Swim Check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Just when Aten manages to pull his head above water a sense of vertigo grips him again, dizziness piercing his thoughts as he slip under the surface.
Is this my punishment for enjoying thanksgiving!? Curse you lake!
Kingsley the Cobbler
Kingsley tries his best to keep himself afloat.
Swim Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
He then lets out a grunt as he makes a swing with his war pick at the ray's surrounding them.

So, no resurfacing?
Lenthus moves his hands underwater, trying to fool the Ixitxachitl with the illusion of a disturbing fish, the kind that used to swim in his parents pond. The fish moves slowly and threateningly towards the Ixitxachitl, opening its flapping jaws wide.
Minor illusion to create an illusion of a creepy fish. No verbal components. for the fish, think one of these, but 5 feet long.

Ril tries swimming again.

As he starts sinking, what little light is available quickly vanishes. Vothe is exhausted, but still tries to kick out towards the raft.

Even if you succeed at the saving throws, you're still unconscious. If Kingsley or Shuushar can save you, that could work. Too bad my fish illusion didn't work.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
I think I'm dead unless someone drags me to the surface very, very fast. Since I'm also in the center of the enemies this might be a cut and run, especially with the drow having gained on us. Don't overextend yourselves just to save em and turn a player death into a TPK.
Vothe Rowan
Retconning my action from above, since I was unaware of what exactly was going on:
Intelligence check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
After having been pulled up, Vothe will take stock of the situation and will shout "Where's Bryn? did he go down as well?" Noticing Aten, Vothe will shout to be heard "Help me find Bryn. I think he's drowning." I will give Aten Inspiration

I believe I was still underwater, unless a 13 lets me resurface.
Lenthus tries up.
Swim: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
And fails.
Damn it! Axthres, take over for a while, I'm running out of breath.
yes Lenthus.
Lenthus's eyes glow with a foul yellow light. His hands burn with power as they carve arcane symbols into the water as an unseen hand carves symbols into his staff. Above, the others hear one thing. A series of words, rumbling with eldritch might.
"Help! I'm drowning!"
Casting minor illusion
Atendarius Kraye
Aten struggles into the boat and turns to cast a dangerous bite of frost at the frustrating creatures of the lake.
Frostbite on the Ixitxachil attacking Kingsley, if I need to roll anything to get in the boat let me know.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 141d6 ⇒ 5 Success.
With Bryne, Aten and Vothe safely on the boat that leaves Ril, Kingsley and Lenthus at the whim of the Ixaxtichatl.
Lenthus resurfaces for a moment and then goes under again. His illusion is effective and it calls some of the beasts off who attack relentlessly.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 and are now pissed as they relize he isnt even there...and you made the DM waste a crit. Gain an Inspiration.
Kingsley continues swimming..1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 but goes under, without being able to get the proper momentum he elects to grab the manta ray and bite him.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
1 + 3 + 2 = 6 But the manta ray quickly slips out and he retaliates against the poor cobbler.

Ha-ha! Take that you fiend! he yells in his head as he bites onto the manta ray. Quickly letting go and once again making a climb for the surface.

King gasps with air as he returns to the surface, making another swing with his war pick at one of the rays.

How far away am I from the manta rays? I also realized that swimming is a move, so I can do this stuff.
Axthres uses Lenthus's body to create another illusion, this time of a young cow, splashing in the water.
I hope these aren't too intelligent. he thinks, drawing Lenthus's dagger
Action to use minor illusion, draw dagger as no action. The illusion probably wont work.
Atendarius Kraye
Shuusar actually brought Bryn to the raft, so someone should stabilize him.
"Kingsley, Ril to the boat!" Aten swirls his staff and a beam of frost crashes into the Ixitxachitl still fighting Kingsley.
Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Ril Trausch
That was deadly
Ril curses silently at the events of the day and over his stinging wounds but he balances this in his mind At least no one died today and I've had worse wounds before.
Lenthus Dilwam
"Hello people!" Axthres looks around happily, finally focusing on Vothe "Do you know how great it feels to have a body again? I'll only be here for a few minutes of course, but its nice all the same. Oh, sorry, I don't think any of you have actually talked to me. I'm Axthres," he holds out his hand, not to anyone in particular. "And the swimming! It was invigorating. We don't have proper swimming places in hell. They're all too cold or too hot."
Ghiv Masdara
While I appreciate you wanting me to get into the game really quickly, I think that might break immersion a bit to have a druid suddenly pop into being on the raft they just swam to....I mean the first thing I would think would be Why didn't you help when we were all drowning! I might hold off on introducing Ghiv until the group makes landfall, or sometime else soon.

Hours 28-31: 1d20 ⇒ 15 Encounter 1d10 ⇒ 9
Hours 32-36: 1d20 ⇒ 5
After narrowly escaping the jaws of death from the rather intelligent Ixitxachitl, the group encounters an extremely tight passage requiring some expert navigation.
I need someone to be the navigator and roll A Dex check to navigate the boat through the passage safely. If you have proficiency in Water Vehicles you may add you bonus to the check.
Lenthus Dilwam
No one has water vehicles, and Ril has the highest Dexterity, so it should probably be him.
Lenthus uses his knowledge of boats and water from his childhood, to point out things to help.
Use the Help action to give whoever is navigating advantage.

I was thinking Vothe would be the best choice with Jack of All Trades. If anyone was Guidance now would be a great time to use it. Techincally it is a group check so I am not sure if help would apply here or not.
EDIT: PHB 175. To make a group check, eveyone in the group makes the ability check. If at least half the group succeeds, the whole group succeeds. Otherwise, the group fails.
So everyone Dex Check.
