Well, exactly three of you make it which means that it is half and you succeed. So you successfully bypass the narrow passage.
Another four hours of uneventful travel and you can see Sloobludoop in the distance, another hour or so of rowing to safely reach the port when you are intercepted by a Kuo-toa patrol boat. The nine koa-toa have their nets ready, and call out in undercommon, Give up! You have been captured in the name of the Leemooggoogoon. On the boat you see another prisoner, a deep gnome, with his hands bound in tough gut, entangled into a net.
Lenthus Dilwam |
"What did they say? Leemoogogoogoo-what?" Lenthus looks to the others.
"I suggest we surrender. I didn't like the sound of that last word. Too many syllables. Shuushar, do you think we would be granted passage?"
Vothe Rowan |
"We have already surrendered ourselves to the mighty Leemooggoogoon, and are carrying out his will. Are you trying to stand in his way?"
Well, it can't hurt to try and convince them. Let's see how stupid they are.
Bluff Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Ghiv Masdara |
Am I the gnome?
Ghiv Masdara |
Ah. Company! Such a lovely day for company! the bald gnome says without much cheer in his voice
Ah. I say dear sir. Do shift over a bit would you. he says to a kua-toa and the fish man roughly kicks him No manners this lot. None at all.
Atendarius Kraye |
Aten winces as they are captured, Once more shackled. I hope this does not become a habit. He decides to reply to the surprisingly cheerful Gnome, "I don't suppose you are enjoying the thought of being sacrificed any more than we are, eh? When the time comes would like to 'dance' with us?"
Ghiv Masdara |
By all the spirits of the Underdark no! Ghiv exclaims at Atendarius' words I very much dislike dancing...
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn |
Can I use searing smite and burn the ropes? Might be useful.
You seem confident, gnome, Bryn states simply, The last companion with the same confidence... dissapeared suddenly.
Bryn bides his times until they can mount another escape, hoping he can rest some before entering battle again.
Ghiv Masdara |
Another chap with no manners... Ghiv grouses
It's a wonderful day! I've made new friend, no matter their manners!
DaWay |
Your hands are bound in cured guts not rope, it would take a sustained fire source not a quick exposure.
Your begin your journey once again as prisoners headed for Sloobludoop when your boat of captures runs into another boat full of Koa-Toa who start talking in their fish tongue and eventually when the tide turns abandon their ship. The lead Koa-Toa introduces herself, I am Ploopploopeen archpriest of the Blibdoolvpoolp the Sea Mother. She answers my prayers by delivering you. Help us, and you will be rewarded for your service.
She then has her minions cut you free of your bonds.
Ghiv Masdara |
A most wonderful day!! More friends Ghiv says, his voice much more morose than his words should convey.
Ghiv says I once helped a chap named Guppibubppoog out of a tight pickle. You wouldn't happen to know him? to the new Kuo-Toa
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn |
Well, it's sustained for up to 1 miunte, is that enough time?
I am Sir Bryn y Rosynmelyn of the Triadic Knights, and I too am a servant of the gods. If you free me and my companions from these bindings we can help you with your problems.
Ril Trausch |
A task eh - life and freedom in exchange for something dangerous I am bound. Yet I don't think the drow will find us here... I think we should accept.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn |
Even with you quoting it I was blind to the line at first :) Bryn would be like:
I am Sir Bryn y Rosynmelyn of the Triadic Knights, and I too am a servant of the gods. As you have freed me and my companions, I must repay that debt. Please let me know how I can help, if the cause is just I'm sure these others will join.
Lenthus Dilwam |
oh, a sir. i will make sure to bow to your all encompassing greatness your majesty. i exist to lick your boots and-
Shut up Axthres.
"What do you want us to do?"
DaWay |
Upon Ghiv's comment, Shuushar places his face in his hands, shaking his head in disappointment.
My people have lived in harmonious service to the will of the Sea Mother for quite sometime. Oh there were occasional "visionaries" who stirred up trouble. She casts a walleyed glance at Shuushar, but nothing of any great concern. A few weeks ago, Bloppblippodd, my own daughter experienced a powerful vision ofLeemooggooggoon the Deep Father, proclaiming him the new god of their people. She has backed up her claims with a great invrease in her magical power, and new followers have flocked to her.
We are split in two Plopploopeen explains, fighting among ourselves. The followers of the Deep Father have been making an increasing number of offerings on his alter- Killing blood sacrifices then casting bloody chum into the waters of the Darklake where it is consumed by ... something.
My proposal is this. You will be escorted by my guards as prisoners, but work to infiltrate this meeting. You will then rid me of this following. As the Deep Father needs sacrifices you represent a prized lot, and I will offer you as a token of peace and reconciliation to get you closer to the archpriest of the Deep Father. I want you to disrupt the upstart factions rituals, allowing my true believers of the Sea Mother to cut off the head of the cult. For this aid you will be well rewarded.
Ghiv Masdara |
Ghiv frowns It's always best not to interfere in someone's business...especially if its a family squabble. But, I owe Guppibubppoog a favor. Will he be there?
Lenthus Dilwam |
I'll be ready to go whenever you guys are done talking. Just assuming Lenthus is listening to the conversation and fiddling with his staff. Amusing himself with minor illusions of animals.
DaWay |
We have some preparations to make first, I will take you to my place at the Shrine of the Sea Mother.
A nine-foot-tall statue stands here. Its body is roughly carved from some kind of wood in the shape of a humanoid female, its head and forearms formed from the severed head and claws of a giant albino crayfish. The parts are lashed on with strands of gut, and emit an overpowering stench of rotting shellfish. Shells, brightly colored stones, mushrooms, and rotting fish are piled at the statue's feet and strung in garlands around its neck. Four stern kuo-toa slowly circle the statue, alert and on guard, while a few others mill about, gazing up at the statue and bowing repeatedly while chanting.
His home is a simple hovel-like yurt. He speaks frankly, Please forgive, but you don't seem well equipped. Is there some basic items I can get for you.
When making these requisitions, please remember this is a simple fishing village of fish. All they would have would be light armors, and mostly simple weapons. Please accompany your requisition request with a Persuasion check DC10. Anything outside of what they would have may be requested with a DC 15 or 20 depending on the demand.
Lenthus Dilwam |
"Studded leather armor and a focusing crystal please. You can have my staff if I can have the crystal."
Leather: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Arcane focus: Crystal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Ghiv Masdara |
Ah manners, its what separates us from the animals you know. Ghiv says I would like some tea. Redcap fungal tea.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn |
Your generosity knows no bounds. I could use some medicinal herbs to create potions from, or the healing potions themselves. I would also take any heavy armor you have... and two nets. I would ask for a silvered weapon, but that may be a bridge too far.
Herbs: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Potions: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Armor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Nets: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Silvered Weapon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Lenthus Dilwam |
Ril said he would be away, do you think one of us should get him equipment, or should he just make the appropriate checks when he gets back?
Lenthus Dilwam |
Not sure exactly what he wanted, but I think it was a shortbow or a hand crossbow. I'm gonna say shortbow, so sorry Ril if I'm wrong [also shortbows only take a DC 10. Also, 40 arrows. If Lenthus can take the help action, he will
Shortbow: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Advantage?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
20 Arrows: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Advantage?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
20 Arrows: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Advantage?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
DaWay |
I did mean 1 persuasion roll per character not per item. So, I'm going to take the first everyone rolled.
Aten?
Bryn you are brought an herbalist kit, 2 potions of healing, a nice breast plate with a sea motif, and 2 nets.
Ghiv you are brought what is said to be a nice tea, but truthfully stinks of rotten eggs.
Kingsley It's been a week since you last posted. Please post whether you'd like to continue the game or want to drop.
Lenthus is brought some studded leather and a focusing crystal.
Ril gets a shortbow and 40 arrows
Vothe you are told that they could not find any crossbows but they have brought you 6 javelin.
Atendarius Kraye |
Aten contemplates for a time. What do I really need now that I have a trusty staff and clothes on my back? Wait...
"Do you happen to have any stringed instruments? Particularily a viol? I know it is an odd request but I have my reasons. I could also put to use any dyes, make-ups and similar items and some writing utensils would be a treat, perhaps some healing potions too. A bag to carry everything in would be wonderful as well."
Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Boom, nat 20. Aiming for the viol, a makeshift disguise kit and paper/parchment/journal plus pen/ink or similar. Did I get any healing yet? If not I would not mind some healing potions as well, 3 HP is playing it pretty dangerously.
