"Urbar, you heared the people. Bust down a door and let's get this done. There is tea to be had."
Eryzule, shrugs. motioning toward the north door.

![]() |

Urbar moves towards the northern door and tries to open is as slow and silent as possible.
"Stay close."
He whispers into the mist, breaking the eerie silence.

StephNyan |

Urbar heads over to the north door and opens it.
Reposting the description of the room:
The mists here congeal into a thick and silvery fog that cools the lungs. A giant warrior looms from the haze, his arms crossed at his chest, his helm solemn and still. Beyond lie sarcophagi of varied designs, and a few glass cases wherein withered dead are held upright by rods and string, grim exhibits of long-dead citizens whose fallen empires were erased an age past.
In the northeast of the room there's a doorway. The door to the chamber beyond was once a pane of expensive frosted glass, which now lies in broken shards on the floor.
I messed up on the door in the corridor's south wall. That's really just a normal, closed door.

![]() |

Ery slides up next to Urbar, readying his crossbow with a slow grind of the loading crank.
"Any guesses? Undead? Demon? Harem?"
The elf whispered to Urbar.

![]() |

Playing for Vicard while he has internet issues
Vicard and Tereze move up to Ery and Ubar.
Tereze whispers to the group:
Boys, go explore this room, I'll guard your back
She steps into the room and stands by the door looking around for any threats in the room or in the hall.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 11

![]() |

Gwen glares at Ery's stinging comment and squares her shoulders to follow her companions into the foggy museum. She stops a moment in response to Tereze's comments. She replies in their shared tongue, although not as smoothly or fluently as Tereze. Gwen's scarf would be grey, violet, and dark orange with a touch of bright red.
She nods at Tereze and follows her into the museum, making sure to give Ery a shoulder bump and sharp look as she passed by.

![]() |

"Oh Gwen, you dont have to flirt to get my attention."
Ery scooted aside after the shoulder bump, allowing the fighters to head forward.

![]() |

Urbar slowly makes his way across the room, paying close attention to his surroundings.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
If nothing moves or catches his attention he will make his way to the eastern door with the broken glass.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

StephNyan |

When Urbar reaches the middle of the chamber, some of the corpses in the chamber begin to move. One is a withered, mummified thing from beneath Osirion’s sands bearing a jeweled scarab on its chest among its spiced wrappings, a scarab seer and warrior-priest of an old pharaonic age. Another is an armored warrior of a long dead empire, clad in heavy discolored bronze plates and helm. A third is a hulking skeleton, a towering ancestor of the Kellid race who wields a greatclub fashioned from a mammoth’s ivory tusk. The fourth is a shrunken emaciated corpse wrapped in rotten silks and holding a silvered Qadiran scimitar in one bony fist.

Tereze looks from the dead that are rising from the room behind her to the silver mist that is all around her. With a sigh she announces to the rest of the group:
Zere are walking dead in the fog here. It is like Deja Vu all over again.

![]() |

From behind her cowled visage Gwen narrowed her eyes at Ery, but shook her head despite herself. Try as hard as she might... she just couldn't stay annoyed with the elf.
At Tereze's announcement regarding the undead, Gwen shakes her head slowly. "I'm beginning to dislike this city..."

![]() |

"Huh."

![]() |

Eveyone is able to hear Urbar let out a loud sigh.
"How about bloody staying dead?!"
He yells as he takes a step and tries to strike the war chief.

Five foot step and full attack.

StephNyan |

Luckily this fog doesn't give concealment! :)
Urbar steps up to the War Chief and swings both his swords at the undead. The second attack hits the War Chief, but it does no damage.
The Qadiran Warlord leaves its pedestal and moves up to Tereze. It raises its scimitar and takes a swing at her.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
The Warlord misses horribly.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Gwen tries to slip around Tereze to get at the undead warlord, all the while attempting to prevent opening herself up to a counter-attack. As she moves, she twists her wrist slightly to cause her dan bong to drop down into her awaiting palm. Once in position she shoots forward to grab the undead's arm and twists around with her weapon to attempt to lock in that arm. "I've got this one, Tereze. Go help Urbar!
Grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Move Action - Acrobatics into position to avoid AoO. Swift Action - Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheath. Standard - Grapple!

![]() |

With a nod to Gwen, Tereze moves around the undead warlord trusting in her companions skill to keep her safe.
As she leaves the Warlord behind, she begins chanting:
Rest you now, ye men of Old,
Return now to your reward foretold.
Close your eyes and go to sleep,
Zis evil curse no longer keep.
As she arrives opposite the Proto-Kellid War Chief from Urbar, golden light explodes from her.
Channel Energy Damage(DC 14): 1d6 ⇒ 5
OK a few notes on this round:
1) I'm assume Gwen grappled the warlord, else she will accept the AoO if there is one.
2) Even though she didn't pause to draw her club, she is flanking the War Chief due to her spiked gauntlets.
3) Channel Energy is a 30' burst so I should be able to get the Warlord, War Chief and Legionnaire in the burst from where I'm at.

![]() |

Vicard moves forward, to attack the grappled undead. "Why are we always fighting things that aren't alive?" he asks rhetorically before slashing at the grappled Warlord.
Sword Cane attack: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

StephNyan |

Scimitar, AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The Warlord takes a wild swing at Gwendallyn when she passes Tereze, but Gwendallyn has no trouble dodging it. Gwendallyn then grapples the Warlord.
Tereze moves around the Warlord and up to the War Chief. She finishes her chant the moment she arrives and a golden light explodes from her.

Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The Bronze Legionnaire seems to take the energy damage best, but still ends up with a few burns. The Warlord and War Chief look like they took the full hit.
Vicard attacks the grappled Warlord with his sword cane. Even though Vicard's attack connects, the piercing weapon doesn't deal any damage.
Greatclub: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The War Chief steps off the pedestal and hits Urbar hard with its greatclub.
Longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
The Legionnaire also steps off its pedestal and attacks Urbar with its longsword, but the weapon bounces off of Urbar's armor.

Vicard curses fluently in Orcish as his blade does little damage to the grappling creature. " Why is everything we fight undead! " His voices echoes over the clash and sizzle of magic.

Urbar goes on one knee as he gets hit by the greatclub, his vision going black for a moment. He stands up again and takes a step back to attack the chief again.

the elf looks around with a shrug.

StephNyan |

@Urbar: It happens :P
Eryzule draws his crossbow and fires a bolt at the War chief. It gets stuck in the War Chief's eye socket, without actually dealing damage.
Ery's bolt hit, but the damage was resisted.

While still outside the building, Fiona hears the echo of Vicard's voice mention undead. She freezes up as the images of the undead she encountered during her last mission appear in front of her mind's eye.

Grapple (Maintain): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
After ducking around the undead warlord's scimitar, Gwen wastes no time in pinning its free arm with her dan bong at the elbow joint. She presses down with all her might onto the elbow with one hand while pressing upward at the wrist with her other. There's a horrible crunching sound as the age old bones shatter and Gwen practically rips the warlord's arm off!
If that drops the warlord, then I will move into the position as indicated on the map! If not, feel free to move Gwen back into her previous position.
"Hurry! That foolish ranger has been knocked out yet again..."

![]() |

Seeing Urbar fall, Tereze's eyes narrow over her scarf.
With deliberate motions she steps back near the Warlords pedestal and draws her club.
With her feet set firmly shoulder width apart she grimly chants:
When times are dark and companions fall
Our faith shall save us one and all.
To stand strong now in zis dusty room
And bring forth golden light of doom.
Once again Golden light explodes from her washing over each the standing Undead.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Vicard sees Urbar go down, dimly through the fog. The ranger had a bad habit of taking hits that he couldn't withstand. The investigator runs forward, hoping to help the stricken man.
He moves next to the Seer, and tries to help Urbar from bleeding to death.
Heal Check to Stabilize Urbar: 1d20 ⇒ 6
But the undead are too close and the bleeding too much...

StephNyan |

After being struck and having fainted, Urbar luckily stabilizes.
Gwendallyn maintains her grapple on the Warlord and rips its arm off. The Warlord howls eerily and crumbles to dust, after which Gwendallyn repositions herself.
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Will: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 = 20
Golden light explodes from Tereze and washes over the undead. It's less effective than last time Tereze did it, but enough to make the War Chief crumble to dust.
Vicard moves over to Urbar and tries to stabilize the ranger. It doesn't appear to work, but then Vicard realizes Urbar has already stabilized on his own.
Longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The Legionnaire steps onto Urbar's back and hits Vicard with its longsword.

Reloading his corssbow Full round the elf watches the combat with a smirk over his face.
"Anyone ever thought about how useful undead are? I mean this is our second time wrestling with these things...and their so expendable apparently. I want one. No...I want two."

![]() |
Sorry for missing the last turn; Fiona did move inside in a previous post before the battle, so I moved her on the map to adjust her starting position for this battle. I also assumed she'd have loaded a bolt as the group moved in. If you disagree with either she'll just spend her turn moving (and loading her crossbow if in sight of an undead).
Fiona hesitantly steps into the room, moves to a better location and fires a bolt from her crossbow at the Scarab Seer.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
As the battle continues, she surprises herself by shouting to the others (well, more like speaking loudly) "Move them away from Urbar so I can heal him!"

![]() |

I am really glad I took heart of the wilderness instead of skilled... Apparently I desperately need it :P

StephNyan |

Eryzule takes his time to reload his heavy crossbow. Meanwhile, he realizes undead are the perfect tea servants.
Fiona shoots a bolt in the Seer's torso and shouts at the others, telling them what to do.
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Claw 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The Seer attacks Vicard with its teeth and claws. Vicard manages to dodge the bite and one of the claws, but is hit by the Seer's second claw.
Round 3:
Urbar (Down)
Vicard (Disabled)
Tereze
Gwendallyn
Bronze Legionnaire -3HP
Eryzule
Fiona
Osirian Scarab Seer -9HP
Vicard's at 0 HP, thus disabled. He'll have to make a DC 13 Fort roll or also end up paralyzed for several rounds. (I'll make a secret roll to determine how many rounds.)

![]() |

Vicard groans as he fails at holding off the ravening attacks of the Seer. One claw catches him up the back, ripping a tearing wound. As blood flows the investigator hits the floor, air rushing out of him in a heavy (and wet) sigh. He tries to rouse himself, anything to stave off shock, which could be deadly.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
But the blood is too much, the pain too great and the chill from the fog still resting in his bones. His face falls to the floor.
I am now, offically, dead weight to the party

![]() |

Seeing Vicard fall to the ground, Gwen flings the undead arm still in her grasp at the Seer just before making a reckless rush towards the ancient Osirian! She uses her momentum to her advantage and moves to slam her foot into the chest of her enemy with a vicious front kick! She then stands protectively over her fallen comrade. "Come on then!" she screams in challenge.
Charge: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Charge attack; +2 Attack, -2 AC until beginning of next round. Hopefully that's enough to take down the Osirian!

![]() |

As the second of her companions falls, Tereze realizes that the time to pray that these unwilling meat puppets have there souls put to rest is past. Now is the time for action.
Club: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Following along in Gwen's wake Tereze runs forward and leaps in the air yelling: Get away from them you abomination! As she lands on the pedestal she brings her club down in a two handed overhead smash into the bronze legionnaire.
Can someone move me to the red dot in front of me

![]() |

You're fine Vicard, consider me when you start question value. I don't do crap in combat. At all... I'm a bundle of flavor.

![]() |

@Vicard. That's all luck for those rolls. Stat wise my combat is no better then yours if you really look at it. Plus sooner or later we will stop with the undead and you can start doing things like intimidating foes in combat to set up Urbar.

![]() |

@Tereze. Yeah, that was my plan. Gwen made a good point about flanking and aiding others. Will have to work on that! Sorry if I came across as whiny. I was (mostly) making a joke.

![]() |

Not Whinny... frustrated. Believe me I know. I had a Wizard that the dice just hated. I seriously went 4 levels without ever rolling over a 10 on anything combat related. And this was 4E where players had to roll for all spells. It became a running joke in that group that my luck was so bad.
Not being able to do anything in multiple combats in a row is REALLY frustrating

![]() |

Not adding much to the party... *Cough*... Lies near death on the ground... again ;P Don't think you are the only one :D

StephNyan |

Vicard's not down, but at exactly 0 HP and paralyzed. He stands, but can't do anything. I'll move Gwen slightly to the left, 'cause she can't share a square with Vicard if he's not down.
The Seer's poison spreads throughout Vicard's body and he freezes in place.
Gwendallyn moves in and kicks the Seer hard, causing it to collapse and fall apart.
Tereze jumps onto the pedestal in spectacular fashion and hits the Legionnaire as hard as she can, but it seems unimpressed with her effort.
Longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
The Legionnaire tries to hit Tereze, but she barely avoids his longsword.
