Sorry, I'm confused. So they both cast a spell, then moved, then attacked? If they are casting quickened spells, I think we are in trouble... Do we get a description of what effect happened when red finished casting? Can I make a spellcraft check to identify? Also, just to make sure we are on the same page, Red now has 4 damage and Blue has 13, right?

Ranalus will take a shot at blue, then stow his bow.
Longbow into melee: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

GM Woran |

Hur dur, hurried posting is a baaaaaaad thing.
You identify the spell cast as Frigid Touch.
When red finishes casting, you see the simularca grasp its staff, and the cold energy crackles trough the staff, but doesnt harm the simularca.
Kaa: slashes at the simularca and tears a deep gash in its side. 17 damage
Ranalus: Shot does wide.
Dax: Shoots a block of ice at Blue.

Henrik gestures and shouts, and the floor under the red Simulacra is covered in a slick grease. He then moves back.

Kreighton Shaine: Withdraws.
Simularca: Blue casts a spell, then tries to strike Ranalus with its staff.

Rapier attack on blue: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Ranalus: Luck is not with Ranalus, and his attack misses.
Dax: RangedTouch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10
With another solid hit from Dax, the blue simularca crumples on the ground.
The moment blue is down, both downed simularca start to fade, and in the back of the room, two new simularca start to take shape.
1d4 ⇒ 2
"I estimate we have about 12 seconds before the new simularca have attained consistent shape!", Shaine shouts.
Its two rounds before the new simularca act. Everyone can post their actions in one go if you want, or discuss a little bit out of character first

These machines that are sparking and smoking are the source of the simulacra? I may have a solution if you can buy me some time.
Ranalus has Resist Energy (electricity) up, and a decent Disable Device check. Can he try to disable the machines?

![]() |

Can the simulacra be attacked as they are manifesting? If so Aarion would begin attacking at range for both the rounds they take to manifest. If for some reason they can not be targeted during the manifestation period, then apply the following attacks as (1) ready action, (2) disregard if not viable.
Round (1) Manifestation period, (or) ready action for round (1)
Aarion moves to the side of the room, placing the small alcove to his flank. After gaining, what he considers a better vantage point, the inquisitor draws back his bow and fires at one of the manifestations, as the begin to materialize.
(Move action) Move 20', (Standard action) Fire at one of the simulacra.
(Attack) MW Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26 (Attack includes PBS, and PS.)
(Damage) MW Composite Longbow: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Round (2) Manifestation period, (or) disregard if they they are not viable targets.
Once relocated, Aarion observes the simulacra carefully. After evaluating the process he draws another arrow and fires once again at the image.
(Move action) Study target on one of the simulacra, (Standard action) Fire at the target.
(Attack) MW Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 10 (Attack includes PBS, and PS.)
(Damage) MW Composite Longbow: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 7

GM Woran |

The simularca dont attain solid form untill the end of the second round. Untill then, attacks pass trough them, so a ready would work. Doing a disable device check on the machines wont stop the simularca from working, it might buy you a round or two of more time, so better save that untill you really need it. The simularca fight is one great slog, you defeat a wave, more form. Every wave defeated is a success, and weakens Lady Arodeth, so its very effective. But the more rounds you go, the more hurt you get and the lower you get on resources. So a few extra rounds later on might make a difference. You can also decide to go back outside and find another anchor if this gets boring/too hard.

![]() |

Assuming they are not target-able until the end of the second round, Aarion will use his first attack as a ready action (If either begin to cast a spell, he will target that one and fire.)

![]() |

Ranalus moves and casts Divine Favor, then readies to shoot the first one that tries to cast a spell.

![]() |

If I could make a team strategy suggestion here - these guys are casters. They hate melee. We know exactly where they are going to come in. If Aarion, Ranalus, and Kaa could all get in melee range and surround their position, they would be in a terrible position to cast anything AND we could easily flank them. Dax could set up a good sniper position. Finally, I could potentially drop another swirling darkness illusion, like the hallway, all over the area where they are appearing, so they will be flanked, in melee, and blind without a DC17 will save. If they always appear at the same location each time, I could just maintain concentration the whole time, and we could rinse and repeat.

![]() |

Honestly, I don't think Silent Image is intended to be able to have the effect of Mass Blindness. It seems very unbalanced, and I'd rather not use that trick again. Melee formation for the wave after this sounds fine to me.

Moved Dax into a tactically better position so we can continue. The special ends at midnight on the 10th, and we still need several successes at several points to succeed, so I'm rushing a bit.

Question: is the pathway between the electrical pillars safe to move through, or is the electricity arcing to the point it is unsafe? Also is the grease spell still active?
Aarion, once again, draws back his bow and fires an arrow at the red Simulacra. After releasing the shot, the inquisitor moves back to a distant vantage spot.
(Standard action) Attack the red Simularca using the attack #2 from my previous post, which I am assuming misses, (Move action) Move 20'
Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 13 (In case grease is still active.)
Attack was a (10) +1 for bless.
Damage was a (7)

The grease spell should still be there by duration - 2 minutes, or 20 rounds, and so far it's been about 4ish rounds. I can use a standard action to dismiss if it is getting in the way.

With Ranalus and Kaa's joint effort, Red bites the dust again!
This time, its Aarions turn to miss a shot.
Dax: RangedTouch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 = 13
Simularca: Blue is unfazed by reds bleeding body on the floor. She casts a spell. concentration check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Shaking Henrik's magic missle off like its nothing, she approaches and strikes Ranalus, who is protecting the Gnome.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
The attack is a miss, but the staff the simularca is holding still crackles with cold energy.
Moving between the two pillars appears to be very unsafe. Electricity arcs between them, and you think the only reason you can stand safely next to them is because they seem more attracted to eachother, then to your metal armor clad form.

The green dome overhead ripples and flexes, visibly weakened but still present. The same woman’s voice from earlier booms from everywhere and nowhere at once.
