Dorin saw Kast fall under the monster's second attack, but trusted in Danaris' ability to heal the fighter in time. Rather than heal Kast with a burst of Heavenly Fire, Dorin decided to use the beam on the intelligent monster. It had to be evil, to do what it just did to the party. Dorin tried to remember if any of his lessons had a creature like this. (Knowledge: Arcana 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8)

"Burn with Heavenly Fire!" Dorin called out, and a golden beam left his index finger, tiny red flames coming off of the beam to splash against the monster.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 (Kast might hate me for this, hitting the creature instead of him. Also, -4 for firing into melee.)

Dorin, it dropped Kast, so not in Melee at the moment.

Gar sees Kast go down faster than sodden sails. Knowing they are too packed in to fight effectively. Best fighter needs to get up front.

"Malcom! Get your armored butt up here! This thing is all teeth and claw."

Gar is delaying action until after Malcolm, who will hopefully step past him. Gar considered trying to tumble past this thing, But Kast makes the first square difficult terrain. and then trying to get through the creature. Two hard acrobatic checks, and if I fail I don't want to block the space for Malcolm.

Gar hears the satisfying thunk as Malcolm rushes by swinging his sword, but he has his eyes down on Kast. He puls him back from under Malcolm's feet so that Danaris might be better to reach him.

I'm sorry but as Gar said , fallen Kast makes the terrain difficult and so you can not charge. On the plus side , the charge was not necessary

Zeest cast Daze on the monster but sense his spell fail to find a target
Dorin's ray strike the creature wounding it and then Malcolm advance and his strike hurt the creature but it is still alive

Thanks for trying the new format. You need to share the file though. With the cursor over the file click on ACTIONS. Then click on SHARE. Select ANYONE WHO HAS THE LINK CAN VIEW.

Round 2 - Initiative 18-

Without the map I'm assuming the creature has cover and is in melee.

Zees is frustrated to know his spell was shrugged off. People have resisted it before, but this seemed different (Will a roll of 1d20 ⇒ 10 + ??? help me understand?). Zees pulls out his scroll of magic missile. He reads the words with just a bit of doubt as to whether or not this dependable spell will actually work this time.

Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
If spell resistance applies, caster level check 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7.

There might be several reasons on the top of your head. The first one you remember is that this spell is said to not work if the creature is too powerful . Another is that some creatures do have spell resistance . Another might be that some creatures like rats are immune to daze .

Dorin saw his ray hit the creature while Zees' Daze missed and Malcolm went for a more mundane approach to defeating the monster. The beast's arms raked at Malcolm, and Dorin readied his arm for another magical attack. Then he mentally counted the number of times he had used Heavenly Fire. Oops. More than half gone. He would need to save the rest in case someone was near death. Dorin switched to the frost ray instead.

"Ray of Frost!" he called out.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 (Lousy.)
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 point

I can see the map now, and from what I am looking at Gar, there is plenty of room for you to maneuver behind the creature with acrobatics checks. You can even tumble right through his space, if you like.

"Malc, keep 'im busy!" Gar times his moves, and squeezes past Malcolm and dives past the creature along the wall and comes up behind it.

Moves to k-13, l-12 and tumbles to M-11

Acrobatics vs. CMD -> 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

As he comes up to his feet, he lets loose with his adze.

Masterwork Adze attack -> 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Masterwork Adze damage -> 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Hoping to be of some use, Danaris moves behind Malcolm and prays for Erastil's assistance.
Danaris moves to L14 and uses his touch of good domain ability on Malcolm (+1 sacred bonus on attack roles, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round).

Robin & Gar: That should not impact Gar's action, he can just squeeze by on the other side, and use acrobatics to move through the skeleton's space to pop up behind it.

If the space is open south of the creature, I will move to that and attack. I don't want to try to go through its space, for if I fail I will be prone at its feet. Probably less than 50% chance to get through its space. If that space is a google artifact too I will wait. Sorry for the confusion.

I know you know this Gar, but in case it's not clear, Kast is angry...angrier than he usually be. Something ain't right.

Round 3 - Initiative 18-

Zees considers pulling out his dagger to fling it at the creature, but his head spins in this diagonal tunnel. If it was perpendicular to the compass he could reach the creature being the 6th one in line. However, the diagonal cooridor has somehow put the the creature 15' out of his reach. On the other hand, it has created weird gaps where he believes he can squeeze into. Zees moves to the 1/2 square of J16 and sends a ray of frost at the creature.

+2 DEX, 0 BAB, -4 cover, -4 melee, -4 squeezing
1d20 - 10 ⇒ (17) - 10 = 7

Hmmm. Shooting at a moving target past things blocking your view is quite different than plinking birds sitting on ledges.

Not much else to be done from back here except try for my 5% chance at a 20.

Seeing Malcolm and Gar at the front with the monster, Dorin couldn't get a straight line at the creature this turn. He stepped up beside Danaris (H16) and cast Dancing Lights again (to L12), to keep the tunnel illuminated. I'll shoot him with another cold ray in a moment. the young man thought to himself.
