Tereze Amnell |
Darn, I knew I should have tried to lure then away from the cliff with the offer of gold for the men, but Tereze isn't really the Bluff kind of girl. Maybe she needs to learn to be that some day.
Well gee so ideas - Someone (I guess Urbar) could run up an grab/grapple the old men next round and trust the rest of us to keep the hounds off their back.
I can't do it as I don't have the movement next round to even reach the old guys even with run.
I suppose we could charm one of them, but considering they feel threatned that's probably not going to happen...
Not comming up with anything else right now.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
We can charm two of them, Tereza.
Tereze Amnell |
Well since it's now two rounds until anyone can help the guys, I'll run next round in prep of helping them on round 3.
Thinking ahead, I'm assuming that you all will play that I can run 16 squares right and one square up as a straight line, (so I don't step on the hopefully sleeping hound) The whole way is clear even if it doesn't strictly follow the grid.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
I'll see if I can charm a guy to go lift the old people up.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Elf down!
Tereze Amnell |
Elf up ;) thank you Fiona.
Man do I wish I could draw a weapon as a free action, I have a feeling I'll need one soon.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Elf up! Not dead!
Since I was unable to act, do I get to?
<--note to self, never describe self as frail again. A calistrian Escort's body being compared to a child's body...not something that boosts pride in ones self.
Urbar Anden |
That's not a lot of hp! And that was also very unlucky!
@Tereze At level two you may draw a weapon during movement for the +1 BAB :) That should help out a lot. I could draw two weapons because of two weapon fighting.
Tereze Amnell |
@Urbar, I know. It's just been a long time since I played a character who didn't have the ability to do that.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Could have been worse, Thank god for Fiona's awesome sauce healing. I'd hate to have Lost the Lord of Tea so soon. XD
Vicard Inck |
I think on my turn I'll dive forward and try to grab the old man's hand. No AOO from ranger crossbows. Any help with this plan will be appreciated.
Does anyone have Skype (obviously just text) or anything so we can plan better? As much fun as it is to get our caster stuck full of crowssbow bolts....
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Hey, hey...hey..
My plan was flawless...make a group of the baddies sleep. Bham, it was perfect. BUT Nnnooo, they had a counter plan.
We can use the google map chat to discuss things if needed. but it seems all of us have a varied weekday schedule.
Gwendallyn |
Yeah, I don't really have the ability to Skype. I don't have a normal Mon-Fri schedule with banker's hours. And during my off hours I often watch my son alone due to my wife's odd hours as well. So that's going to be a no from me.
Our best bet is to let the melee folks deal with the thugs while everyone else tries to help pull up the chain gang. Or perhaps Tea Master can try sleep again? Lol
Urbar Anden |
The map chat might work. I think the time zones and daily schedules will make it really hard though.
My experience is that after a while you get used to each others tactics and can adjust to them. And not discussing what you are going to do brings a lot of fun surprise elements :) Like the group discussing if you are going to open the door and three seconds later the door splinters to bits because the monk didn't want to wait.
As for the game Urbar will attack the thugs. It wouldn't really be in his nature to pull the others up instead of killing the bandits.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
That sounds tedious. However i think since we are roleplay heavy we'll be able to adjust like Urbar thinks.
Tereze Amnell |
I have to agree with Urbar and Ery. Just play what your character would do even if it isn't the most tactically perfect option at the time. There's six of us, the others will adjust.
Gwendallyn |
I would agree with that assessment. Plus, the nice part about PbP is that you can plan things out if you want, but PbP combat is much slower than standard combat.
I love the fact that we are all RP heavy, I'm really enjoying reading everyone's posts! I'm a little RP light with Gwen right now, because in a fight she's all hands on. She doesn't let herself get distracted!
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Fear Not!
For the development of character will happen. Fiona being our heavy hitter for that.
Urbar Anden |
I came across this a while ago:
Guide to play by post gaming
Building a better doomed hero
Most of the stuff I started doing automatically but there are some really nice tips in there. Definitely worth the read!
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
That too.
Also, I wish I wish there was cover.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
I sense so. At least if they do hit you with max damage with one of those, you wont go down... I, However, lack that assurance.
Tereze Amnell |
You know I was intentionally avoiding the spiked gauntlet cheese with this character, but since the first fight has one... I guess I'll bow to fate and just claim a set as loot.
Vicard Inck |

Spoils of war!
Vicard Inck |
How high is this cliff? Is it worth jumping in after them or is it pretty deadly?
Edit: Also, do we know which old man is the old we want? And if not, could I ID him if I had to, with some sort of Knowledge check?
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
With the water below, I think they'll be okay, actually.
Also: Elvish seems to be latin on forums, woo!
Vicard Inck |

Yes but we have to untie them from the manacles! Or they'll drown. Which is why I plan on jumping after them. I am the best at un-doing lock, doubly so with Inspiration to help me. Besides, Vicard is a bit single-minded. He would jump.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Be careful, buddy.
Tereze Amnell |
True the loot disappears, but spiked gauntlets are on the approved list to buy. So I could pretty easily just keep the gauntlet and deduct the gold. (Story wise it would've like I just kept it)
Gwendallyn |
I'm excited about hitting 5th level and getting an nice boost in damage to all my Close Group Weapons. DR Adamantine? Oh, just a moment... let me slip on my Adamantine Knuckles of 1d6 damage. Mwa-ahahaha! :D (Mine is an evil laugh!)
Also, Tereze, I forgot to mention that I love the Sword of Truth shout-out with your surname. Nice touch!
StephNyan |
@Tereze: Of course, just making sure you know the way loot works. Sounds like a good idea story wise! ;)
@Gwen: I'm very curious to see how this party'll function when you're all around that level! Not only will the characters all be a lot stronger, but you and your characters will all be very familiar with each other's tactics.
Tereze Amnell |
Gwen, I wondered if anyone would notice that... That series lost a good number of fans over the lastt decade.
Vicard Inck |

The author went a bit overboard with his own private politics. I know I got turned off after a certain point.
Gwendallyn |
Very true. I loved the series... even with the strangeness that was the last three books. My favorite of the series, though, was definitely Wizards First Rule. That was Goodkind's pinnacle with the Sword of Truth.
*EDIT*
Hmmm, so after researching Sword of Truth series... I apparently missed the Goodkind has published four more stories in that series of which I was unaware. I'll have to look at picking those up!
I agree, Vicard, about his over use of his personal political views. I tended to just gloss over his political rants within the stories and focus on the whole.
Gwendallyn |
Nothing is ever so simple. I'm still interested in why these thugs are trying to kill the old guys. Hopefully the one I knocked out will still be alive for questioning.
Vicard Inck |

And of course, when I heroically save the old men themselves.
Tereze Amnell |
Oh yes that series went off the rails. No question.
As for in game. You realize the paper may be wet and runed if he has it on him and he went into the ocean.

...I didn't even think of that.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Fiona and I can charm also, By level 5 we will never be low on temperary and permanant allies.
Fiona Nic Cathár |
@Eryzule and others: Yes, Fiona can also Sleep quite effectively now, but she's currently not on board enough to do that...
@Tereze and Gwen - definitely agree on the Goodkind series, which I stopped shortly after the first book - seemed to go towards the Wheel of Time mass from early on (this was at the point WoT seemed like it would never end)
Gwendallyn |
I never got into Wheel of Time, but always been drawn to it. Of course, now that I've got a toddler I rarely have time to read anyway. I'm currently working on reading A Song of Fire and Ice, specifically A Dance With Dragons.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
@Fiona- Ery will save you with Tea!
@Gwen- Woooo!
