Just so you know; I was under the impression you were hugging the ceiling of this room. Otherwise, you are totally in the blast radius. I think it can be reasonable for you to create a pit and fly down it without taking damage. If you decide to let yourself fall, you will be taking fall damage.

Let's go with that, then. I may very well have said before I was hugging the ceiling, just forgot. I should probably indicate height on the map when I'm flying, anyway. Falling damage shouldn't be much more than my temporary hit points, so I think it's worth it.

is this considered a spell? Probably moot but armor provides SR/25 . Freedom of movement help against sphere?

@GM, is the Herald still pinned?
@Marduk, Artemis, Hugo, and Nalshene: for your saves, don't forget that Fortune allows you to roll twice and take the better result on one d20/round
Agata Reflex, using Fortune for Round 8: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28
Agata Reflex, using Fortune for Round 8: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36 Assuming this makes it, Agata has Evasion, so she takes no damage and does not have to make a Fort save
Sweet Mawd Reflex: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 Sweet Mawd will use Duck and Cover to use Agata's "18" die roll, for a total result of 32. Assuming this makes it, Sweet Mawd has Improved Evasion, so she takes no damage and does not have to make a Fort save. However, she is staggered for her next turn as a result of using Duck and Cover.
@GM, re altitude, both Agata and Sweet Mawd are flying, but I can't recall if I ever said what height they are at. Agata would have descended to be within range of the people she was hexing, and Sweet Mawd needed to descend to cure Marduk, so are you ok with saying that they are both at 15' altitude?
@GM, if more than one person fails their save vs the resilient sphere effect, will there be one large sphere, or different ones for each person? I'm asking because Agata has one disintegrate spell left
I'll wait to act until I see how many people are trapped by how many resilient spheres.
Fortune (Marduk): expires before Agata's turn on round 9
Fortune (Artemis and Hugo): expires before Agata's turn on round 10
Fortune (Nalshene and Agata): expires before Agata's turn on round 10
(Fortune lets you roll twice and take the better result on a d20 roll, once per round, and you have to decide to use it before rolling.)
Misfortune (Herald of Unity): expires before Agata's turn on 10

The herald is still pinned, it would be individual spheres by my reckoning and we're just going to remember to put altitude indicators somewhere to allow everyone to visualize the scene correctly from here on out.

Sensing that her control of the spell is slipping Venture Captain Nalshene's casts a powerful abjuration upon their opponent but the spell finds no purchase on the creature or its abilities. With discretion being the better part of valor, she creates a hole and allows herself to "drop on in". Thankfully most of the damage that sort of a fall would inflict upon her is absorbed by the False Life she has upon her.
How much false life does that leave you with?
Thanks to Agata's appeal to Pharasma and Desna's powers over fate and fortune, everyone manages to get out of the way of the explosion of purple light.
The Herald is still on the ground. He's just fired up the thrusters. He was expecting much more failure on your reflex saves.
Marduk, having had enough of the high-energy regimen inflicted by the Herald, steps on in amidst Ophelia's harrowing screams. And while the blade cannot overcome the reinforced metal... Well. Denting the enemy into submission is not an often-used tactic. And at the end of the barbarian's ministrations, it becomes apparent why: the robot still stands.
"Shame. You would ha..."
It stops mid-sentence and slowly turns its head around to the Rose of Taldor, whose thin blade has split the now-exposed power core. "Fascinaaaatiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng."
And with that, Unity's Herald is no more.
***Somewhere else***
Unity's gaze snaps back into focus, looking down at its minions. It sweeps its gaze at the idyllic hills surrounding its temple, sweeping white marble colonnades flanking ponderous stairs. Genuflecting in an almost trance-like fashion, dozens of beings offer their praise to the new god. The savior. "Prepare yourselves for battle. The pagans have breached our innermost sanctum. This world will be saved."
***Back in the computer core***
The herald crashes to the ground, in pieces as the zelekut breaks apart the remainder of the pseudo-angel. Breathing heavily besides the central console in a rapidly increasing pool of blood, metal sparks emanating from her broken metallic limbs, lies a still living Ophelia. Completely helpless, she eyes you with an air of resignation.
Happy 2019!

Happy New Year
”Fascinating indeed! What of her blob friend. That was her last wish. “

![]() |

Wincing through the pain of her injuries, Miranda nonetheless takes only a second to gaze down at the beaten Herald.
"If this was Unity in partial strength... we may be in for a challenge," she remarks deadpan. Then, she hurries to Ophelia, crouching by her, though she hasn't the faintest idea to begin with the unprecedented level of grotesque injuries that distort the former cleric's body.
"Uh.... healer!" she calls out helplessly, while fumbling a potion of curing from her belt. "Ophelia. I heard your request. I have sworn to fulfill it as best I can-- but what is the threat to him? Does Unity have plans for Choek?"

![]() |

Gritting her teeth through what must be an immense amount of pain, Ophelia replies: "I would... Not heal me... Till Unity is no longer." She hisses slightly as she attempts to move to a more comfortable position. "It still has... Control of its gifts... To me." She takes a long pause. "Your people are a threat to Choek. The same as the kytons, the mad hologram, the robots... There is no place... in the world for "monsters" who defy the established order. " She motions with her head to Hugo. "The Abadarian knows this... in his innermost heart. And the half-breeds" she continues, nodding at Urko and Marduk "recognize this... deep in their hearts. Whether or not they... are fool enough to believe the lie they have... had to weave to not be slaughtered in this world..." She leaves the sentence hanging, choosing instead to answer the second question. "Unity has... plans for us all. I could have protected Choek from the worst of... them had I not thrown it all away. Maybe." Her gaze looks away, as if she herself understands the enormity of that lie. Not willing to dwell on it, lest the rest of her crumbling beliefs break down into nothing before her, she continues: "You and I have doomed us all. Everyone. Everywhere. Even if Unity does not launch itself and the Divinity's Drive into space above Golarion, our world... Heh. Why bother. You don't believe me."

![]() |

I would ask Abadar to heal you. And I do believe you now. But how do we end Unity permanently? Then our world, Choek and even you might see peace. If we cannot stop him, can we destroy the drive?
Hugo will either exclude or move the injured allies away from any enemies, and then channel.

That was all of Nalshene's False Life, but it meant she only took 2 real damage, so that's nice. :)
Nalshene, hearing the end of the herald above, cancels her pit and rises up.
"Well done, friends. I... honestly can't believe that control spell actually worked. That was lucky for us, and I'm sure we won't have such luck in our next combat. We need to prepare ourselves. For the time being... I am injured and drained, and it looks like several of us are."
So, I currently have 2 temporary negative levels and 27 damage. We're all hurting, but damned if that wasn't an awesome battle! :)

All but Ophelia were robots, you do not need to worry about them receiving channeled energy. However, you might want to exclude her, based on her own words.
Ophelia shakes her head only slightly, as even that movement is enough to send pain coursing through, although it seems at this point that shock is slowly setting in.
"Ending... Unity?" she snorts, cutting the motion short under the pain. "The only way to end the god of Silver Mount would be to enter the Godmind. But that... You might have bested Unity's avatar, but even that is suicidal. The Godmind is... Hmm." She pauses, searching for the right words. "Powerful wizards create entire pocket planes out of their will; the Godmind is like that, except that it is made from Unity, responds to its will immediately. Like a snail's shell, it is both a part of Unity and its home. Entering the Godmind requires only that you place one of those sacred helmets on and will yourself there. Your mind will make you manifest there as you are."
She lays her head back upon the cold hard edge of the console as she continues: "You know Abadarian, I am well-read. Perhaps the most erudite of my kind. Ever. Do you know of the legendary seven Shards of Sin? Those artifacts are cursed by their creators, the mythical Runelords of Thassilon. Yet none have managed to destroy even these things. Do you know why?" She sighs. "Because destroying those artifacts is such a complex burden that none have dared to try for fear of failure. Best to bury them away and hope noone finds them; right? Now that is what it takes to destroy a simple hunk of metal. What do you think it will take to destroy the legacy of a distant star empire? If that is what you are set on doing I hope the keeper of the Vault has gifted you with a lifespan of a few hundred years."
She looks away, adding: "It doesn't matter. Unity has shown me the Downfall." She looks to Miranda, as her hands twitch ever so slightly, electrical sparks showering from her mangled arms. "Abadar teaches mortals what order means, as it builds upon itself to ever-greater heights. Asmodeus shows us what laws and distorting laws can be. Zon-Kuthon explores the limits of pain, the end of what a body can endure in mind and spirit. Keeper of my friend, imagine not a single entity, but a thousand's thousand such creatures who do not care for reality as we conceive of it? Entities that shatter order, shred the laws that have hold upon reality and go beyond anyone's endurance? Entities that see our existence as an insult to even greater beings, wishing only to consume; flesh and blood; meat and bone. Imagine that their mere presence broke your mind as it strains to process it. Unity has born witness. I have seen the images." She chuckles maniacally, addressing everyone. "I do not mean to sound like one of Groetus' flock, but if you succeed, you will have doomed us all. They are coming. Their gods rest in a thousand places, and this world is one. And when they come..." She motions all around her with her head. "See what they did to a people a thousand times more powerful than anyone here will ever be. Or did you think a ship this big crashed through negligence?"

Urko slumps down into the saddle, exhausted by the exertions and the powers which have flowed through him. As he and Artemis graduallly return to their natural size and the divine energies coursing through their bodies subside he shakes his head weariy.
I hear what you say Ophelia, and some of it rings true. Choek is an unusual creature and in many places such difference is not tolerated, but that is not true of all places. We might yet find a home for him where he can thrive.
Poking through the ruins of the "avatar", this monstrosity was powerf and it took our combined might to defea it. Confronting Unity directly will be more difficult still but I do not believe the gods set us challenges which we cannot rise to meet. Having said that defeating this beast cost me much of my strength, I dont know about the rest of you but I need time to recover the power for this next confrontation.
As Ophelia speaks of the dangers to come he shakes his head, Our world is filled with the tales of monsters, empires, demon lords and worse seeking to overthrow it. Yes, somehow, it always seems to endure. I have faith that we will persevere, even in the face of such powers as you describe.
With that he calmly dismounts and checks over Artemis. He murmers to her, You did well girl, I thought I had lost you there, never again, soon both of us might return home and rest but one thing remains to be done. You are up to the task girl, I have faith in you.

Artemis, Animal Companion |

As the avatar of Unity falls Artemis gives the remains one last shake with her huge head. Spitting it out she lets forth a roar of triumph, stretches and then pointedly turns her back on the thing curling up on the floor in the warm glow of the computer core as if it were of no interest to her at all.
As Hugo's healing energy rolls over her she gives a cough, leans over and licks his face in thanks.

![]() |

Ophelia's head sinks back as she chuckles sadly, before quoting: "And so possessed of their hubris where the Azlanti that they did not see the end before it was too late..."
So Pathfinders. What now? Should I just move on to what your exploration of the area reveals (if exploration is something you would do)? Rest? No Rest? Inform me of your desires, and we'll get this going for the climactic encounter!

![]() |

Marduk gives a roar of triumph as the fires of battle die down and the hammering of his pounding heart begin to slow. "A glorious battle."
Hearing Ophelia's warning, the hulking seeker is visibly unimpressed. "We have destroyed her Avatar. We have destroyed whatever remains of her divine will."
A rest would be good but do we run the risk of allowing Unity more time to rally her remaining forces? Also, are we clear on where we need to go for a final confrontation?

![]() |

I am definately for resting. If the final battle is more difficult than that one then we need to go in at full strength, even if it means that Unity gathers more forces. I doubt I could survive a battle that dangerous again.
Hubris, perhaps, I prefer to call it faith.

![]() |

In case it wasn't clear: the final confrontation will happen once you step into the Godmind, a VR construct that holds... Well a bunch of things, but most importantly Unity in its code form made into something you can interact with. As an aside, what are you going to do with Ophelia? I would prefer that last part be determined in character.

![]() |

Nalshene looks at Ophelia. "You seem like the pragmatic type. Join us in our fight against this threat to the universe. You can already see that we will win this fight, I think. We could use your help, and you would be rewarded with our trust, friendship, and a share of any treasures that we wrest from Unity's clutches when it is utterly defeated."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 41 ⇒ (10) + 41 = 51

![]() |

Just noticed a couple spelling mistakes in my posts. Grrr...
Ophelia keeps her gaze "skyward" for a moment, pondering how to phrase her answer. "I can't." Looking back down at the gnomish venture-captain she continues: "I have been rebuilt by Unity. Molded into its vision of the future. While it still exists, every single ounce of my body belongs to it. Unless, of course, you are knowledgeable in Androffan robotics, humanoid-machine interphases, surgery and cybernetics." She motions towards a set of double doors to her far right. "That room is a surgical theater, equipped for augmentation surgery. It is where Unity gave me this form. If you have those skills, you could remove or disable the technology that keeps me beholden to its desire. Then you could heal me without worry, and I would keep watch over your bodies while you were in the Godmind."
She motions towards the opposite side, where an opening leads to a room whose lighting pulses gently. "There lies the entrance to the Godmind. The mindmelders you need lie within." She pauses before adding: "In the room are gem-like devices called facets. Those facets were crafted by Unity to use on her children, the first and second prophets of Unity: Cassandalee and Hellion." She winces as a spark shoots from her shattered legs. "Hellion has been defeated. Cassandalee turned and helped would-be heroes in their quest to defeat Unity. When they were defeated, and their minds placed in the Quiet Garden, she was uploaded into the Godmind." Realising you perhaps do not understand the term, she clarifies: ""She was made manifest in the Godmind. And now, she is likely a prisoner within. She might be willing to ally with you as well, if you free her."
A quick perusal of Ophelia's belongings (without stripping her bare) reveals that she wears a masterwork breastplate and was wielding a rail gun. She wears a belt of mighty constitution +4, a cloak of resistance +3, and she is able to keep the cold of the room at bay thanks to the major ring of cold resistance on her finger. Additionally, she has 5 batteries in a pouch.
I think you have better gear; unless of course you wish to take her belongings to sell (basically get an advance on the gold at the end of the scenario).

![]() |

"I don't know about the rest of my friends here, but it would take me a minimum of weeks or more of study to understand anything about these 'augmentations' you speak of, so I doubt we would be able to help. Instead, it may make sense to send you elsewhere while we rest and during our time in the Godmind, so that Unity does not suddenly take control of you and force you to harm us when we are vulnerable. What do you think, my friends?"
The cloak of resistance +3 would be an upgrade for me, so if she is not averse to it, I would take that and wear it.

![]() |

Ophelia looks down to her twitching, broken body and then back to Nalshene. "I'm not sure I can hurt a cockroach in this state."
Natural healing isn't going to cut it for her. A Heal, Greater Make Whole or spells of that magnitude are probably necessary for her to become a danger to anyone. She also does not care if you take the cloak. Are you planning on resting within Silver Mount?

![]() |

Hugo will channel to heal up the party completely
”Abadar will provide the health to continue. We best be completely rested before entering. “
Channel : 7d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 4, 4, 3, 5) = 31
if another is needed he has some to spare, especially if resting.
The high priest pauses once away from Ophelia
”I could cast heal on her, but should I? One comment made by Ophelia concerns me. We can rest here if desired and post a guard and proper watches. However if we all enter the Mind of Unity , who will guard our bodies as she offered? I pity her but I do not trust she is completely free of Unity’s control. “
so splitting the party seems iffy but if we enter the Matrix we may be vulnerable

![]() |

Urko nods along with Hugo's comments. I would not rest here, we dont know what other firces might still be at large. I dont think it would be safe. We should retreat to the city and return at full strength to enter the core. We need to be prepared for pretty much anything. The avatar was a taste of what is to come, I fear facing unity directly will be exceptionally dangerous.
Looking over to Ophelia he says, I also do not think it is wise to leave her looking over our bodies. While she appears to have changed she herself does not know how much control Unity can still exert over her. Does anyone have a way of containing her until we are done with this?
Of course we could bring her with us and have the Numerians keep hold of her

![]() |

Not to be pushy, but I do need at least one person to second one of the proposed courses of action so I can move this along. We are at the edge of the last fight folks, and an epic fight it will be! Don't leave me hanging!

It's only about 2d4 minutes by what you the player would know as a train car to the Secondary Engineering deck. And from there its only about a minute or two at full speed to get out. To get from the train car from where you are would take at most ten minutes. So... Thirty minutes tops and you are out of the dimentional lock? Sound good?
What is the final verdict on Ophelia? Bring her back to Starfall? In whose hands do you leave her? Zernabeths? Kevoth-Kuls? The Zyphites? And what do you do with Choek? Leave him to hide in the Control deck?

![]() |

I would suggest we bring Ophelia and give her over to Zernabeth until we sort things out. Choek seems to have been fine where he is for a while so I suggst we lave him there for now.

Just need one person to agree to this plan!

![]() |

Sorry I've been so quiet. I think we should at least warn Choek that he maybe wants to lay low and not... talk to Unity, while we try and help his friend, but I'm okay with the rest of that plan.

![]() |

concur with the proposed plan
”I can teleport some of us but probably not all. Not if we bring prisoners or guests. “
Self + 4 other medium sized via greater teleport

Lifting Ophelia off the floor is no harder than picking up a rather heavy and cumbersome rag doll, but as he does so, Marduk does feel the reinforced bones shifting in ways they shouldn't. It is easy to see perspiration form on her brow as the gargoyle's gray skin takes on a distinctly paler tint. But after their deliberations, the pathfinder's plan is clear; and it is with great ease that they make their way onto the command deck to a initially overjoyed Choek, who grows very distressed at the sight of Ophelia in her current condition. After a quick explanation from the more willing and patient members of the expedition, Choek agrees to hide in the ductwork: Should the Pathfinders need them, they should wait in Ophelia's old room.
Once a few dozen feet away from the the lip leading into "Secondary Engineering" Venture-Captain Victor and Marduk again teleport their fellow Seekers in front of the Palace of Fallen Stars, which has the immediate effect of putting every single Kellid guarding it in these early evening hours in a fiercely defensive position, their aggression only tempered by experience. However, the wayfinders some of the team display quickly explain without words what is going on, and soon the - rather large - escort of Kellids leaves you before League Captain Zernebeth, her lieutenant - lieutenant Desaulis - and three men and women of varied racial backgrounds and varying levels of technological self-augmentation. Captain Zernebeth's eyes go from your charge to each of you, her nose wrinkling at the smell of Agata. "It's rather late, but I appreciate that you sought me out. However would you mind giving me a brief rundown of events right now and then tomorrow morning a more detailed account of what in Brigh's name is happening here?"

![]() |

"So just.... stay tight, okay? We're going to try to help Ophelia, and everyone," Miranda promises Choek wanly, with a hesitant pat to the ooze's quivering... flesh.
****
"We'll try, Captain. Let's see.... brief explanation: there's a .... new god manifesting, and it means nothing well for any entities who are not willing to offer their will wholly to it. It claims to be saving us, but is more than willing to kill those who disagree. This-- woman-- was once her cleric and champion, she's... had something of a change of heart. You can see what the 'god' did to her in return.
"We have to return to deal with this Unity-creature, but, we badly need some rest first ourselves. I don't know if there is anything that can be done for Ophelia here-- her pain-- rather than moving her as little as possible while we try and manage the would-be-god."
Miranda murmurs at a lower volume, "If it's possible, sedation might be kindest. And safest."

![]() |

My apologies for the long delay in posting - life has been a bit too hectic lately. Just got caught up reading the thread and everything that has been discussed sounds good to me. Will try to be more timely with my posts going forward.

![]() |

Urko nods as Miranda speaks,, This Unity repreents a severe threat to everyone and we have yet to stop it. We destroyed its Avatar but not without significant difficulty and we have removed many of its minions. It seems to be in an allieance with Kytons and there was a rather troublesome Dragon that refused to be reasonable.
Right now though I for one need some rest and something to eat. If you can find somewhere to make Ophelia comfortable it would be appreciated. We will try and find a solution once we have finally dealt with Unity.

Once we're able to rest and prepare for the next day, Nalshene is going to use her Versatile Spontaneity feat to prepare control construct so that she can use her own level to determine its effects, and use her 3rd-level Ring of Spell Knowledge to learn Disable Construct.. She'll also request that one of the divine casters use restoration on her to remove her negative levels.
"I believe with sufficient preparation, we can vanquish this false god. If there is any additional aid in this fight you can give us, please tell us now.
