaked his leggings. The creature lay dissected in various pieces before him. (I hope that takes care of the sinspawn.) He dimly heard Gar and Danaris talking below. "Cells...keys...oh yeah, we have stuff for them!" the youth said, regaining his senses. Dorin picked up the torch from the stone floor before the pooling blood sputtered the flame out.

Making his way back below with the lit torch, Dorin asked, "I thought I heard somebody bringing lockpicks, just in case." I knew I should have brought spare clothing... he thought to himself. The youth took off his backpack, getting out the waterskin and trail rations for Gar and Malcolm. "Gar, you might want a sword or my dagger, if you're going to be in the front again. I can use the crossbow from the back. That battle took a lot of my spells. But I did save the armoring spells for you and Malcolm. You saw how well Zees did with it!"

Dorin looked at the second creature on the lower floor, making sure it was in well-separated pieces as well.

"Aye it was good, the way you guys took those creatures down. And thanks for coming back for us." He takes some of the food and a deep drink of water. Between bites, I thought they might have saved us for fattening up, but the food was lacking."

At the proffered weapons, Gar will choose the short sword from Dorin. "Magic armor will be most welcome, seeing as I'll be swinging free till we find our equipment."

"Uh, yeah." Dorin said to the dwarf. He waved his free hand, making a spell and touching Gar's shoulder, then moving over and also tapping Malcolm on his shoulder. "Mage Armor." the youth told them. "It should be good for three hours, at least."

Dorin also took off his shirt, offering it to the dwarf. "Roll up the sleeves, and this will at least keep the damp off of you." he said. Dorin picked up his backpack again, adjusting the straps. He looked up, waving the torch around. "So." he started, "how do we go from here? That creature, sinspawn, wanted to run back down the corridor, but should we go back or explore first?"

I was going to take the Short Sword Gar, but if you need it, I will take the spear, unless of course, the Sinspawn had a bigger sword I could borrow, Robin?

@Dorin: What is the effect of mage Armor?

We could backtrack and head up the hallway where the Quasit bastard came from.

I can use a spear well enough. I thought there might have been two when I was offered one.

Gar takes the spear as Malcolm tests the heft of the sword. He gratefully takes the shirt. It is very tight across his chest, but warm. He also hands Dorin the crossbow back. He seems chipper but looks like Sinspawn excrement.

An invisible but tangible field of force surrounds the subject of a mage armor spell, providing a +4 armor bonus to AC.

Unlike mundane armor, mage armor entails no armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, or speed reduction. Since mage armor is made of force, incorporeal creatures can't bypass it the way they do normal armor.

So in this case with Dorin, 3-hour duration with +4 to AC.

I would rather explore here further and "clean the place out", rather than go to where the quasit seemed to have come from in the first tunnels. Does this prison link to anything and can we declare it "done"?

Zees, I think the only place left is the long hallway behind the statue. We didn't see the quasit come from there (as we were over by the glassworks), but it is the only way to go, so one can assume it originally came from there.

We attack like soldiers would. Aim directly for the heart.

Kast looks at his companions.

"How do you all fare? I have a bit of a scratch, but want to save my limited healing for the next battle."

Kast wants to go AA13 since that's where he believes the demon is. Gar, Malc, if you want any of my equipment, please take it. I'd like to keep the CI longsword, but would pass it to Malc and pick up the morningstar again.

Malcolm looks at Kast, then the rest of the group.

I agree with Kast, it is not such a good idea to be exploring in our current condition. We need to get Gar's and my items, get Ameiko and get out of here. We can regroup and revisit the exploration afterwards. The quickest way to all of that is to find the Quasit, now! If anyone has any clothing at all, I will gladly take some to cover myself. The magical Armor of Dorin should suffice for now. Also, we need to gather together before heading off so that Danaris can heal us all with the energy of his deity.

Malcolm seraches the immediate cells to see if perhaps the missing items are left nearby.

Dorin, taken aback by Kast's outburst at Zees, quickly acquiesced. "Uh, sure. All right. We go back and try to find the quasit and Ameiko." he said. Dorin took back his light crossbow and the boxes of bolts from Gar. He reloaded the light crossbow, selecting a cold iron crossbow bolt this time. "I just wanted to make sure nothing crept on us from behind. But let's go get Ameiko back too."

Dorin blinked. "Oh yeah." he said. Putting down his backpack again, he rummaged around until he retrieved three flasks of oil. Handing one to Gar, he said, "I thought if we threw oil at the creatures, like just now, we could set them on fire. It worked pretty well, don't you think?. Just put them in your pocket...." Dorin trailed off, looking at a bemused Malcolm standing in his altogether. Reaching down to his backpack again, Dorin got out a ball of twine, and used his dagger to cut lengths off of the thin rope. Making a loop, he tied off the cord on the neck of each, knotting the twine below the stopper. Then he handed the two flasks to the dwarf and the fighter again. "Ok, that should let you put it around your wrist until you need it." he finished.

Gar and Malcolm each get one flask of oil.

Thanks Danaris. That puts Gar at about half. Gar has the short sword, so you should keep the spear since you can use it without penalty. Not too sure about the flask tied to the wrist...and he doesn't want to put it anywhere else on/in his body...perhaps not everyone needs a flask?...And thanks to Malcolm now 10/20 hp

Two things: at this time, Kast has requested to take point. If you want to go ahead, Gar, please do. I specifically requested that we stay spread apart. robin, with your comments, I'm just not sure what you expect us to do...it's not like the town is going to help us rescue Ameiko. Or are we supposed to let her die? I'm not sure what your comments mean.

Kast will ignore the water and head to the doors, pausing as he gets close.

"If the doors are closed and voice is here, that would mean that the invisible demon might be in this room."

Kast will try to identify the source of the voice.

Upon hearing the voice, Dorin muttered "I'm not drinking anything evil calls 'sacred'." He looked around, making sure nothing was behind the team. The youth had the lit torch in one hand and the loaded crossbow in the other.

The doors are open and no problem with having Kast in front . I just had the rogue in front as a reflex
