"Oh, come off it," Miranda counters Unity's words with a grimace, frustrated by her inability so far to deal much damage. "All this rot about you saving us, sacrifice, how noble you are-- I've heard it all before, from a hundred people who did evil and convinced themselves it was good! What are you saving us FROM, then, and if your masters couldn't manage it why would you be able to?"
Her blade continue to dart, trying to find chinks in the Herald's armor, even as she speaks.

Agata steps forward, giving Artemis a wink and a sly smile; and as the feline feels like Desna is smiling upon her Fortune Hex on Artemis, she cackles loudly. "I don't pretend ta know what you're saying, Noonity, but it sure sounds like a whole lot of hogwash and threats." And as if to underline the lack of interest in the Herald's words, Marduk slashes his blade across it's torso, letting inertia take him for another couple blows, one of which lands off target only to hit the robot again atop the head! But incredibly, even Marduk's starmetal weapon cannot deal with the metals used to forge this creature! Indeed, it looks dispassionately upon the second half-orc and states: "I will have to cleanse this planet of your kind." As Marduk's blade withdraws, it seems as if the thinnest of shimmering forcefields has taken damage, but is quick to repair itself.

And with a display of martial mastery and the highest mechanical processes, the Herald slams the flat of it's battleaxe into the tiger's face, before stomping on a paw to distract her from the overhead chop that catches her straight in the muzzle. As the robots lands one final backhanded metal blow across her maw, it jabs Marduk in his Adam's apple,; as he momentarily clutches his windpipe with one hand, the vicious battleaxe comes up from below, slamming into the half-orcs torso and sending many bits and pieces of his stoneskin pealing away.
The last robot emissary would consider its life choices, if that option had been programmed in. All the while, the zelekut delivers Aktun's firm justice.
Back to you; Hugo feel free to roll more attacks against the helpless dude.

Apologies for the delay - I got home last night but found both wife and child sick - was up most of the night with the daughter - am only just now finally getting a moment at the computer.
@GM, I'm quite ok with the botting choices you made for me - thanks for handling it - but request one minor retcon. I completely forgot that I have the Split Hex feat, which I could have used to apply the Fortune Hex to an additional recipient, both when I did it earlier on Marduk and again this round when you assigned it to Artemis. If you are ok with it, I'd like to retcon to say that when I did the Fortune hex on Marduk the previous round I also did it on Urko, and that when I did it on Artemis this round, I also did it on Hugo. But I'm also fine if you prefer to leave it as is, without those changes.
In any case, with the cackle included, Fortune currently expires for Marduk (and Urko?) before Agata's turn on Round 7, and for Artemis (and Hugo?) before Agata's turn on Round 8

![]() |

You can split this round's fortune hex. Not the round prior's hex. Also, insofar as I understand it, you can keep chuckling evilly to keep that Fortune going right? Also also, we are on the end of round 5 and round 6.

Yep, cackle extends the duration by one round. Fortune has a 2 round duration, so if Agata uses Fortune in round 5 on Artemis and Hugo, it would expire before her turn on round 7, and then cackle extends that to before her turn on round 8. Of course if she cackles again before it expires this will continue to get extended.
So, current state of these hexes is: Fortune (Marduk) expire before Agata's turn on round 7, and Fortune (Artemis and Hugo) expire before Agata's turn on round 8. Reminder for those affected: Fortune lets you roll twice and take the better result on a d20 roll, once per round, and you have to decide to use it before rolling.

The Inevitable continues to beat the robot into submission as Urko heals Artemis all the while calling upon his innate power to sprinkle a few motes upon the Herald's sensors. Urko's companion meanwhile manages to score many hits on the being, but cannot find purchase on it's body.
As sickening, and perhaps worrisome pops and cracks emanate from Ophelia's metal and flesh body, sounding off even over her screaming, Unity's gaze lights up with purple fire. "I HAVE SEEN THE STARS AND HEAVENS, AND FELT THEIR WROTH. YOUR POWER DOES NOT STEM FROM THEM."
But as the robot's eye begins to coruscate with purple power, Nalshene draws a scroll, purchased seemingly years ago; a scroll to control the Herald. As the words of power are uttered, the venture-captain find herself wrestling with the will of a god.
Nalshene's Spellcraft: 1d20 + 26 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 26 + 2 = 47
Unity's Spellcraft: 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (10) + 32 = 42
And in a flash of insight, a god is bested. The construct stands still, power flourishing from it's single eye. A state which Marduk takes advantage of, overloading the force shield.
The only way that could have been more dramatic is if Nalshene had rolled herself. You have bought yourself a round.

OK, so here is where things get a little weird. The Herald is a vessel for Unity, who is just a god-like AI. As such, while Nalshene controls the vessel, Unity can still save against ill-effects against the vessel it's hitching a ride on.

Are you asking about hp? Because while I can't give you specifics, it is at about a third of its maximum.

Agata already took her turn 7 actions (posted above: Fortune on herself and Nalshene, Cackle to extend for everyone). Unless we are on to round 8 now?

![]() |

Nope, just forgot to edit properly.

I was just looking for some sort of idea of how much damage it had taken, that's fine.
Urko calls out to the Heavens to grant him the strength to stoop this monstrosity. Focusing their power he smites the creature, engulfing it with bright green flame from Taanager himself.
Urko casts Bestow Grace of the Champion and then smites the robot as a swift action, assuming it is evil? He then draws his morning star.

Miranda continues a steady circling step pattern, continuing to try to work her way into a joint attack with Artemis but not there yet. She foregoes the witticisms to try to focus on her bladework, sweat sheening her face beneath the mask.

It is evil, although it is not an outsider, nor an undead. It could be a dragon; at this point, who knows. But not dragon enough for the purposes of smite.
Nalshene
Finally, Miranda's blade finds purchase in the most vulnerable parts of the machine that is the Herald. As she pulls her blade out from the now-ruined eye, she makes eye contact with Ophelia. And in a single moment, she can read the gargoyle's lips. "Save... Choek..." she mouths wordlessly, in an instant before both her arms break in a spectacular fashion, armored bone breaking through her flesh, blood gushing from her newfound wounds. The veins on her neck bulge, and at least one blood vessel has popped in her eye as she mightily attempts to push back against the inexorable force that is trying to snap her neck.

Spellcraft vs Nalshene: 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (4) + 32 = 36

Nalshene feels her control of the construct slipping as within the spellscape conjured by her control spell a pattern, replicating like a ordered fractal, blots out her grasp upon the Herald. And a voice echoes within her mind. "I believe most creature would feel anger at your audacity. I only feel pity. Your efforts are misguided. And soon you will understand why."
So Sweet Maud, Urko, Artemis and Hugo (who has 2 rounds worth of actions) may go before the Herald gets to unleash its laser.

Being evil is enough for smite, the outsider, dragon or undead parts are only for the extra damage on the first hit.

Raising his morning star high in the air Urko tries to bring it crashing down to end this manifestation of Unity once and for all.

All of your attacks hit the Herald. The Herald has hardness 20. So... Whatever clears that mark?

"And now you die" intones Unity's robotic vessel.
@Nalshene: You are very lucky that I cannot get you along with those people Unity needs to attempt to lock in place. Also, killing you twice would be poor sport.
And with a gout of purple energy, the Herald unleashes its eyebeam.
Urko, Artemis, Hugo, Marduk, Sweet Maud and Agata: please make a Reflex Save. Should you fail, I will need you to make a Fortitude save to avoid being encapsulated in your own personal resilient sphere effect.
Boom (Force Damage) - Half on successful reflex save (or none): 20d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 2, 6, 1, 2, 5, 6, 1, 5, 1, 2, 6, 1, 4, 4) = 63
It then begins to rise, standing up on its feet as small gouts of flame appear beneath its feet as it begins to rise slightly off the ground. "Fret not child. I will come to you" it booms at Nalshene.

![]() |

"Eep! Hold on guys!" Nalshene flies into the middle of her allies and casts greater dispel magic trying to dispel any of the spheres that materialized around them. It's a 20-ft burst, so she had to move 10 feet to do it.
Dispel check, DC 11+caster level: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31 Well, that just might work!
Then, in order to separate herself from her allies as best she can, Nalshene quickly conjures a pit directly below her, and allows herself to follow it downward to the bottom.
Okay so here's how I think this works... Nalshene was flying just above the floor. She creates a pit directly below herself using Quickened create pit, and then essentially just falls downward with the bottom of the hole as it's created. I *THINK* this can be done without counting as movement, but I'll let the GM decide for sure (and the GM may decide to have her take falling damage, which would be totally reasonable). This will get her 30 feet away from everyone else straight down, so that hopefully spell effects that target her allies (such as that horrifying eye beam thingy) won't hit her for at least one turn, giving her time to GTFO. I hope. LOL
