Thats a hard question... we are still escaping our captors and while we have food for now, we'll eat it all in a day or three even with living off the 'land' for one of those days... how many people will a boat hold? I believe there are about 15-16 of us? 3 Boats? with each boat holding 5-6 people?
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
A rowboat travels at 12 miles per day in still water, and I assume a crafted raft would be a similar speed. That means if everyone eats their fill when they get on the boat, and we save enough rations for one more day, then we have enough food to travel 6 days by boat before we run into trouble.
The bigger question is whether anyone has proficiency? Because otherwise we might be in trouble on the water when things (inevitably) go south.
I think we should make more than one boat in case on gets destroyed stranding us in the water.
Lenthus Dilwam
"Yes I am tired. But I wasn't saying make a giant shoe. I was saying if Kingsley applied some of the principles of shoe-building to boat-building, it could go faster."
I have 2 days worth of rations, so that could help on the boat.
Lenthus Dilwam
I know none of the principles of shoe building would work, but Lenthus has been on watch a lot, so he is not thinking strait.
Lenthus, you have to stop this! It will not work. Now be helpful and build a boat!
"Sorry everyone. I'm very tired. I'd like to get a good nights sleep once we are on the boats."
Lenthus starts gathering materials for the boat.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
We need at least 3 boats. There is 14 of us, so 4-5 people per boat and then if one is destroyed the wreckage would need to be towed behind a boat and we fill up the boats with 6 people. Ideally we need at least 4 boats, which I'm fine with taking four days now that we have a better chance in a fight.
As for food, we need 9 rations the day we leave and at least 14 rations on the boat before people go hungry. That means those with higher wisdom and survival should forage to build our food stocks up while the boat is built. We can gather water easily at least.
My proposal: the NPCs help build the boat with Kingsley and I, the rest of you take shifts watching for trouble a distance away, and go foraging. The people with the best modifiers need to go forage. I can feed 5 people a day on land and maybe a fraction of that fishing from a boat (DM's discretion), but we need to build up a food supply for travel.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
I'm far from a shipwright, but I know how to use tools and the holiness of a hard day's labor. May the Broken God bless our endeavors with unwavering endurance. Bryn helps Kingsley break down broken ships to lumber and keels, and follows King's instruction on how to assemble usable crafts for the group.
Lenthus Dilwam
Lenthus starts taking watch, trusting Axthres to help look when he gets tired.
"an advantage to having a devil in your brain, is that you don't have to focus as much on everything," he mutters. "Uoinotai, am I talking to myself? I need sleep. "

Assuming the drow don't catch up with us that is, though why they'd bother with chasing down a handful of mere slaves is anyone's guess. One would think they'd have bigger issues on hand with the demons we saw
Lenthus Dilwam
Well, it's a plot. I'd say the drow will be coming after us, just because it adds an extra layer to the story. Either way, we should act like they are catching up.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
What if we do something different? We build a fortification day 1, and take our time. We have combat supplies to last a while and we have water. By foraging we can build up a food supply that will last us across the lake and then some... I know it is counter intuitive, but if we have the upper hand to begin with we can survive a battle that pits us against Drow elites. I still would like to keep moving, but it's a different option.
Also, I picked up an herbalism kit. What would it take to get supplies to make Potions of Healing?
Lenthus Dilwam
Yes, we would have the upper hand against the drow elites. But they are drow elites, and we are level 2. Elites. Multiple. Plus didn't they have a priestess or something with them? I'd rather not fight them even if we have the upper hand.
Lenthus will keep on watch and forage.

Aten continues in his attempts to forage when he is not on watch duty. However, he finds himself easily distracted by the strange sights of the underdark.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
Bryn reviews the supplies and looks grimly at his companions, We are not built for foraging as a group, it appears that we only have found enough to keep us alive as we go... We can't live off mushrooms on the darklake. he pauses and adds, We have bodied and we have boats, we need to push ourselves to not stop and hope for food at the end of the day. If we row in three shifts we may be able to cross in a third the time, but it means there is only one rower and one lookout - if anything goes wrong we could be in peril.
We have good backs in me, Kingsley, Eldeth, Ront, and our prince but I'm not sure we have even nine people to take a shift rowing. We need volunteers... Bryn obviously doesn't like this all or nothing strategy.
It seems incredibly risky to row nonstop, but it would mean moving at an incredible pace. Who is trained in athletics?
Vothe Rowan
Vothe will still work on making/salvaging boats and going through the wreckage to look for useable stuff (even finding useable rope and sail would be a big help).
also, I'm not trained in Athletics, but I get to add half my proficiency bonus to Athletics checks.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
9 NPCs + 6 PCs means at least 3 boats to leave... But we can stay and fight while they escape. It is the noble thing to do. It is at least what I am doing, I will be standing my ground - javelins stuck in front of me behind wooden cover ready for the drow tracking party.
Anyone can stay and fight with me, or they can retreat with the boats. But the only thing Bryn knows is that not everyone will fit on two boats and someone has to buy the boat's time.
Lenthus Dilwam
Lenthus stays near the entrance of the boat, and fires off an eldritch blast as soon as the drow are in range. (He is not in the boat, just making sure everyone gets on).
"I really want to survive this. Drevab!"

Aten...
Ril holds until after Bryn
Lenthus...
Bryn due to your fighting style you are supposed to only reroll 1's or 2's not the entire pool. So i would prefer you to roll the 2d6 and then another roll if either of those is a 1 or 2. However the point is void because the attack misses.
