ou identify these statues as Graven Guardians.
Graven guardians are human-sized constructs of clay, stone, wood, or similar materials, crafted and painted to resemble a deity or a deity's favored servants. When not in motion, a graven guardian appears identical to a temple or crypt's statue, but while active, graven guardians look extremely lifelike.
Graven guardians are inexorably tied to a specific deity's faith. While unintelligent and thus lacking any real personality, a graven guardian has the ability to recognize fellow worshipers or minions of its deity and does not treat them as enemies unless they first attack. This recognition does not extend so far as to allow these worshipers (or those cunningly disguised as worshipers) to give a graven guardian new orders. As with all constructs, a graven guardian follows only the orders of its creator.
They are constructs, and subject to the construct rules:
Constructs are immune to death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects), necromancy effects, paralysis, poison, sleep, stun, and any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects, or is harmless). Constructs are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. Constructs are not at risk of death from massive damage.
Also, being an object, they have hardness, in this case DR5/Adamantine
"People, these are mindless constructs. Destroy them if you can. Be advised, as in most constructs, they are immune to any mind effecting magic and will likely not be affected by any life altering magic or skill. These things are hard and will resist a small amount of any physical damage, unless your weapon is made of Adamantine. So if your going to hit them, hit them hard!"
Dax chuckles. Constructs? Oh they were not immune to the ice and snow, they were just as susceptible to the elements as anything. "Freeze, freeze and shatter!" Cold energy focuses around the statues, hoping to freeze them such that their movement breaks them into smaller pieces.
Ranalus: Uses his devine power to increase his luck.
Henrikuaxian: hurls a magic missle at the statue, making a tiny dent.
Aarion: Hitting the mark, the arrow is not as effective as you would think. It still chips off some stone.
Dax: gathers again the power of ice and hurls it at the statue.
spell resistance:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
The ice has no effect on the statue!
Kaa uses his divine power to bless the party.
Statues: They amble forward, apperantly not sophisticated enough to go for something else then the closest foe.
Red goes towards Aarion, blue towards Kaa.

Ranalus drops his bow, moves while drawing his rapier, and attacks the red one with Divine Favor, flanking and Bless. Also, it is possibly prone (not factored in).
Attack:1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 12 Damage:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Well, that's no good.
(Thank you Ralph Cauthorn) Assuming its possible to utilize the token's (Allied Offensive) ability to Kaa's attack, he will do an additional 1d8 points of damage and that target is considered flanked until the beginning of his next turn. I will post based upon this being OK. If it is not, please modify the attack accordingly.
(Aid token additional damage):1d8 ⇒ 2
Watching as the construct reacts to the distraction, Aarion drops his bow and draws his scimitar. Bringing every ounce of strength he can muster, the inquisitor brings his blade down into a powerful overhead swing.
Seeing I can't speak for the group, I posted with my sugestion. If the group decides not to use the token, then I will modify my action accordingly. Seeing we are confronting multiple enemies with a +11 to attack and a hardness of 5, I found the use prudent. Slap my wrist if I was wrong. I'll be more than glad to shoot at them from 200 feet away (LoL).....
WITHDRAW....... followed by another WITHDRAW.....followed by the plunking sound of an arrow bouncing off the hard exterior of the statue, (HEHE). Of course I will be more than happy to include some invigorating verbiage to inspire a heighten seance of moral support for those willing to stand in-front of that +11 attack.
Well I suppose I have a face smashing coming after that commentary (LoL).
Just remember, they have a high chance to hit, but they are REALLY stupid. And by really, I mean mindless. I dont know your level of experience, but this is the ultimate fight to use tactics. Look at the grease. Mindless opponents will stand up and provoke after prone. They will go after the closest opponent, allowing for tag team tactics. They have no gear, so once you disarm them, they have no backup, ect. Use their mindlessness against them.

wouldn't the damage bonus be 2d8, since we allied with the azlanti and are now treated as one tier higher? Regardless, assuming Kaa hits, I'm OK with using it now. These guys are nasty.

figment illusions were next on my list :). Only DC 11 though, so I thought to lead with grease. If we don't use the aid token now, Aarion would still be flanking red with Ranalus, right?
I posted the base values from the scenario, as there are conditions that modify them (like the azlanti allies). Also, they hold daggers, as the dagger is the holy weapon of Ydersius. But they hold just the one (I also dont recommend googeling for snake statues for finding appropriate pictures. That why you got a pair of angels. They dont make your eyes bleed)
wouldn't the damage bonus be 2d8, since we allied with the azlanti and are now treated as one tier higher? Regardless, assuming Kaa hits, I'm OK with using it now. These guys are nasty.
That is an interesting point. Should it have been 2d8?
Dax seems a little upset at the lack of impact that last blast had. These things were resistant or potentially immune to ICE? That would not do. However it looked as though this blast would also be ineffective. "I seem to be rather... ineffective against these statues. Perhaps one could benefit from healing?" Dax offers, as the blasts were fizzling, drawing forth a wand.
I don't know what their SR is, but I have no weapon, and I haven't gotten a second blast yet (Level 7). If I gave someone that wand, I'll have it back and start UMD'ing.
Henrikuaxian: Covering the ground in a large puddle of grease appears to be very effective, as Red falls prone with a lage thud.
Ranalus: The arrow goes wide as Red falls down.
Kaa: strikes at the target, causing large cracks to appear all over the statue. additional aid:1d8 ⇒ 7

Aarion: Working tandem with his pathfinder allies, Aarion ads insult to Kaa's injury. (9 damage)

Statues Large cracks have appeared on blue, but it mindlessly continues on its target.

But again Kaa proves too nimble to get hit.
Red stands up so its is more effecient in attacking, and goes for Aarion again.

I dont know everyones system mastery, but as a GM, I can help. Mindless creatures will persue, even if things pose a potential danger. They wont follow you off a cliff, but for example, if you withdraw so you dont provoke, and then move to the other side of the grease, they will persue you, forcing them to make another reflex save. And if they fail, they will go prone, and then they will try to stand up again. Provoking another attack of oppurtunity.

Henrik flicks his wrist once more, and his Silent Image wand flies into his grasp. He focuses his attention on his friends, waiting for just the right moment.
Ready an action to cast Silent Image from the wand as soon as everyone else has taken their turns, before the statues move again.
When that happens:
Henrik flicks his wand, and a stone wall springs up all around the grease square, open to the north. The wall image is 5 feet thick, so that his friends are inside the wall (and thus should grant them an automatic DC11 will save). 10 feet north of Blue, there is an image of Ranalus, leaning against the wall. Area of illusory wall marked in red, position of illusory Ranalus marked in blue. Since they are not inside the illusion, and there is a visible enemy, I'm really hoping they don't get a will save until they attack the image of Ranalus.

I understand, Henrik. Dax, I have your wand here.
Ranalus stabs at the prone statue as it tries to stand.
Modifiers are Divine Favor, Flanking, Bless, and attacking prone opponent. I am not sure if it is denied its Dex (the Acrobatics rules for movement in Grease).
AOO:1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 4 = 19 damage:1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Then on his turn he will attack (standard), pull out Dax's wand (move), and hold it out in his buckler hand for Dax to retrieve.
AOO:1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 26 damage:1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
First attack probably misses, and second might not breach the DR. Hoping for a crit to do some real damage, or may switch to aiding Kaa's attacks.
Aarion, did you count Bless and prone in your AOO?
And then Henrikuaxian's action happens...
Will:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Aarion, did you count Bless and prone in your AOO?
No I did not. I forgot about bless and I assumed the GM would apply situational modifiers. I am guessing the attack hit, but for only 1 point of damage. That's why I thought the aid token would be better used for burst damage rather than the bardic performance. If it wasn't for the (DR 5) I would have opted for the bardic performance as well.
Dax intended to retrieve the wand from Ranalus, but finds that impossible due to the wall now encroaching on the space Ranalus was in. Dax sighs, having not a lot of luck with illusions thus far. A glare is directed at Henrikuaxian, before Dax begins walking AROUND the wall.
Aarion, did you count Bless and prone in your AOO?

Yes, its easier for me to apply the modifiers in effect on the monster. So you roll your thing, and I just substract things from the monster and see if that works. It makes it easier to avoid applying penalties (or bonuses) double.
Aarion: Flat on the ground lowers the statues defenses, but the attack leaves only a scratch. 1 damage, 4 HP healed back
Kaa: Has no luck as none of his attacks land.
Ranalus: Doesnt have much luck either. The first swing misses, and the second hits, but appears to deal no damage.
Dax: Retrieves the wand, and starts walking.

If Ranalus gets an AOO as red leaves the threatened flanked square:
Attack:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24, and it should be denied its Dex as it is using Acrobatics to move.

Then for his turn, he will attack red and 5' step back.
Attack:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 Confirm:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

My understanding is that if you are standing in the illusion, like Ranalus and Kaa, you get an automatic save, no action required. If you were to try walking into the wall, you would get an automatic will save by virtue if walking into the illusory space. If I had called out that it was an illusion, I believe you would get a free will save, but so would they if they understand common. Otherwise, it is a full round action to study the illusion without touching it and get a will save.

"Kaa, please stay where you are. I'm about to do you a *big* favor" Henrik says with a grin.
Not posting yet as Kaa can still do an attack of oppurtunity, and Aarion can act as it does not take him a full round to save so he can still put on the hurt, so to speak
Assuming that disregarding the illusion is a free action, Aarion will perform the following. Note: I am not able to access the map till later tonight.
After observing the flaws within the illusion, Aarion steps into the image and sheaths his sword. Moments after stowing his blade, he picks up the bow at his feet.

Standard action to finish full round cast time, enlarging Kaa to fill the space 5 feet west and south of his current location. Can't update map right now, will do later. Ranalus moves up and around to provide flanking on blue. He cautiously attacks to distract blue from Kaa's attack (expertise for AC 22, cancels out Bless).
Aid Another:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
So Kaa has +2 from flanking and +2 from Aid Another.
Aarion moves slightly to the left while watching the movement of the red animation. Once in place he draws back his bow and fires another blunt tipped arrow at the thing.
(Free action) Five foot adjustment, (Move action) Study target on the red statue, (Standard action) Attack the red statue.
Dax carefully moves under the enlarged Kaa, then tries to activate the wand of wound curing on Aarion! Unfortunately, this being a time when healing is necessary, the wand of course fizzles. "Bah. This will not work. Friend, will you take on a burden of fatigue to heal your true pains?"
At long last, the Pathfinder Society has reassembled the Numerian device known as the Sky Key. Initial tests suggest it is capable of projecting a location’s past into the present, allowing Society agents to peruse books from destroyed libraries and speak with echoes of long-dead heroes. Now that it has perfected the Sky Key’s controls, the Pathfinder Society is prepared to extract a slice of Absalom’s history and bring it into the present; however, there’s no telling what might be waiting inside—or who in the present might wish to wield the same power.

It wont be long before we start. I'll open the gameplay threat a few days before we start so character discussions can get underway.
Im opening the discussion threat now so you can get to know eachother abit out of character if you want, and do some character discussions. Due to the fast paced nature, its good to know some out of character mechanics about each of your characters.
An average height man, wearing a breastplate, enters the room. He wears an ornately decorated scimitar on his left side and caries a well made dark-wood composite longbow in his left hand. Although most of his face is covered with a dark hood, the gray of his beard protrudes past the hood, revealing his maturity.
After taking a moment to glance around the empty room, the man quietly pulls out a chair from a nearby table and makes himself comfortable.
I'm opening up the game play threat monday, so we have about a week to do introductions in character (and I can give a bit more background info on the special)
The discussion threat is more so we can let eachother know if there are special things about our characters, what tactics you like to use. Or if your character always goes in front, or always at the back for example.
For those interested in motivations and background.
Aarion's Background:
For the biggest part of my life, I have fought against an intimate desire to take life. An urge so overpowering that its seduction left little doubt about my future. I knew early on, that my path in life had been designated, and there was little I could do to circumvent it. That predetermined destiny, drove me to become a monster that lurked the streets of Magnimar.
Many nights, I stood in the shadows and watched as the towns simpletons made their nightly calls. Going over in my mind, all the possible ways I could end their inconceivable lives. I recall how eagerly I anticipated the day that I would no longer be able to control the urge. My chosen victim would know fear, and would fully understand the horrors that waited around every corner of this miserable world. I remember my hands trembling fiercely the day I selected my first victim. The anticipation was euphoric, beyond any ecstasy I had ever experienced. Quietly I waited, as she made her way through the business district. I watched her every move, day after day. I knew when she would be most vulnerable, and I didn’t hesitate to exploit that opportunity. I can’t put into words the conclusion of that night, but I can say that anything less than experiencing it would only diminish its true impact.
I was known as the baseline killer. Famous you could say if you consider fear to be a form of fame. There were many who lost their lives to my lack of self-control. Looking back on my deeds, I feel remorse for the families that must now endure the darkness that fallowed my wake. Thirteen lives in all were snuffed out before my reign of terror was brought to an end. Eight confirmed and five that now lie in a shallow graves.
I found the confines of prison to be stifling. I was kept separate from the general population in order to prevent them from killing me. Looking back on events, I can’t say I would have blamed them if they had. There were many nights I considered taking my own life. It would have been my final kill. It would have been easy, and those that feared my return would finally be at peace.
Held tight within the confines of the Hells, my soul became as dark as a starless night. Deep inside I withered, hoping for a quick and final death, which would leave me finally at peace and rid of the urge to kill. I longed for it, and surly it was the only inevitable conclusion.
In my darkest hour, I came across a man who spent a lifetime locked within the Hell’s embrace. Only two cell’s away from mine, I listened to the man rant about a light so bright that it blinded the world of his crime. A light, I laughed. There was no light, and I doubted either of us would ever see the light of day again. I assumed the man had lost his mind, yet he was the only human contact I had. Night after night he spoke of this light and its warmth. In time, I began to believe that this man's imaginary light had become the only warmth left for a wretch like me. The only thing left in a world that had turned its back in a declaration of denial.
The time finally came when his sermon came to an end. The nights that followed his death, brought with it endless silence. Somewhere within the darkness, I finally understood the meaning of his obsession. In his absence, I found the light, and the light brought with it, hope. Warmth within one’s self that fuels compassion, understanding, and wellness. A small shimmer of hope, that gives life purpose. In the darkness I sat, with just enough of this light to see the blood on my own hands. The kind of blood that can never be washed away and serves as a constant reminder of what I once was. I can say now, in that moment, I truly understood how much darker the world had become after I extinguished the light within those thirteen people.
Over the course of my stay in the Hells I learned to nurture that inner light. It was a small shimmer of hope in an otherwise hopeless existence. From that point on, I chose to embrace the light. Within it's warmth I found the embodiment of Sarenrae. In her light, I found forgiveness. Embraced by her compassion, I became reborn. I have now devoted myself to a new life of servitude. A life compelled by the teachings of Sarenrae in a reflection of her understanding.
The day finally came for the final decision on my last possible appeal. That appeal was my only hope for a second chance. On that day, I was brought to the top level of the Hells where I could bask in the warmth of the sun one last time. In that moment, she came to me as an effigy of redemption. She offered me one final opportunity at life, and I embraced it.
The final decision confirmed my release. Do to some impossible, unexplainable reason, they decided I should be released. It was a miracle, no doubt sent by Sarenrae.
Upon my release, I was forced to relocate out of Magnimar, so I chose to join the open-minded Pathfinder Society and move to Absalom. Working within the origination, I have been given the chance to leave my past behind and pursue a new path. Although the urge to kill still presents itself from time to time, I have found the resolve to work past it and embrace the teachings of the goddess. Through her, I have found the will to suppress the darkness.

I'll do the in-character bits in the gameplay thread. For OOC strategy:
Ranalus is my -1, and not highly optimized, but he's got some strengths. With +15 Perception, 40' speed, and Door Sight ability, he's a good scout. Can disable non-magical traps (+12). Moderately capable switch-hitter with a few spells. He has a good AC but not many HP. He has some gold to spend on consumables if we know what our mission will entail. His mobility and AC may make him the battlefield medic, running around with his CLW wand if need be.

It generally occurs between scenarios. You mention it the next time you play.
Generally there is time in the scenario too. The venture captain gets you your mission, and before you leave you can shop for items appropriate for your mission.
If there is stuff your character wants to buy, let me know here. Your character purchased it on the way out of absalom just before this mission started.
Also, can everyone update what they played with their character on their charactersheet? Previously played adventures can give an advantage in this special... *wiggles eyebrows*

I just remembered I never posted in here about character mechanics. As a lower level than you all, I will likely try to stay out of the way and focus on some battlefield control mechanics. I'm particularly fond of silent image, having a wand of it and usually at least one prepared to take advantage of extended illusions. I also have the ability to use Ghost Sound within 30ft to provide flanking to anybody who needs it. I also am fond of grease and color spray, as needed.
Other than that, I have a decent collection of consumables I like to use. A wand of magic missile is my preferred standby (ping ping), I can handle my own healing with a wand of infernal healing, and I have a handful of situational scrolls/potions/alchemical items.
If anybody can benefit greatly from Enlarge Person, let me know, as I have a couple of scrolls of that on hand as well.

Are we supposed to move our own characters on the game map, or do we say what movement we are doing and GM Woran updates the map appropriately?
You can move your own marker. I have no trouble with that. In combat I actually prefer it as it saves time.
In combat I group inititive. I also process actions in order of posting. This not only makes it easier for me, but also for your buddies. If we have a large grouped initiative like now, and you can post, please do. That way, if for example Dax posts first, and says, I cast grease, everyone else can take that into acccount after posting, instead of going back to earlier post and having to adjust more and more. (otherwise you get, if Dax does A, then I do B, but if he does C, then I de D posts, and it gets really confusing really quickly)

Gotta admit, going into this I never expected to feel bad over killing a pair of obviously evil, slave-capturing, racist, dinosaur-sneak-attack-toting, evil-snake-worshipping, would-be murderers! That is a new one for me :D
Ranalus did say he'd have limited connectivity for a few days.
I was about to go to bed, timezones what they are, I figure that my middle of the night falls together with your active posting time (evening), so I tend to wait if something pops up. If not, I can bot the following morning.

Yes, will try to check in once a day but feel free to bot me.
Will heal, stealth, use Door Sight, and attack as needed (melee and ranged equally valid).
Don't have that many spells so trying to conserve them for when absolutely the best option.
It has 10 foot reach, and the ceiling is 15 foot high, so it basically can only reach under itself.
Also, how does Dax get +5 damage on his blast? I get 1 from point blank, and 2 from half your con score on an energy blast. Unless you have a point of burn that I forgot.
Elemental Overflow. I have 1 Burn, so I get +1 on attacks and +2 on damage. And yeah, it's from my shield bonus. I can put one burn in there to increase it by 1.
Oh, now I see. Shroud of water normally doesnt cause burn, but you took one freely to up your armor, and get more damage/to hit.
I hadnt see you do an action where you got burn, so I assumed you hadnt aquired any yet.
I think I said that I had 4 NL somewhere. Totally an easy thing to miss. I actually learned about AOMF yesterday. Did not know you could have a +0 Agile AOMF.
Things have gotten nice and chaotic here as we are approaching our local con weekend. I've got games both saturday and sunday, with sunday being the day we run the special. I will do my best to check as often as I can. But especially sunday will be hard.

Without disbelieving, you cannot see through it, but it does not block any effects. In theory, you could shoot through it just fine, but you have no idea where the enemy is located. You should get another will save since you are currently standing inside the illusion, and thus interacting with it, I think, but I'm not sure about that or about what kind of action that would take, if any.
I recieved confirmation that there are six different boons available for players to win at the end of the game day. It will be a while, but at the end of the special, stick around for the chance to win one :)

How are we doing on time for the scenario? I know we have a little less than a month to finish up; are we in danger of not getting everything done if we stick around?
