Soon you realize that all of the entrances and side alley's seem to have heavy leather boot sounds and voices.

Larger scale of the alley way
You soon see clerics/wizards of Orcus leading black skeleton shock troops from four directions. One of the clerics yells out at Kalim in undercommon, "Halt troops! Don't step on the crime scene." there's pause as they approach scanning the death of the goblins and tentacle horror. "What did you see? The ranking cleric commands." Clearly he believes the guard disguise....for now.
The haloed tokens are the leaders of the troops. The colors are Orange, Blue, Yellow, and Red. The Yellow leader is doing the initial talking.

Felcitas manages to burp out the speak tongues spell in the nick of time just as the squads converge on your position. With that Kalim responds to a squad leader.
In undercommon: "Top-dwellers? How do you know this, did you see them and if so, why didn't you pursue?" The leader looks around then, "Did you see this battle as it occurred? How did this mind flayer escape?'
I'm going to need diplomacy and bluff checks.

Nym quickly fishes a little golden shovel out of his pocket mumbling a few words...suddenly a 10 by 10 pit opens under the (blue) captian and the two skeletons behind him.
Nym casts hungry pit. Reflex save dc20 to jump to the closest safe square. If fails:
Hungry Pit digestive: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 1) = 12 second reflex dc20 for half. Also 50 feet of fall damage.
The two on the adjacent squares need to make saves to or slide in.

Ok: I'm not going to reconfig the map except to move Grung towards the red leader. Also, remember that a surprise round is one action not a full action. So you can't retrieve an item and attack, or move and attack in the same round. You are limited to a move action or standard action.
As far as Kalim's attack, he couldn't really see what's coming down the alley in the G row.
