I must have missed that part in the PFS rules. I just read it, and apparently I forgot to take a Craft, Perform or Profession skill... so no day job for me, either. :-)

Hello all! Just wanted to check in with everyone and give the folks who are along for the next scenario and update. The Holidays are over and its time to get back to the grind. I am giving myself this week at work to re-acclimate myself and plan to start the new game next Sunday, January 10. I will be posting the next game on this forum. Feel free to post any purchases for the next game here. Bregolas, Rengel and Auryn are locked in and ready to go. I am working on filling empty slots and should have a few new players by the time we start.
See you folk on the boards.

Here are the purchases and other changes I made. I added them to the "Notes" section of the Chronicle sheet and updated the gold spent and total gold. Is that the right way to do it? Do I need to send you a copy of the updated Chronicle sheet for approval?
Received free wayfarer.
Purchased 2x Acid (@20 gp), 2x Alchemist Fire (@40 gp), Aura goggles (@15 gp), Automatic writing planchet (@25 gp), Bandolier (@5 sp), Blanket (@5 sp), 2x Caltrops (@2 gp), Canteen (@2 gp), Chalkboard (@1 gp), Hypnotist's locket (@15 gp), 2x Marbles (@2 sp), Talking board (@15 gp), Twine (@1 cp) for a total of 136 gp, 2 sp and 1 cp.
Retrained my character (because it is before lvl. 2): Removed 1 skill in Bluff and added 1 skill in Profession (librarian), removed "Arcane Archivist" trait and added "Librarian" trait.

@Regnel - Have you considered picking up a Pathfinder Chronicle or a few? As a librarian, I can totally see you whipping out a tome when you need to do a little research... and "Shush!" everyone when they are talking while you're trying to read. ;)

Looking forward to a great session/game with you all. If I poke fun, or push back back on a player character a bit, it is only meant in the context of gameplay. If offended, its not intentional and please shoot me a PM, etc, so I can know about it and address/make amends.

I did notice your other party member having the same image. I guess all Nagaji do look alike :-)
I don't want to confuse anyone when Tsukai speaks common. I look at common as being a second language that he does not speak often. He is not a dim wit, he just speaks in broken tongue since he has not mastered the language.

Glad to be back on an adventure, and nice to meet some new players!
@Bregolas - I'll have to pick up some books for Regnel to consult before our next adventure! :-)

Hey folks! Glad to see everyone back and am looking forward to another great session. I pulled a few players from one of my other games to fill slots left by Satsu, Floyd and Iris. Definite good peeps and I am sure they would be happy to tell you all about their characters should your character ask them over in the Gameplay thread.
I may have one more person joining and will hold off the next post until tomorrow to give him a chance to hop on. In the meantime, feel free to interact on the gameplay thread. Happy to see everyone jumping in with great IC posts already. Should make for a fine game.

Enjoying the game already, GM Brew. :)
I should probably make a disclaimer as well, lol. Of course zero offense is intended with Bregolas's racist tendencies. It's all meant in character for good fun. The poor elf simply lacks a bit in the social graces... as Regnel and Auryn can attest. :)
I like Tsukai's broken English, makes perfect sense and is more realistic.

No offense taken on my part. I enjoy seeing diverse personalities. It would not make sense for everyone to be joining arms and skipping down to the local tavern while singing merry tunes. Although some shenanigans usually take place after a visit to a tavern, having a little tension between characters is far more realistic. Looking forward to reading more posts

Breg is barely more than 140 summers actually. Lol.
I always found that very odd in the rules. It makes elves seem mentally and emotionally stunted to an exceptional degree, that they don't reach adult maturity until their early 100's. Lol, do they graduate from elementary school in their 60's? :)
I prefer to think of it this way. Elves and other races mature more or less just as quickly as each other. I imagine they physically grow like humans. It's just that elves regard people under 100 years old as immature because, in general, people whom you have a few decades over can easily seem immature. And they have the luxury of perceiving things from incredible maturity we cannot fully even conceive of due to their longevity.

Are we able to cash in the 2 PP right now to obtain a wand of infernal healing? Or do we have to wait until later in the adventure? If we can do it right now, I think I'll get one as well.

I will spend the 2 PP as well on a wand of infernal healing. I agree that it is unfair to place that burden on one player and have them use up personal resources. I was going to purchase a few CLW potions before we embarked on our adventure but forgot to state that intent before we started.
Are there any restrictions to using these wands? Do you need to have access to the spell as a caster or have the ability to use magic device? Also, is there any real detriment to using such a wand? Just thinking about my character's backstory and I am not sure if this item actually makes you evil or just adjusts your alignment to make you appear evil for a short duration.
I will try to read up on this and may choose a different option or item.

From what I can tell from the rules of wands, you have to fulfill the requirement of a "spell trigger" to use a wand - that means your character has to be of a class that has the given spell on its spell list (even if you can't cast it yet.
Infernal Healing is a spell that is on the Cleric, Oracle, Magus, Sorcerer, Summoner Wizard and Witch spell lists, so only someone with access to those spell lists can use it.
From what I've read, though, it's not unheard of for a PFS to use PP to buy a wand they can't personally use, but then temporarily loan it to a character that can to have them cast healing spells on you.
Unfortunately, Infernal Healing is not on my Occultist spell list, so I am going to go with a wand of cure light wounds instead.

What's with all this devilry, lol?
The spell does have the evil descriptor. Though (to be honest) it makes no sense to me for others to be able to do so either, only clerics to my knowledge cannot cast spells opposed to their own alignment. And therefore, they cannot cast those spells via wands either. Using a wand if the spell is not on your spell list (or not on it yet, or if you don't cast spells at all) requires you to succeed on a UMD check.
That said, thanks for the healing, Auryn. :)

I'm Chelaxian. I've got no problem with a little deviltry. :-)
But, yes, in general it does seem weird that half the low-level PFS is running around with evil wands of healing. :-)

I got a chuckle after reading Rengel's final statement. I have also made elaborate posts only to realize I rolled a 1 and epic failed a check. I have often thought about making the die roll first and then adding in more descriptive text based on a potential success or failure. Does anyone know if there is any detriment or if it is frowned upon to edit text more than once?

Not that I know of and actually, what Tsukai makes a lot of sense. I believe that is why the die roll remains constant regardless of the amounts of edits. Allows people to post text that would make sense with the roll. I will say that it is proper protocol not to announce or presume the result of the roll, as that is for the GM to adjudicate.

I edit my posts all the time. Usually to rewrite sentences that I realize can be made clearer or more interesting afterwards, as well as to cleanup grammatical and spelling errors. But yes, I too consider my die results before deciding on how to roleplay it. It makes the most sense to me to do so. Otherwise, the numbers don't match the dialogue and action, and this is a game rather than a novel, after all.

I am sure you all have seen the paizo home page today but if not, there is a link to the Pathfinder Humble Bundle that basically lets you get a pdf every major book for about 17 bucks. Check it out if you need any core material.

Brew, thanks for picking up on this and this is a great deal. Even if you have a few of the core books on PDF, you still get quite a few and if you go to $25.00 you get just about anything and everything you could ever want. All are through paizo and come with the approved Paizo watermark.

COPMC,
Clearly the Core Rule Book if you don't have that.
Its all synced with your current Paizo PDF Downloads, so for me, I already had Core Rule Book, Ultimate Magic, GM GUide, Advanced CLass Guide, Advanced Race Guide, Occult Adventures, Pathfinder Unchained, and the Inner Sea Guide.
The two books I reference a lot is the Core and Ultimate Magic since I play a Magus. The GM Screens and Player Folio I use a lot because they have charts like the old AD&D DM screens that answer a lot of my questions at my finger tips. The next book I use a lot after the aforementioned in the Inner Sea Guide. It puts a lot of things in context to what goes on from one adventure to the next.
| GM Brew |
I dunno. I have been enjoying bugging Brew about what it costs to buy everything :-)
I will definitely check it out and thanks for the reminder. Any books you recommend?
Some great deals to be had in the bundle. Books I think are essential include the CRB, Ultimate Equipment, Inner Sea World Guide, Ultimate Combat, Magic and Advanced Players Guide and Advances Class Guide. Only one missing is Advanced Race guide.
For around 15 bucks you get pretty much every major book to have. Crazy deal.

If you look at the 25 dollar deal you get a ton of more stuff even if you got most of the core books. The beginners box set is great with all the pawns and what not if you ever get to hosting a traditional sit around the table and bring your dice kind of game.

I'm confused about the Wall of Names. The handout implied that the monument was made specifically to honor Selmius, but the most recent post makes it sound like a more general monument to dead Pathfinders. Which is it?
Regnel
|
I figured out the confusion I had about the Wall of Names. It is both a monument to fallen Pathfinders in general and to Selmius in particular. The Wall was commissioned in 4330 after Selmius died, and it was meant to record the deaths of all Pathfinders who died in service to the Society. Which is why Adolphus' note calls the Wall a memorial to his master. (Seeker of Secrets, p. 29)
I don't know if anyone else cares, but it has been bugging me. Wiffle!
