Within the hour, twelve kuo-toa led by a monitor arrive at Ploopploopeen's quarters. The monitor is admitted and informs Ploopp informs him that he, is whip, and the prisoners will accompany them to see the archpriest of the Deep Father and are promptly escorted there.

The idol to Leemooggoogoon the Deep Father consists of a large ide cut roughly in the shape of a manta ray and stretched out on cords between two support poles. A dead, splayed out manta ray is pinned to the center of the hide. Two dead octupuses are draped across the top, their tentacles pinned together and painted with red and blue pigments. The idol reeks of decay, and the broad stone altar below the idol is stained dark with blood.

The archepriest of the Sea Mother steps foward across the span of the altar toward the kuo-toa waiting for him there

undercommon:
The time has come for us to acknowledge your divine vision and welcome it. I have brought these offerings. Will you not accept them?
He festures toward all of you, standing within a ciecle of guards behind him.

The younger archepriest replies

undercommon:
You are wise, father, I accept your offering in the name of the Deep Father. May their blood nourish and strengthen him!
A burbling cheer goes up from the surrounding Kuo-Toa, their fists raised in the air.

Lenthus whispers to the others, "I have a plan. If I use one of my spells (command), I can make the archpriest bow, thereby showing his loyalty to me, supposedly the avatar of Leemooggoogoon. If any challenge me, I can use another of my spells (arms of hadar) to scare them off. If you have a better plan, please tell me."

Before Lenthus leaves, Vothe will indicate a large stalagtite with a nod of his head and whisper "If we get separated, that's where we should meet up. This is probably going to get a bit crazy, especially if Lenthus' plan works. Which it will."

Take inspiration with you Lenthus, you'll probably need it.

I don't understand why we don't just bring down our wrath against the followers instigating civil unrest in the name of dark gods. We're here to eliminate the followers and bring peace, so why not just strike down their alter and their fellowship? Bryn looks around, I acknowledge that these creatures are likely tough with such number, but without a church or leader there is no fractured Sloobludoop. Then again, we struggled mightily against fish...

Lantern Lodge

Male

Lenthus can learn "bow" in undercommon prior to the ritual.

Kuo-toa parade around the altar in a wide circle as they chant. Part of their path sends them splashing and wading through the shallows of Darklake. You cannot tell one faction from the other, but you see the archpriest of the Sea Mother and his whip moving toward the altar.

Bloppblippodd calls for the sacrifices to be brought forth, and one kuo-toa on each of you jumps to do your bidding, along with a duergar prisoner. They prod you with their spears to herd you toward a slight depression 20 feet from the altar with a large grate at its center. The stonework of the depression is stained with the blood of innumberable sacrifices, and you can hear the gentle lapping of the Darklake coming up through the grate. The chanting grows louder.

Blopp gestures toward the alter, where upon her father suddenly attacks, striking her with his scepter. Kuo-toa loval to him surge forward to attack, while the guards that brought the characters forward stand in shock.

The archpreists and their followers fight.

The shallows now have kuo-toa crying out and flailing in the shallows of Darklake. Several are pulled under or strike at unseen foes beneath the surface, something most of you are all too familiar with. The water foams red with blood.

The young archpriest calls out Leemooggoogoon! as her father strikes a final, fatal blow, dropping her before the profane altar.

Another sound rises above the burbling cries of the kuo-toa. The dark surface of the water father out bubbles and begins to foam. A thick, oily tentacle bursts forth, followed by another. Then two monstrous heads break the surface, both resembling hideous, angry baboons with wickedly curved tusks. Both heads are attached to a single torso, and the monster's red eyes burn with bloodlust and madness. The creature rising from the Darklake must stand thirty feet tall or more, with water cascading down its back and shoulders. Upon reaching its full height, the great demon throws back its heads and roars!

Title says it all...Who wants to play the new chronicle Out of the Abyss for 5e. I will be using Adventure League rules for character creation.

Interested. Thinking Dwarven or dragon born fighter. Subject to change.

Dotting as well with probably a dwarven barbarian, but that is subject to change depending on what I get the itch to create.

I am so in!

Lantern Lodge

Substitute features and bonds

And I'll apologize now if you scroll to far down and look at Orcus.

My GITP 5e game is dead, and I want a new one. Is UA allowed (just curious I will probably do something divine)?

What level will we be starting at? First (I'm guessing), or 3rd (I hope). Also, are there any races that you don't want people to play?

Lantern Lodge

UA might be allowed with good arguement. Though this does take place in Forgotten Realms I will not include races from other settings, IE minotaurs, changeling/shifters.

Starting at first level. Obviously no Aarokocra. And as a personal note I hate dragonborn but they aren't off the table though I am much less likely to pick you if you make a character with that as your race.

I am looking for 4 to 5, though if there are enough good characters I will be willing to take up to 6.

Hmmm, I wouldn't mind making a storm born sorcerer. I had a storm based sorcerer gnome in 3.5 and loved the character despite him dying early. He basically woke up on a beach one day surrounded by ship wreckage and a huge scar. He found work as a terrible entertainer for ships at sea, complimented with my terrible singing voice.

Otherwise I was considering either a paladin or druid, but I need to look at the adventure set up a little.

I really want to try out a Sorcerer in 5E as I have yet to and it is my old main stay. But I am also up for almost any other class if the party could use something else.

I'm interested in playing 5e. Haven't played this version yet. Where can I find the rules on character creation? All I have are some of the basic books, like the player's handbook and such.

I would be interested. I have moderate experience with 5e. Could be interested as NG Drow Paladin or LN Human Warlock of the Fiend. Whichever one works.

Really any character would work, I just prefer those two classes. The Warlock would be like a lawyer. Someone who made a deal with the devil on even terms. The drow would be like a researcher, who only wants to learn about all these silly looking demons! But they keep attacking him! So now he has to kill them!
...Yeah!

I think I want to make a half-elf Order of Devotion Paladin or a lightfoot halfling Stormborn Sorceror.

I'm wanting to make a Human Warlock who gets his abilities from the Great Old Ones without realizing it. Would that be possible?

DekoTheBarbarian wrote:

This is a cool character concept. I made a mistake on my last post. The Drow would be a girl, and the warlock would be a boy.

I've played that character before deko. He thought he was a paladin actually.

When would you be deciding who gets in?

Well for fun I made Bryn the paladin and Wellby the sorceror. I'll keep an eye in here.

I think I like Bryn more.

The idea is there, I am just not sure how it would work thematically since you have make a pact in order to gain the abilities of the class.

I would like to make a decision by friday.

Backstory, or what has come before:

Born the son of travelling Vistani, Vothe travelled the world with his parents, helping to put on shows, sing, tell stories, and anything else that would be required of him. His parents loved him fiercely, and the rest of the caravan treated him as their own. All of that ended the day the men came while he was out gathering firewood. At first, he didn't even notice the men, who sat on his family's stools and said nothing. He could not take his eyes of the body of his dead mother, who lay on the road naked and exposed to the world. The sound of the men speaking broke his reverie, and he realized that they were no ordinary murders; These were drow, who all wore an insignia that he recognized as being members of the Bregan D'aerthe, the elite mercenary company. "Boy" said the leader with a voice like smoke and shadow "Come here."

The next thing he remembered, he was crashing headlong through the woods, faster than he had ever run before. He ran until he collapsed. He remembered making his way back to the camp days later, after the men were gone, and getting his mother's lute. The next few years were a blur, with him focused solely on survival. He somehow made his way to Baldur's Gate, and he spent several years there living on the street and doing his best to survive. He finally took up pickpocketing to survive.

That was the decision that changed his life, when he put his hand in the right belt pouch; the belt pouch of a travelling bard and harper by the name of Fenris who had a standing bet with anyone who tried to pick his pocket: Sing the ballad of Khelban Blackstaff, and you would be allowed to take 5 coins of your choice from his purse. No one was more surprised than Fenris when Vothe not only sang it, but did it in multiple tiering (which is only really done in the high courts of Waterdeep).

True to his word, he offered the boy both his coin, and a place to stay of the cold. Tired of running and fighting in the streets, Vothe gladly accepted; Thus began his training in the Harpers, a secret organization whose goal is to prevent abuses of power and protect the weak. Vothe travelled with Fenris for 3 years before Fenris sent him to Hillsfar to study some ruins and get some adventuring under his belt.

As instructed, Vothe made his way to Hillsfar, and found a room at the inn while waiting for something to happen.

My alias is a work in progress for Bryn.

I'll write up a backstory for Lenthus.

Done. Let me know if there are any issues.

I could see some interesting role playing going on between Byn and Lenthus.
Cause Byn has: Flaws. Bryn lets his need to win arguments overshadow his friendships and harmony.
And Lenthus has flaws. I feel the need to solve any arguments I hear, and cannot abide injustice.
I forgot to give a physical description for Lenthus, I'll do that now.

...and I have a copy. I am just waiting on seeing the rest of the characters. I wouldn't worry too much about equipment or any possession for that matter.

Oh, forgot alignment. Knew there was something. He would be CG.

On weekdays starting the 8th, I'll only be able to post after 3PM, would that be a problem?

I think I'm firmly planted on Bryn. I've never played much FR, but I got swept up reading about the Triad and Ilmater, and it all suits the wandering masterless paladin concept I had.

If I can play, I'll be Lenthus unless requested to do otherwise.

No, as long as you post at least once a day and don't mind me botting you from time to time. What time zone are we talking about?

Don't mind the botting. At the time I post this it is 6:37 PM. And I live in BC.

Okay, I am back from a vacation, so I am going to build a character now. Are spells from the elemental evil player companion available? Sorcerers get some really nice elemental spells from there.

I think I will build a Ranger, Rogue and Sorcerer and the decide who I like best.
