"Ah, mental magic and tentacles. I'm betting you have a lot in common with squids and cuttlefish."
Seeing Kalim zap himself nearly unto death, Karnog sighs, curses in dwarven, and touches the sorcerer to cast CSW. As he does, he draws a scroll from a pouch to his hand.

Grung moves to the door (MA) and opens it (std) and hears the sound of a scuffle. Nymn you don't see Desmond but you do see a horde of goblins and that tentacle horror pressing on your comrades. The bard is singing and Karnog is bent over the prone sorcerer.
I put Grung and Nym on the board but they are inside the building in the doorway.

Nym seeing the gaggle of monsters attacking the group springs out the door of the shop mumbling and reaching in his spell poach. Stopping just behind the Bard he creates a sinous line of flame thatslithers its snake like form through the goblins and tentical horror.
all goblins and TH need to make a dc 20 ref save for half as the Fire Snake takes the following path (Nym is at A11): B11,C10,D10,C9,D9,D8,E8,E7,D7,C7 (I think I match the coordinates correctly.)

Karnog steps back from Kalia and reads the spell on his scroll in hand.

Casting animate objects on the house to the west of the mind flayer, creating a gargantuan stone object looming over it.
It lurches to life and reaches town to smash the tentacle head with its stone walls and roof.

The creature hits the mindflayer with a crushing blow that appears to momentarily daze the creature, then instantaneously he blinks out of existence when the second strike tries to hit.
