Reverently cleaning their blade of foul Goblin ichor, the Speaker smiles at Samm as the small Grippli goes climbing. Taking a deep breath, the Speaker of the Scarlet Flame ateps away from the Goblin corpses and hugs the wall at the base of the stairs in case they are needed quickly.

"We should let Samm have a look and start moving shortly after he goes over the wall, just in case he is spotted."

As the rest of the group looks out for any signs of goblins Sammakko peers up to find the best path for his climb...

The stone shelf upon which the fort sits is a purely natural feature, despite its odd appearance. It is deceptively difficult to climb; doing so requires successful difficult Climb checks. You also note that if someone should lose their balance while climbing (fail the climb check) it could force part of the stone face to fracture and fall away resulting in a loud rockslide.

Deldri, Eris and Sammakko all see some slight irregularity on the wooden stairs leading up... roughly 20 ft up... they all conclude it is most likely a trap.

As Eris gets to work and they continue waiting for Samm to report their findings, the Speaker keeps herself ready for action, idly shifting her weight from foot to foot to avoid cramp and praying softly under her breath to the Dawnflower. She had no love for the evil of goblins, especially those following the Mother of Monsters, but their wholesale slaughter of the creatures today did not sit well with the holy woman.

"If the rockslide were fearsome enough to crush the fort or the goblins inside then we too would be at great risk." she points out.

"Well, probably not best to cause a landslide if we can avoid it. Wouldn't be a surprise anymore. If Eris takes care of the trap, I suppose we should use the stairs. They can't outsmart us!"

Eris scampers up the rickety but solid staircase in front of the others and disables the trap on the stairs.

Eris:

You notice the boards that make up the stairs shift, pulling a hidden rope taut and causing jars of brown mold that are concealed in the building above to launch into the air. The jars are secured to the building by ropes, causing them to swing back down and smash on the wall above the trap’s trigger, covering that square in dangerous brown mold.

Once the trap is defeated the group can now move up the stairs if they so desire or they can brave the rock climb...

Smiling As Eris disposes of the problem of the rickety stairs, The Speaker falls into line with her companions, standing behind their swashbuckler ally. With her curved sword reflecting the sun from its dark blade, she indicates her readiness with a nod.

The group gets into marching order and the grippli leads them up the wooden staircase past the trap that Eris so skillfully disabled. Sammakko tells the others that once at the top there is 10 feet of open space before getting to the goblin fort wall and gate.

A piecemeal steel and iron fence runs between two wooden buildings. A seven-foot-tall wooden gate constructed from fragments of tower shields blocks a crudely cut hole in the fence.

"Climbing's my thing so I like that plan." Sam attempts to climb on top of the nearest building as quietly as possible to get a view of the entire camp.

The group makes it to the top and watch Sammakko scamper up to the top of the closest building. Sammakko manages to see the fort from his spot and passes the information along to the rest of the group.

Yard-This small practice yard is surrounded by a crudely made metal fence and several small wooden buildings. Mud and morass cover the ground, and the sickly sweet stench of decay hangs heavy in the air. A rusting metal gate blocks the entrance to a cave to the northwest, while a second gate leads to the southeast. In the center of the yard, a stubby rectangular building sits upon a roughly hewn stone foundation. A crude depiction of a three-eyed face decorates its door. Seven goblins are scattered across the yard.

Once Sammakko gets back and reports what he saw Wolfgang comments:"Any way for us to slip inside? Seven goblins we can handle, but are we sure that's all is there? Maybe we should lure them out and get rid of a few of them, then get into their fort and clean house..."

Hearing the shriek, The Speaker tightens her grip on her blade as she begins to mouth her prayer to Sarenrae, goddess of the the Dawn in preparation for the upcoming conflict. As the goblinoids heave open the gates, she bursts into motion, a sweeping dance of death as she cuts at the goblin facing her. Once more he sword bursts into crimson flame.

The gate door swings open and the first goblin charges through to find Sammakko's thrown fist which almost downs him...

Due to their confined position only three goblins can make a clean break through the gate and the yellow goblin retaliates against the grippli...
