Sorry, election day yesterday, was out working the polls all day and was EXHAUSTED by the end of the evening!
Nalshene is struck by all of the fireballs...
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 22
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 25
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 17
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 25
LOL. That puts her at exactly 0 HP.
She casts phase door and phases through the wall, then falls over unconscious.

![]() |

Thank you for working the polls! And don't forget to have your dinosaur/dragonna act!!!

![]() |

Well, I was worried she would take a bunch of damage, but Hugo cannot heal her through the wall. So he will act instead.
Hugo, priest of Abadar that he is, calls out a command to the assembled robot-things and their leader.
We have heard enough of this nonsense.
HALT!!! greater command DC23 on red/green/Ophelia?
(It appears all 3 are within 30' of each other)

Marduk
Nalshene disappears through a wall, looking heavily wounded by the barrage of meteors that landed in the group's midst. In retaliation, Agata launches a powerful ray that seems to hit the head priestess, but dissipates harmlessly against her.
Will Save, Ophelia: 1d20 + 25 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 25 + 2 = 32
Will Save, Green: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Will Save, Red: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
"SHUT! UP!" screeches Ophelia, although whether it is directed to Miranda for her incisive point or to Hugo for his spell is unclear. One of the robots blinks as its processors furiously work to reroute motor functions, while the other emits what one could think is a sigh. "The high priestess weakens herself to elevate you. We have no such compulsions. You may die now."
Green:Flyby Attack, High ground vs Artemis: 1d20 + 22 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 22 + 1 = 31
Blue:High ground, Power Attack vs Agata: 1d20 + 22 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (16) + 22 + 1 - 5 = 34
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 10 = 25
"Repent witch, and Unity will accept you in its bosom" declares the one that flies on over to the staggered Agata to lance her with it's mono-edged blade.
Also, give me a DC 19 Fort Save Agata.
Its companion attempts a fly-by maneuver on Artemis, only to find her defenses to be too formidable. It lands behind its companion, sword at the ready.

![]() |

Any knowledge check to have an idea of why the Enervation had no effect on Ophelia?
Agata Fort: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19 Whew, too close!

Sweet Mawd |

Sweet Mawd retrieves a tiny scroll of Haste from her spring-loaded wrist sheath and (cannot fail the UMD check) casts Haste (5 rounds duration) on Marduk, Narshala, Urko, and herself, and then steps 5' closer to the action.
Caster Level check vs her SR 20: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 She is not hasted

![]() |

To determine why that spell didn't work would require you to spend three rounds concentrating on her auras and making a lot of spellcraft checks.

![]() |

Marduk charges into the chamber and gathers the fiery rage within his heart to his fingertips.
Readying to disrupt again.

![]() |

[dice=Caster Level check vs her SR 20]1d20+5 She is not hasted
SR doesnt affect your own spells which I think would include scroll use.

![]() |

I was going to say you could probably lower your SR on that one and still be fine vs other effects.

This is something that I've heard other people say but I've never been able to find a rules source for it. I've also heard people say that a caster (such as Agata) can cast spells on their familiar without making an SR check, but I also can't find any rules source for that either. Would love to know if anyone has any idea about this.

Sweet Mawd |

I was going to say you could probably lower your SR on that one and still be fine vs other effects.
Well, the problem is that it's a standard action to lower your SR and a standard action to cast the spell. But if it's not necessary to lower the SR then she would be hasted too

It is in the Spell Resistance section of the Glossary.
A creature's spell resistance never interferes with its own spells, items, or abilities.
I dont believe the familiar thing is right

Sweet Mawd |

Interesting. Ok, in that case Sweet Mawd is hasted. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

![]() |

Awesome. Urko, whenever you are ready.

![]() |

Oops, I missed that I was up sorry. How did orange end up between me and Artemis? I will post tonight.
Edit: Aha, it looks like orange readied.

![]() |

Floating into the room Urko sends another blast of electricity at the priestess and the two closest robot minions.
Casting chain lightning again, DC29 reflex from the priestess, DC27 from the rrobots. It deals 16d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 2, 3, 5, 3, 1, 5, 3, 6, 1, 1, 1, 6, 2) = 57 electrical damage
Agata, are you alright there, do you need help? he asks.
I have a swift action left i might use to help out Agata if she needs it.

Just realized I forgot to apply something. Adjusted damage accordingly.
The robot facing Artemis, unable to deal with the excess electrical energy inflicted upon it, collapses to the ground with several thousand pieces of circuitry fried beyond repair. Its peer cannot avoid the chain lightning; but Ophelia manages to avoid a good part of it.

Agata won't say no to some help. Hard to know how much danger she's in. If she puts this think in an ice tomb on her turn then not much. If it resists and full attacks like crazy then potentially risky situation with her squishy self.

Figuring the combat looks fairly well in hand, Hugo looks back and sees the lonely dinosaur in the hall.
”Has anyone seen where Nalshene has wandered off to? She was just here. “
Hugo will a red summon another Zelekhut to help Agata and then heads back into the hallway.

Point of clarification... since I was at 0 HP and then performed the "strenuous activity" of casting before I fell through the door I made, am I actually bleeding out, or just passed out?
Narshala, with her master on the other side of the wall, frantically tries to go find her.
Narshala isn't smart enough to sense where exactly to go, so I'll just have her move back to the doorways, and then she could probably sniff her master out. Are those doors open or closed at the moment?

Aah, sadly I dont think i can. Checking back it looks like I used Borrow Fortune as an immediate action last turn so that consumes my swift for this turn so I cannot cast a quickened spell.

Artemis roars and lays into the enemies in front of her.

@Nalshene: You are actually bleeding out. Just as a point of clarification, I believe I have exacted my blood toll from you, I'm really not trying to kill you. Again.
Orange is down for the count, but because of shenanigans, I cannot take it off the board yet. Assigning all attacks to green.
The last remaining robot defending Ophelia takes the blows as they are inflicted upon it. Limping with most of its struts broken and barely standing, it remains defiant in the face of the pathfinders.
"I'll save Choek! I'll save us all!" yells the high priestess, as even in the biting cold, scalding winds begin to make themselves manifest searing away exposed flesh.
This is what will happen unless Marduk can interrupt her.
The firey blast manages to envelop all of you save Nalshene, yet leave all of her allies unharmed!
May I get a DC 26 Reflex save for half from all you wonderful people? Except, again, for Nalshene.
Fire Damage (Full): 19d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 2, 3, 2, 4, 2, 6, 1, 4, 1, 5, 4, 3, 1, 2, 2, 4) = 56
Yeesh, low roll.
Spell Resistance (Zelekut): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Spell Resistance (Sweet Maud): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34
Spell Resistance (Anyone else?): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34
Also: Marduk, next time you go for an interrupt spell, could you put the resolved action in a spoiler? (i.e: with all necessary rolls made, etc...)

Artemis, Animal Companion |

Artemis leaps and twists out of the way.
Reflex, improved evasion: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (14) + 25 = 39
taking no damage.

![]() |

Urko also tries to twist away, his reactions still slowed by drawing on his futurre self.
Reflex, evasion, take the lowest: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (8) + 28 = 36
Reflex, evasion, take the lowest: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (1) + 28 = 29
and they slow him just enough that the spell catches him, although his significant fire resistance absorbs much of the damage.
Resist 30 so 26 damage and yes I remember part 1 very well

![]() |

Sorry. I didn't preroll stuff because the interrupting spell would vary depending on the target triggering the ready. In the interest of keeping things simple we'll assume it's burning arc.
Burning Arc vs triggering enemy (reflex 18 for half): 10d6 + 26 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 1, 3, 3, 5, 6, 4, 6) + 26 = 63
I'm not sure which one triggered the ready. If there are other enemies within 15 feet, they'll get tagged with the secondary effects.
Burning Arc vs 2nd Target (reflex 18): 5d6 + 16 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 1, 3) + 16 = 25
Burning Arc vs 3rd Target (reflex 16): 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 6) + 10 = 18

stupid delayed posts...

Spellcraft DC 23: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (6) + 29 = 35 "She's casting Firestorm!"
Reflex: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31 Agata has evasion, so takes 0 dmg

Sweet Mawd |

Reflex, improved evasion: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 Failed, which is half dmg due to improved evasion. 28 Fire damage to Sweet Mawd. She still has Fire Resistance 30 from earlier, so takes 0 dmg.

![]() |

Agata defensively casts Disable Construct and reaches out to touch the Blue robot.
Concentration check DC 21: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44
touch attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
DC 22 Will save or it becomes helpless for 15 rounds, with a new save at the end of each of its turns; if it is normally immune to magic it gets a +4 on its save.
Then she steps 5' away from the robot and casts Quickened Dispel Magic at Ophelia. Caster Level check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (2) + 25 = 27 Woo, not a one. Halves damage to 28, and I have resist fire 30 up.
"What'll you do if Choek ever decides Unity's not that great after all?" Miranda challenges, continuing to move towards Ophelia. "Choek seemed indifferent on Unity earlier-- really only doing it for your sake. So what, if he doesn't go along with it, are you going to throw a firestorm on him too? Funny notion, destroying things and people to save them..."
Again a single move, again a diplomacy attempt
Diplomacy, heroism: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 11 + 2 = 33 ...woo! Doesn't mean it succeeds of course, but still, woo.

![]() |

I suppose I should just roll my reflex save now and we'll figure out of the spell finished later.

Marduk casts his spell to interrupt Ophelia... And as it comes into contact with her, it dissipates harmlessly.
Meanwhile, Agata touches her immediate opponent.
Will Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
And without so much as a bzzt, the robot threatening the witch powers down, allowing for her to attempt to dispel some of the magic warding the high priestess.
What did you dispel? 1-20 SoF, 21-40 PfE(E), 41-60 GMW, 61-80 MV, 81-100 GSI: 1d100 ⇒ 49
One of the gargoyle's magical auras breaks apart into tiny motes of mana, and blow away.
Sweet Maud pauses, mid-flight to consider what she is seeing. A rare sight, all told. Even beyond the unique environment that is the heart of Silver Mount; it isn't every day one gets to see a cleric lose its god's favor.
"That's... No I wouldn't... Are you..."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
"You aren't... I would... Unity would never... I..." blathers Ophelia, her agitation rising with every single passing instant, before finally reaching an apex; a soul-scaring howl of desperation and mourning. As she begins to fall to her knees, she is wracked by sobs.
Now, I am not fully bound by the AP's tactics and layout, but for what I have in mind next, I will need your permission. Much like Hard Mode, if even one of you is not OK with it, I'll default to something more manageable, and the fight should wrap up shortly.
I think that the hard mode I want to offer will be a tough fight. As in, tougher than the dragon, but it'll be alone. However, I think you'll have some pretty serious bragging rights. And perhaps, you'll be able to double down on Marduk's claim.
Irrespective of that though...
Miranda: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Urko: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 21 + 2 = 34
Marduk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Agata: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27
Sweet Maud: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 = 20
It seems like Hugo doesn't really care much for Ophelia and has more pressing things on his mind, so I have not rolled for him. If I am mistaken, please feel free to roll a Sense Motive.
Miranda feels as though she has struck true. Ophelia, as devoted as she is to Unity, as desperate she is to "save" you all through her Master's will, deeply cares for Choek. Perhaps her only redeeming quality. In this mountain of metal and madness, a rare thing indeed. Rarer still, it appears that Ophelia has lost all will to fight you.
However, for Urko, Marduk, Sweet Maud and Agata, a more troubling picture superimposes itself. While they arrive to the same conclusion, they can see the tell-tale signs. Eyes discreetly spasming, growing unfocused. The slight change in posture. Ophelia's will is now truly no longer her own.
Red Flyby attack vs Miranda: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
One of the few remaining robots attempts to strike the Rose of Taldor, but misses so completely, it's possible the damage inflicted upon it is a lot more serious than it seems.
Green Full Attack vs Artemis (Power Attack): 1d20 + 22 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 22 - 5 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 10 = 24
Green Full Attack vs Artemis (Power Attack): 1d20 + 17 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 17 - 5 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 10 = 21
Green Full Attack vs Artemis (Power Attack): 1d20 + 12 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 5 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 10 = 18
Green Full Attack vs Artemis (Power Attack): 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 5 = 13
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 10 = 24
None get through the cat's tough hide.
I need everyone's answer on unofficial, possibly lethal hard mode. Be honest! I'll enjoy myself either way.
EDIT: Also, for crunch purposes, Ophelia is now indifferent to you all. Nicely done Miranda!

Potentially lethal hard mode is fine for me. We are at a level where we can recover from pretty much anything.

![]() |

I'm up for unofficial hard mode!

![]() |

Out of character, I'm a bit confused by what we're seeing. Am I correct in thinking that Diplomacy was successful on Ophelia, but that Unity has now taken full control over her? Mostly, I'm trying to discern if (in character) I should still consider her a target/foe.

Sweet Mawd |

Sweet Mawd flies through the door to find Nalshene and taps her with her staff of healing.
Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) + 8 = 19
I think this is legit and not metagaming? She saw Nalshene be badly wounded and go through the wall. She might need to spend another action to open the door though? If you think this is too metagamey, she'll do the same except fly over to Agata to heal her instead.
p.s. will hold off on actually moving Sweet Mawd's icon until the GM says which seems more reasonable.

![]() |

Diplomacy was indeed successful, but something is happening to Ophelia that gives you the impression that the next action (or actions) she takes might not be of her own volition. I guess I would ask myself how Agata deals with people whose will is being subsumed by anothers'?
With regards to Nalshene being down, I don't have a problem with trying to go the same way, as you likely would have gone the same way if you knew that there were two or three sets of doors between her and you. However, I am curious about your action economy here. You need to move up and open the door. That's effectively everything, unless you can move as a swift.

Sweet Mawd |

Yep, that's correct (about the doors). I think I wasn't sure if the doors were already open, or if they open on their own. So, (with your permission) I'll retcon to:
Sweet Mawd moves to the door and opens it, in hopes of finding Nalshene and healing her.

![]() |

Hugo is fine with hard mode. Hugo was working to find and heal Nalshene but was not exactly sure where she went.
Sense Motive, heroism: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 14 + 2 = 27
By Abadar, Keeper of the First Vault! I truly was not expecting such a response from Ophelia. Unity is a cruel overlord, if it is real at all.
Hugo call the Zelehut to him and as he moves to the doorway, if it is open (or have the zelekhut open it), and channel in the hallway, to catch himself, those nearby and Nalshene.
channel: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 3, 5, 4, 4) = 29
