GM, did you miss Tad's perception attempt? He was with Zeno and Ebonwolf and got a 21 on perception above.
I sadly did not. :(

Marid architecture is...a bit of a novelty for Zeno.
Shardra - Iconic Shaman |
Maybe the others in Shardra’s team ‘aid another ‘ on the Perception as 21 was not enough. My 24 last round was fine. So maybe we should even try two aids.
Ebonwolf Metalbender |
"By Torag, these buildings make no sense. Zeno does that do what I think it does?" Ebonwolf recalls a great deal but he is hopeful the best way to repair the location is correct.
2nd Attempt Kn. Engineer: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Thokzazt Perception Aid Another: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Ebonwolf manages to locate the sabotage, and with Zeno and Thaddeus' assistance works through the repairs. Thokzazt and Shardra put their heads together to help William work on the next site, but complications from a nearby festival interfere with the effort, requiring more time.
2 sites repaired, 7 hours elapsed.

GM, so our effort to involve the guards led to -15 minutes per roll! Great! ;-) Can we do other things too? Can we mobilize other NPCs with whom we have interacted and get their aid? E.g. the animals of Honoke. In any case if Shardra notices that aid would benefit them she would approach the guards to send a message to the NPCs. See below:
"Oh dear <insert name>, we have detected bombs that could lead to the dome shattering and Tsomo isresponsible." Shardra explains briefly what the group found out. "Your help is urgently needed to support this community! Please, if you have the means to assists us to detect and disable these bombs please do so! Here is a map with the location of the remaining bombs! Thank you! Warm regards, Shardra"
And here a corresponding Diplomacy roll to see how the letter affects them given our interaction with them in the past.

The guards swear to carry the message as quickly as possible. It is not long before the Pathfinders receive word that Lileone was able to send the request via animal messenger. As the repair efforts continue, the citizens of the Glass Pit district begin to aid, led by marajau foremen directing the efforts.
Rounds have been reduced another quarter hour thanks to the aid of the citizenry, requiring only half an hour to complete attempts. Everyone else, please make your checks to repair the sabotage!

TOZ: Do we have a rough idea how many sites we have to left to deal with? Wondering if we need to split up further.
Shardra: The goggles give a total bonus of +5. It doesn't stack with heightened awareness which is why I said +3 last round, but the net total bonus is +5. It lasts all day, and consequently I totally should have turned it on this morning and used it through the scenario but for some reason I thought it was charge/hour, not charge/day.

TOZ: Do we have a rough idea how many sites we have to left to deal with? Wondering if we need to split up further.
You could certainly attempt that. You have 8 locations roughly marked on the map and have repaired 2 of them so far.
Zeno Loxley |
Thrice-Greatest Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Zeno begins to get a handle on it as he recognizes the similarities of marid architecture to that of Golarion's sea elves...one might say that were the latter likened to a suit of slender but sturdy field plate, the former would be that baroque (if not downright rococo) business the Hellknights wear.
William Iosef Blazkovich |
I think I'm just having a hard time visualizing exactly what's going on. Does it seem as though having multiple specialties in each group is helping or is our team basically Shardra's giant perception bonus and supporting cast? If so William would likely just opt to aid another on perception, or split off to make a group of engineers and a group of spotters. Also, did Shardra's request for aid go out to everyone we've befriended thus far or just Razethka? If the latter, William is decent at diplomacy and would probably try to seek out a few more helpers.
Grandmaster TOZ |
I think I'm just having a hard time visualizing exactly what's going on.
The team is following a vague map to areas of the city and attempting to undo sabotage, using a single skill check per character as an abstract determination of success. I'm doing my best to kludge your extra inputs into the two paragraph minigame I have to work with. :) At this point, there isn't much more you can do to speed your work, as you already have the entire district mobilized to help.
Thaddeus Treeskipper |
perhaps we should divide the team into two parts based on skill? Put the perception characters on one team, and the engineering characters on the other. Then we can more effectively use aid another.
Shardra - Iconic Shaman |
Tad, that totally makes sense!! So Tad, Thokzazt and Shardra one team and William Ebonwolf and Zeno other team?
William Iosef Blazkovich |
William has already made his attempt this round (whcih I think has been eclipsed by Shardra's nat 20), but next round I think William will go trade positions with Tad so he can help with the engineer crew. If that seems like it will work, William will just automatically aid-another on Zeno's check. The goggles will stay with Shardra.

That is one way to handle it! (Time to complete repairs was 2 hours.)
With Shardra's keen eyes aided by William's gear, and Zeno and Ebonwolf's mechanical expertise, the Pathfinders are able to avert the nefarious plot against the city of Vialesk! As the citizens disperse back to their workplaces, the murajau leaders offer you thanks and congratulation for your tireless work. Even so, the nagging thought of being no closer to apprehending the villain behind the sabotage is a sour note.
In a stroke of fate, as the murajau lead you back to the cartography offices to share a celebratory drink, a familiar face is noted on the walkway. Kneeling by a waterway, is the lean aquatic elf assistant from Tsomo's office. Not so suspicious to see him out, until you notice him slip a bamboo shark with distinctive notches into the water. He rises to notice your stares and a brief moment passes as your gazes meet. With a curse, he whirls and dashes into the crowd!
As the party gives chase they can see the elf darting through the crowd into the livestock market. He dives through the water pens, calling out to the shark life within and appearing to incite them to a furor to cover his tracks! Some of the merchants cry out in alarm as the animals menace them in their blind fury!
Each of you may take a full round of actions each turn to help apprehend the fleeing elf. Due to his use of watery paths to confound your pursuit, anyone unable to breath underwater takes a -2 penalty on checks. The crowds also impose a Concentration check on spellcasting due to the chaotic distractions (DC10+spell level). Possible tactics include calming the animals to ease your passage, throwing poisonous creatures at him, or breaking cases in his path with ranged weapons, but feel free to come up with your own ideas.
Shardra - Iconic Shaman |
"Oh dear spirits, I am so happy that our efforts were successful! Imagine what would have happened to this wonderful city if everything would have gone to waste! If all these people living here would have been hurt!?" she sighs and she is very relieved.
Seeing the elf escape she sees a way to calm the animals and takes action!

As Tsomo dives into the pens, William graciously accepts Thaddeus's spell then dives in after him. Seeing the amassed crowd, William opts not to do more damage to the scene but instead choke off Tsomo's escape. "Stop him! Spy! Terrorist!"
Diplomacy to rally the crowd: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Grandmaster TOZ |
William's and Thokzazt's shouting seems to confuse the crowd more than rally it, merchants fleeing in all directions from the unknown menace. Ebonwolf's hammer strikes true, but deflects off the case without spilling the hazard across his quarry's path. Despite those setbacks, the crowd interferes with Tsomo's escape route, allowing Zeno to catch the villain with an amazing shot that sends him tumbling head over heels.
Only a moment later the man kips up and rushes out of the market, heading for a stretch of waterway with a raised bridge allowing gondolas to pass through. The gears holding the bridge halves raised glisten from the water dripping down the supports, while in the water a pack of turtle-like crabs swim single file. From the direction of his flight, it is becoming clear he is making for the docks!
You have closed the distance by 1 square, leaving him with a 2 square lead. I will try to put up a slide showing your progress tonight, although the abstractness of the chase doesn't require it. William sees opportunity to put his Engineering to use on the bridge, while athletic feats to Swim or Acrobatics in the waterway may also help slow his flight.

I rolled the attack and damage, even though I don't know exactly how you'll apply this. The idea is to slow down the enemy by distracting with attacks. If that doesn't work, maybe the enemy will have fewer hit points when we catch up. Also, the scimitar will attack without using any of Tad's actions for 4 more rounds, so may still be around during the combat.

Tad's holy weapon narrowly misses the mark, forcing Tsomo further off course, while Zeno manages to close the bridge with the help of Ebonwolf and Willaim. Cursing, the sea elf breaches the surface with powerful kicks, landing at a run on the thoroughfare. As the Pathfinders give chase, pursued and pursuer alike are given pause by the massive bulk of a squid taking up the bulk of the space. One massive eye turns to the humanoids before it, which might be intimidating were it not for the mountain of packages held in its free limbs. "I beg your pardon, am I in your way?" the creature inquires in Aquan, completing the absurdity of the situation. Tsomo snaps out of surprise and attempts to dart around!
So yeah, giant squid. How would you like to handle THIS particular development? :)

The rest of the party finds themselves falling behind Tsomo as he flees into a crowded plaza filled with street performers. Dolphins and penguins leap through hoops held by their handlers, but Tsomo attempts to bull right through the performance!
The party was not quite able to slow Tsomo down enough to catch him, leaving him with a 1 square lead. My apologies for not spelling options out last turn, although with those rolls it may not have mattered.
