"We should stick with weapons here. Something is going on with the magic in this area!" Shouts Vothe, who then loads and fires his crossbow at the centipede.

Incoming heals for Bryn. Anyone else need healing while I'm at it? Keep in mind that if you heal while we rest (either short of long), I add 1d6 to the amount you heal. Might save you a HD use.

5 Duergar and their Steeder mounts. Steeders look like giant tarantula's who have been equipped with pack and riding saddles. The group immediately stands up putting their meals to the side. Looking at your group they immediately start talking in a different language.
Lenthus Dilwam
Lenthus whispers to the others in common, "I suggest approaching this peacefully. We are not in a condition to fight all these people. Perhaps they could sell us some equipment?" He turns to the Duergars, and purposefully lowers his hands to his sides in a gesture of peace, keeping his hands away from his dagger. "Do any of you speak common?"
Bryn and Vothe, your time to shine.
Lenthus Dilwam
Will we have to do survival rolls for the stuff we have already done? Also, the foraging has been done by the people with deep delver, so that wouldn't need Survival checks, would it?
Atendarius Kraye
Aten smiles a roguish smile and offers a hand to shake,
Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Atendarius Kraye
Aten's eyes drift to the Duergar mounting the Steeder briefly. I hope they aren't planning on taking our crossbows by force. It would be unfortunate to have to kill the first beings that have tried to talk to us.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
Bryn steps forward to discuss a deal with the Duergar, Поздрав, добри трговци..
I'm offering 2x Daggers, 2x short swords (1 damaged), 1 chain shirt, and 100ft of silk rope and a gold coin (estimated value 90GP; 4 for daggers, 15 for short swords, 50 for the chain shirt, and 20 for the rope)for 1 set of Chainmail, 1 maul, and 10 javelins (90GP value; 75GP for armor, 10GP for the maul, and 5GP for the javelins).
Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
I suggest anyone that wants to upgrade sell their hand crossbows for something else, they are very expensive. A shortbow does the same damage but doesn't allow Crossbow Mastery stuff. Probably a worthy trade even if you want the feat eventually.
With the trade talks underway, Bryn also suggests trading the hammer and pitons he carried for a set of clothes for the entire group. It would only afford the most simple of garments, but would be more pleasant than the disgusting rags they currently wear.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
Common clothes are 5sp, so a set for 14 is 7GP. My Pitons and hammer only gets us to 1GP and 5CP, but I can through in caltrops and my broken shield for another 5GP (half value for being broken) and my caltrops for another 2GP (two bags). Overall the equipment I want is worth 97GP and I'm offering 102GP worth of goods for it. Narrow margins, but margins none the less.
Ril Trausch
Will they take my hand crossbow and my broken one, and two cases of bolts (one used) for a shortbow and 40 arrows? See if they'' throw in some extra bow strings
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
One of these hand crossbows is worth more than just a shortbow, the broken one should be worth more than the shortbow and arrows you want. Save the good one for armor or equipment.
I assume I know this as a warrior, but if I need an intelligence check or something to get a more accurate guess of value let me know.
Vothe Rowan
Vothe will just watch while pretending not to understand what is being said in the language of his mentor. Vothe will offer one of his handcrossbows to the groups pool of things to trade to get outfitted when someone mentions trade in common.

They have equipment 100 gp worth of equipment from the PHB, after Bryn's roll they are willing to buy everything at a 50% markdown and sell everything at a 50% mark up. So Bryn's pile they are offering 45 gp for. Broken Items are offered at a quarter of the price of what they are worth. When questioned about their prices they merely shrug and say Supply and Demand.
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
After hearing the prices and the markup, Bryn frowns but knows the importance of striking some deal. He shuffles the equipment around to offer a smaller portion of his equipment for a Maul.
It seems my hope has been tempered, посао мора бити добро...
I offer everything but the chain shirt, and add the shield totaling 30GP in goods. That should be 15GP worth in trade for a 10GP maul marked up to 15GP. That leaves 90GP of goods let for trade, correct?
Bryn gives almost everything he is carrying including his lucky coin only to receive a maul in return, and thanks his stars for a decent weapon.
They have more goods, but the trades are costly. If there is equipment you are looking for... Bryn details the stipulation for trade while donning his armor.
I leave you guys the rest of the goods, I at least can use my fighting style now.
Lenthus Dilwam
"I'll give my dagger for a set of clothing"
A dagger is worth 2 gp. (1 gp. at lowered prices) and common clothes are 5 sp.(1 gp. at raised prices) So a trade.
Atendarius Kraye
2gp for the daggers, 0.5 for the caltrops, 5 for the rope for a total of 7.5gp. 7.5gp for the staff arcane focus. Was hoping to get some clothing, but this is more important. They have 84.5gp left of goods.
Kingsley the Cobbler
Kingsley lets out a sad sigh, all he had on him was a shield and melted shortsword. He glances to the others after a moment. "I have nothing to trade, unfortunately. If anyone can part with spending some coin to grab me a useful weapon to go with my shield and maybe some clothing, it would be most appreciated. After all, I don't think I'm too useful having to kick everything." King lets out a light laugh afterwards.
Lenthus Dilwam
I'll trade my Studded leather for some stuff. With altered prices: Studded leather (22gp. 5 sp.), for: Kingsley's choice of a greatclub or quarterstaff (4 sp.) 2nd set of common clothes for Kingsley (1 gp), a Staff arcane focus for me (10 gp.) a backpack (4 gp.), and a bar of soap (4 cp.) This leaves them with 99.94 gp of goods left. My leather armor will be able to pay for whatever else you guys want.
Atendarius Kraye
I believe the prices are raised by 50% so a staff focus is actually 7.5gp, clothing .75 gp, etc. I could certainly use some clothing too. If we can manage it I think it would be good to get Kingsley a war pick at 7.5gp so he can use his shield too. He has the shield master feat, so I assume he doesn't plan on dropping the shield.
Ril Trausch
Hand Crossbow - New 37.5... Broken Hand crossbow 16.25 = 49.75... I'm 3gp short so just selling the broken hand crossbow and buying a set of boots that fit, some clothes for the others and some food
Bryn y Rhosynmelyn
For quick reference, that hand crossbow can buy 25GP worth of goods. Basically, anything you trade can buy 1/3 it's value in equipment at the price listed in the PHB from these guys. I'm also going to go ahead and trade my chain shirt for padded armor, clothes, 10 javelins, and an herbalism kit. (16GP, 6SP, 6CP from the trade; 5GP, 5SP, 5GP, and 5GP in items)
That leaves me with 1 silver and 6 copper. I'll buy a sack stuff it with soap, 3 torches, 3 chalk pieces, pick up a waterskin, and a signal whistle and be left broke.
After Vothe's crossbow, Ril's crossbow, and Lenthus' and Aten's trades that leaves the traders with 21GP, 5SP, and 9CP worth of goods from the PHB.
We still have 25GP, and 3SP worth of goods (using PHB prices) we can spend. Kingsley needs weaponry, and I believe everyone is clothed at this point. Any useful equipment we could use? Tools? Maybe "untrade" some climbing gear?
Bryn approaches on more time with more items to trade, and haggles a bit for some more goods.
Lenthus Dilwam
"Well, I'm going to go remember my spells."
Lenthus walks off to the corner of the cavern, and uses his new staff to practice his spells.
Off in the corner using cantrips. I don't think this will activate the wild magic, as they are cantrips, and not higher powered spells.
Kingsley the Cobbler
Kingsley smiles as he gives a couple hard swings, testing out the feel of his new war pick. "Might be a little savage for my tastes but it'll do fine, i'm sure. Thank you friends! It's because of you I have been able to come so far, and for that, I am in your debt. To repay all of you, I'd like to offer you all a free shoe fixing when I return to my humble shop. I know it may not be much, but it's the least I can do." Carmichael is gonna kill me.
Atendarius Kraye
Aten adjusts his new clothes and gives his new staff a few spins and twists, getting accustomed to its weight. "With our new equipment we should be much more prepared for the dangers of this place." He is amused by Kingsley's prattle, I will definitely let this man fix my boots.
Lenthus Dilwam
"We should keep going, I want to get to Darklake soon." He turns to Bryn "Tell them thanks for me." He hears Kingsley and smiles. "When we get back, I will probably take you up on that."
Axthes, make a note: Kingsley owes us fixed shoes.
Lenthus, we don't have shoes.
Have you been paying attention!?
not really.

And you bid the merchants a heartfelt goodbye as you part ways. Your travels end at a cave well above the body of the water known as Darklake. Though it is more akin to a sea than a lake.
When asked at your location, the NPCs familiar with the area inform you that Sloopbludoop is about 36 miles to the North East. They suggest a water route as the land gets to be treacherous.
Shipwreck's dot the shore and there are some salvagable parts as well as mushrooms as large as Redwood Trees.
Lenthus Dilwam
"Huh." Lenthus looks across Darklake. "I've never seen this much water in one place."
"Do you think we could make a raft out of these mushrooms and shipwrecks? Even if we could only make a small one out of the mushrooms right now, we could add onto it with the shipwrecks. Or maybe we can hollow out a mushroom right now and float with that. What do you think we could use as oars?"
Vothe Rowan
"I've read some books about making boats, and if no one has an specific training I will put together what I remember. We should probably start by salvaging what we can. Who knows, we might find some useable equipment, too. We should probably break into teams to make the going faster and have each team pick a wreck to search through."
Jack of All Trades roll for shipbuilding: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Lenthus Dilwam
Lenthus stares at Aten. "Aten... Thats genius! Shoes could possibly float, right? So all we need is a shoe big enough and streamlined enough to fit in! Vothe, you could help with your boat-building skills, and Kingsley, treat it as if you were making a waterproof boot!"
Lenthus, you sound absolutely insane!
It might work though. Just let me see what the others think.
Ril Trausch
I don't think thats even a coherent thought - has fatigue gotten to you Lenthus or are you merely jesting? Anyways, I am getting to work, I'll take some of our new friends to help.
Ril gathers some of the prisoners and starts checking the wrecks for salvagable rope to tie boards together and satisfactory ship parts and boards.
Atendarius Kraye
Aten gives them a sullen look after Ril and Vothe shoot down his and Lenthus' idea. "If you don't like the shoe idea, perhaps we should consider using these giant mushrooms? They are large enough to be like a tree, perhaps we could chop one done and hollow it out to make a canoe or something?"
