Looks good so far. I am giving Torillian and Deko until 9/4 at 4:30 PM EST to post characters. As of this moment I am taking the four characters listed above. In the meantime you guys may feel free to roleplay to get to know each other. Seeing as how you are all locked inside a drow prison when the game starts.

Okay, let's get some roleplaying started then!
Aten's face is contorted into a sullen frown. He ponders bitterly, being captured by the Drow is not how I expected to return to the Underdark. Even less so being stripped naked and left to contemplate existence. He looks over his fellow prisoners with a suddenly sympathetic eye, knowing that they were likely to be even less prepared than him for the horrors to come. Perhaps we should get to know eachother? If we work together escape might not be impossible. Contemplating endlessly won't get me or them anywhere.
So he breaks his thoughts with a simple quip, "Is anyone else having as bad a night as I am?" He tries to crack a smile and mostly succeeds with a wry twist of his lips. "I'm Atendarius Kraye by the way, but you can call me Aten. Or Kraye if you're the sort for surnames. I figure we're all friends here since we are likely to be the last civil beings any of us ever sees."
Kingsley the Cobbler
Kingsley rolls over on the floor, grumbling slightly as he awakes from his short nap when he hears the half-elf speak. Letting out a rather large yawn, he pushes his massive build into a sitting position and stretches his arms out. King peers at his cellmate with interest About time someone broke this silence.
Deciding it might be a good idea to lighten the mood a little by offering his name, King speaks up as well. "Hail there friend. My name is Kingsley, Kingsley the Cobbler. Though you can just call me King." King's voice was deep, but somehow comforting. "Things could be worse, that's for sure..." He scratches the back of his head, a very pleasant smile crosses his face followed by a small chuckle. The least I can do is raise morale if i'm stuck in this place.
Haha, I figured so since we're prisoners.
Lenthus Dilwam
Lenthus hears the two people talking through his meditation.
kill them! Rip out their hearts! The drow may be willing to make a contract. said Axthres, the devil in his head.
Shut up, drow aren't stupid although these people might be. But any allies are welcome, and they seem friendly enough.
He looks at the other two. "Things could be worse, and may be soon" He opens his eyes "My name is Lenthus Dilwam. Do any of you know anything about where we are? I'm not so acquainted with the underdark. I spent most of my time as a traveling judge." He leans back against the wall, awaiting an answer.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
Bryn has not felt so naked in quite some time. The loss of the symbols of his faith left his sour to his company even if they are all in cells the same as he and most likely are missing possessions they too are attached to. When a voice echoes through the dungeon, Bryn rolled to his back from his side and stood while two more broke the crushing silence. I'd gone mad if left with only my despair too much longer. The dwarves always say it is the man alone who allows evil to infect his heart, and sitting in the dark with my own thoughts would only serve to prove the right.
"I know not where we are, but I'm confident I could return from whence I came given an opportunity; not that the knowledge will gird my loins," Bryn peers into the dark attempting to see if any of the colorless forms in cells could be who he is addressing, "I am Sir Bryn y Rhosynmelyn, but you are free to address me with parity as my title and standing have little importance... I must say, while this is not my first encounter with the evil plaguing the world beneath this has been my least favorite. I enjoy living within the Faerun itself, but I can't say I enjoy the drow hospitality as much as my dwarven hosts." Bryn tries to wipe the silt and wetness from the side of his body with a hand damp from the floors and walls before adding, "Is anyone injured? I likely won't be able to reach you except for my encouragement, but these cells are barely tolerable in good health."
Kingsley the Cobbler
Kingsley takes note of the other two voices, looking towards where they both came from. "Aye, i'm sure we could all make it out of here if we work together, though for now it's best to be patient till we have a chance."
He lets out a heavy breath as he shifts himself on the floor, trying to find himself a more comfy position. Things are going to be fiiiine, I got friendly enough cellmates. King quietly nods in silence, agreeing with his own thoughts.
Kings gaze was constantly trying to pierce through the darkness, trying to make out what he can. "You know.. for this being my first time locked in a cell, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but you're correct Sir Bryn, the dwarven hosts are much better." A heavy sigh escapes Kings lips as the image of strong booze, good company, and a loud bar sinks into his brain. What I wouldn't give for a drink right now.
Atendarius Kraye
Aten finds himself with a genuine smile after listening to his new 'companions' speak. Even if I am to die here, it is nice to know it will be in good company... But they all sound like men with useful skills. A prison break is seeming more and more likely.
"Well met Kinglsey, well met Lenthus and well met Sir Bryn! Ever and again as I was dragged through these tunnels by our captors did I imagine I would die alone in this pit, but alas it seems death may have to wait." His new found contentment and optimism seeps into his voice, "I imagine our captors may be listening to us at this very moment, but it would likely be prudent to exchange information on our talents. Does anyone know if they understand common? Many Drow do not."
Lenthus Dilwam
" Well met. I believe some drow understand common, but I'm not sure about these ones." Lenthus opens his eyes. "I've heard many drow priests can understand demonic, but I doubt they would deign to see us."
Demonic?! Demons! Kill them all Lenthus! Kill them all!
Ignoring Axthres, Lenthus says "I do not intend to die down here, but I am afraid if we were to make any plans, I could not take part, unless you are willing to risk them hearing, or any of you know a fiendish language"
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
Bryn tests the door again to no avail. "I am versed in but a few languages myself. Maiṁ apanī mām̐ kī jībha bāta, i glas planina, kīḻe kuśukuśukkunnatuṁ"
Commas separate the languages as well as the clauses.
Bryn pauses briefly before adding, "I have heard many... rumors about the peoples of the Underdark, and those of the drow may be the most fearsome and queer. I would gladly attempt escape before becoming some half-spider's pet! Damn them if they think I can be tamed!" Bryn spits with the last exclamation and takes a breath to calm himself. Steel yourself, everyone here has been left to rot in a cell too; a knight should be a beacon of reason and not ranting loud enough to draw attention.

I would love a chance of playing and would play a rogue. I own the PHB but am not familiar with adventurers league factions or character creation. Is there still room? I maintain a good and consistent rate of posting across multiple PbP games. Is Alternate human available?
Hitting the intertubes over at wizards.
Question: Can I alter my background skills some? Soldier starts with Athletics and Intimidation but I'd like to change one of those skills to survival and play a military backgrounded rogue...
Kingsley the Cobbler
Kingsley gives a heavy nod in agreement towards Bryn."I would rather not become a plaything as well, besides I'm only good at fixing footwear." I wonder how my shop back home is doing.. the regulars aren't going to be too happy that I've been gone for so long. With that thought in mind, King goes on to ask an open question towards the group."Anyone have an idea of how long it's been since we've all gotten down here? I got important customers with appointments I can't afford to miss. Also, I am only fluent in common and dabble in undercommon, though I know enough to get by. As for escape, it seems there's not much we can do about it currently, so we're probably better off being patient." As Kingsley spoke, he seemed more concerned about the condition of his shop and customers rather then his current situation.

There is room to submit your application, however it closes at 4 PM EST tomorrow. Yes Variant Human is allowed. 27 point buy. No CE or NE. No Aarokocra. Standard equipment.
Altering backgrounds is fine. As long as it sticks to the rules.
It should be noted that I hate Dragonborn and do not like Drow as a playable race. My face will contort when I see those submissions.
Vothe Rowan
From a further down cell comes the sound of groaning, of the type the typically accompanies a terrible hangover. "Where in the name of all the gods am I?" comes a subdued cry from the cell. A young man leans against the unforgiving bars and says "I can't have gotten that drunk, can I?"
Taking in what the others are saying, the young man adds "The name's Vothe. Vothe Rowan. I'm a wandering performer. Any of you particularly good at tumbling locks?"

Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
"Surely you are more than a mere cobbler, my liege! How does a humble shop owner with a grandiose name end up in this dank dungeon?" Bryn does some simple exercises to occupy his body waiting for an answer when yet another voice pipes up in the darkness.
"I wish the situation were less dire at the moment, but we are stuck waiting. I fear King's advice to wait might be our best strategy for now. The drow are known for there craftsmanship of metal, a trait I would only dare say the dwarves admired outside of their company," Bryn pauses to think and continues saying, "I believe they call this dark metal alamandium or something similar. I never did have a head for metallurgy." Bryn then continues his exercise thinking a silent mantra. A weak body can't bear another's burden, a dull mind forgets its duty, and without will justice shall be lost to anarchy.
Atendarius Kraye
Aten sighs, but knows the others are right. We must wait and better assess the situation before making any plans or attempting any escape. Still he answers Vothe's question, "Greetings Vothe, I too am a travelling performer. You may have heard of my troupe, the Silverkin? I am sad to say that my studies with word, instrument and acting have not given me skill in the opening of locks."
Then speaking to everyone he says, "Best that we all get as much rest as we can, while we can. Likely when we have the opportunity to take flight from our chains it will come swiftly." He closes his eyes and begins to hum a gentle, relaxing tune.
Kingsley the Cobbler
Letting out a small laugh when he hears Bryn's question, King scoots from his butt and onto his feet to give his legs a good stretch. "Would you believe me if I said bad choices and chance encounters?" He walks over to the bars of his cell, gripping onto them, looking beyond his small cage before he shifts his gaze in the direction Vothe's voice carried from. "Hail, the name is Kingsley, I am but a simple Cobbler." King turns his attention once again onto Aten's general direction, letting himself get a tad lost in the tune of his hum. Aye, patience is a virtue.. it's best we rest.

Ril Trausch
A small lean man quietly observes the banter between the prisoners.
Escape? Magic may serve but get me some wire, maybe a nail? And I'll see if I can do anything that may help with the locks around here - far easier.
He extends a hand.
Call me Ril.
Helaman here - haven't chosen a feat yet and the background is not deep - I've chosen to make Ril a Dalesman, which is close enough to what I *think* is the starting point - I believe the adventure starts in Hillsfar? I'll spuce up the background some and make it a bit more up to date - thinking he has been doing mercenary or caravan service since leaving the military to make ends meet. Rank is Corporal. He's not mean or charismatic enough to make Sgt but should have made corporal for his 10 years in uniform
Ironically Tempus, god of war is not really soldier friendly as any good soldier knows that the best fights are unfair fights, when tactics and trickery put the odds squarely on your side
Vothe Rowan
"So, we're in the underdark, eh? well, that makes sense. Nice to meet you all." At Aten's introduction, Vothe says "Yes, my teacher Fenris mentioned them, but I have never had the chance to hear your troupe play. Do you specialize in an instrument?" To Lenthus' question, Vothe says "I know a little magic, but it's mostly healing, and certainly nothing that would help me escape from a cell that I can think of." and then, much more quietly and to himself, Vothe adds wistfully "I wish I knew where my lute was."
Ril Trausch
Feat aside which I will find later in an hour or two, Ril is more or less ready to go, including appearance etc. Faction included now as part of profile. Do I need a DCI or player #?
Ril looks at him expressionless for a long moment before saying I'd say a missing instrument is the least of your issues. Look around some - lets see if there is anything I can use as a lock pick.
Cursing silently for the lack of decent light he continues to examine his surroundings for anything that may help. His wiry frame twisting side to side within the cell.

After some deliberation I have decided that I will take the six of you. So Vothe, Atendarius, Bryn, Lenthus, Kingsley and Ril get ready to venture into the underdark. Oh, and after looking at some of these encounters have back-ups ready.
I will have a campaign created in a day or so along with a gameplay post. I will post here when it is done.
hiiamtom
Nice, a full crew. I have a good feeling about the game regardless of how long a paladin lasts in these circumstances. I think I have a good shot if I can make it to level 2.
As for backup, I've gone barbarian, ranger, fighter, and now paladin... So I'll keep working down the class list. I'm also just now realizing I have never, ever in years of playing played a wizard. I might do a wizard as a backup, but it'll depend a lot on the story.
