Please put me back on the list.

Please re-add me as well. I am levelled up and ready to roll.

Is 4 Craft rolls too few for everyone to get the crafting done that they want to get done? I've noticed Riggar has been disregarding the limit, but in his defense, there has been definite demand there. Should we up the number of rolls gained every time a new mission starts?

I don't want to abuse the system lol. Plus I am in CaveToad's game so I was exempt the last time.

I could see going up a little from the current 4 to say 7 or 8 perhaps?

8 is fine. since the time between encounters is abstracted and nebulous, the only thing we need to worry about is what is reasonable. I think that is fine to me.

Sounds good. I know the idea was to keep crafters from endlessly crafting and selling items. Each player could use their rolls to try to craft things for themselves or other players, or they could use their rolls to generate gold. Also, according to the Crafting skill, players can increase the DC of their crafting checks to complete stuff in fewer checks and so make more use of their limited number of checks.

Go ahead and put me back on the list. I need to get my Animal Companion figured out but I think I have the rest taken care of for now.

Just thought I'd bump this real quick. We could use some new blood.

I tried to understand what you guys are up to, but must admit I got somewhat lost along the way between the threads. Any hints would be useful :D

I haven't read all the threads, but so far it looks like D&D Encounters, but with PF; or PFS (ultra)light. Sort of PVE arena. RP is supposed to take place inbetween adventures.
Actually, I'm interested, if you don't mind complete noob with only theorycrafting experience. Format looks great for getting a taste of a PF game.
I also think this campaign/organization could use a bit of (back)story and I'm willing to contribute to this sorta-worldbuilding or to write it from scratch.

Just create any paizo legal pc. No 3rd party material. As far as background goes Nyaa, if you wanna work on something you are more than welcome to. :)

I got a couple things in the works, but most are for higher level. I will work on some lower level stuff to incorporate new ppl as well :)

Glad to have your guys on board :)

Any other ? Feel free to ask, there are plenty of vets to this series of games as well as to pathfinder as well :)

Power/optimization level guideline? One encounter per "day" and campaign info imply CR+3 or +2 encounters.

Magic mart only buys items, but have infinite supply of crafting materials? Or it sells items too (not random ones)? Can't figure it out from campaign info.

Wait, hybrid/ACG classes are not allowed?

Correct, a DM will usually make the encounter slightly hazarded since pc can go "nova", otherwise it would typically be a cake walk.

I need to update it but yes acg classes are allowed. NO occult classes though until the final print is out.

Rifikki and his magic mart will buy magical good at 1/2 fair market value. Just as it is with PFS or standard rules. A magical item, you the seller can also try to "find" an adventurer or passer-by to pay above fair market value for the item. There is a % chance, and depending on item rarity, oddity you the seller will have an increased chance of selling to a interested party ( ie: a medium sized +1 full plate may be easier to sell to another adventurer than say a small sized +1 exotic weapon. The demand isn't as high).

Rifikki also carries magical goods, if he doesn't currently have it, he can get it.

Plus Riggar, my guy has arms/armor. Bartleby has potions/alchemy. I think someone else had wonderius items. We can give discounts if we are in the mood and have been known to help out noobs.

Does that help at all?

And like me, if you gm games u get bonusses. Cant remember how all those work though... :P

Yes, that's very helpful, thank you. Are Campaign Info and Characters tabs up to date? if so, I'll probably make an Arcanist as there's no full arcane caster and crafter, and previously planned Summoner will step on too many toes.

Afaik the tabs are current, point buy with 200 GP to spend as you see fit. Time is abstract so you can create whatever you have the funds for.

Glad to have you on board. :)

If you GM you get a level in a bank that only you have access to. You can level a pc whenever you see fit, and you get 75% of the gp difference between old and new level. I did my best to explain it in the campaign tab under "GM for rewards" or something like that title wise.

Being a GM keeps things fresh for everyone, so we wanted to reward ppl for taking the time of planning and running a group.

Currently busy making a human (adopted by halflings) Empiricist Investigator who will be good at helping others shine in and out combat and will have a varied selection of skills. Will become better at it once he gets to around lvl 3 though. :)

[edit:]What does the Investigator need to create his extracts? And what would I need create alchemical items? (Do I need an alchemy lab/portable lab/...?) Was wondering what I exactly all need to buy with my starting gold :)[/edit]

Tools & Equipment:To make an item using Craft (alchemy), you must have alchemical equipment. If you are working in a city, you can buy what you need as part of the raw materials cost to make the item, but alchemical equipment is difficult or impossible to come by in some places. Purchasing and maintaining an alchemist's lab grants a +2 circumstance bonus on Craft (alchemy) checks because you have the perfect tools for the job, but it does not affect the cost of any items made using the skill.

Hope that helps.

Hmm, looked it up. The only thing I would be able to buy right now is a portable alchemist's lab at 75 GP, otherwise I would not have any gold left for other items :)

regular alchemist's lab is 200 GP.

Don't necessarily need to be crafting alchemical items from the get-go.
I am mostly curious if I need some form of kit for my extracts and how much it would weigh (and cost if not assumed to be part of an investigator's starting gear).

as an alchemist, you are already set up, much like a wizard is with his spellbook. You don't need any other gear for your alchemical extract if your the class alchemist. Plus once you buy an actual alchemist lab, it will safe in the city and you can craft as much as you want :)

Although if you want, you can pick up a couple of bandoliers for thematic purposes.

Hi all! Looks like there's fun to be had here. Sign me up!

Added to list & welcome aboard :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This looks interesting. What is the expectation for play time on these encounters? Or is there no real 'we have to play for 2 months' or whatever...

I may give it a go as a 'guest GM', once I figure out the ins and outs here. If you'd like one, of course...

Scarab Sages

Well, you have two people on the waiting list. I'd like to start soon if possible. I don't think there's really a timeframe, although it's supposed to be only one encounter. I guess it could be a long encounter, or a series of encounters with possibly different people kind of like pfs.

I'm still on the waiting list too.

Finnian, I didn't know who updated and are ready to go again. I will get you to the "on deck" area. :)

Play time is usually less less than a month, depends on post rate. As a GM, you would design an encounter (essentially the climax of a scenario) if that makes sense. It is only one fight, so PC's can go all out, so the challenge should be slightly above the PC level to make it challenging. Kake posted a good link to break down what each EL vs "challenge, epic" fight would be. I will try to find it again, it is somewhere in the discussion thread I think.

We are always looking for more PC & GM so the more the merrier. Holidays have caused things to slow down, all across the boards, so after the new year rhings should pick back up.

I will put together a scenario for the three available PC's so they can get their feet wet.

-------------

TO EVERYONE:

Once you have been in a scenario and leveled up, please post in the recruitment thread that you have leveled and ready. Otherwise I may miss you like I dud Finnian and I won't know to put you back on the waiting list.

Finn, if you did list a "ready" and I kissed it I apologize, but the list as far as I know is up to date and accurate.

To all potential newcomers, don't forget to post in the ganeplay thread. You can RP there, we have a lot of crafters available. You can special order items, you can pick them up anytime. time is abstract so essentially you say you buy it and then you have it. No wait time

I also hold giveaways now and then, one is going on now. Hope to see some new faces :)

Happy new year all.

DM Stylz wrote:

I'll get this one ready, hopefully this week. I'm sorry, I got tangled up in recruitment threads for more regularly paced games.

Holidays came, so i just presumed that posting would slow/disappear. Hopefully things will pick back up after the new year.

Nyaa, just let me know when you get your PC ready, make whatever you want, I am sure we can all get along or rotate "similar" PC's in and out to keep things fresh.

Would there be room for that investigator I mentioned a bit up thread? Should be capable of having it finished around 1st of january I think.

Oops, I've forgotten that this summoner was made for a very specific purpose of not needing to sleep. I'll make something else.
@Theorythmus I think you just make a character and post in Discussion thread. Five people is not too much, and even if you don't get into one encounter, you'll be first in the queue for next one.

Theorythmus wrote:

Of course there is room. PC and GM will rotate, the games are fairly slow paced in starting dynamics. Once you get your PC done, post a ready signal in the recruitment thread so I can add you to the list, and dot the ganeplay thread for ease of updates and then just wait I guess lol :)

Thanks for the info. I've been working at figuring this out. So I can pull who is next on the list and give them a link to new encounter thread? And is it just the next available people? My choice of level?

Sorry if this seems obvious, just want to make sure I get it right.

EDIT: Which is the 'right' list to pull from? I see some in the Campaign tab - the "On Deck" list?

You are correct.

"In game/yet to report" is a list of PC who I know have finished a game, but have yet to level and say they are ready for another game. Either they lost interest or real life happened which is fine either way.

"On deck" is the list a GM would pull from. I try to keep it updated with a current PC and level info so a GM can design said encounter for the correct strength of party. A general rule is to keep the PCs within a level of each other (ie level 1&2 with each other but not say a 4+3+1+1. This ensures there is no increased risk to the lower level PCs)

"In game" is just that, PCs in a game or mini-series such as now. They will become available upon scenario completion and giving of ready signal.

------

You can pick whomever you wish. I as GM once have skipped Batleny due to him being level 4, and the encounter was designed for 2&1s. I then designed a higher one to include him later on.

Hope all that helps :). There are no silly ?, we are all genuinely helpful.

Bubo ready to be put back in the list.

If I'm going to GM, I might as well play. I'm going to put a character on the list. Lvl 1 catfolk sorceror.
