Technic Siege/Full Map

The vermin haven't made it upstairs, but you're about to be interrupted by plot. There is an exploration bit that ends at a set point. Trouble is, that requires me to have 4 separate amp tiles that I arrange at random as you go. Not happening on PBP, sorry. So we cut to the chase!

Stuff:

1=Johann
2=Tyraneus
3=Dimitra
4=Gunther
5=Walter
6=Basalte

Randomness: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Tyraneus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Walter: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Basalte: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Dimitra: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Gunther: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

As the group begins to search for a way out, Basalte and Gunther see a pale blue translucent shape appears behind Tyraneus! It is a shaggy looking beast with a horned head and hooves, but seems a bit...insubstantial.

DC 16 Religion to ID:
It is a ghost minotaur, an incorporeal undead. One question plus 1 more for every 5 you beat the DC.

Initiatives:
Ghostly dude: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Gunther: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Walter: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Tyraneus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Dimitra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Johann: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Basalte: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Surprise Round:
Gunther
Basalte
bad guy

One move or standard action each from our keen-eyed folks.

Oops, forgot to roll one percept!

Special attacks and defenses (other than incorporeality)

Also, how will holy water used by Johann work against the incorporeal undead? It says you have to be adjacent, but does it still count as a splash weapon, and does he still get +int on damage?

I moved on the map with the assumption that the ghost is the blue square.

Basalte, glancing behind the group, realizes they are under attack. "Grmmmbl, to arms! Behind us!" he roars as he moves into melee, his adamantine falchion drawn.

Good idea, shield works on incorporeals. Is the 4 minute duration of the other extracts expired?

Yes, it looks like they expired. The skill checks (Linguistics, etc.) in the study had a 10 minute box text requirement. I may have some info for your report I forgot to feed you. Will look up incorporeal rules. Sorry for the bland tokens, but the blue square is the bad guy.

Using two-weapon fighting (don't have the feat so taking penalties of -4 and -8 on the attacks) to throw the two holy water flasks Johann's been holding. Since there's no map, I'll assume the party has been staying together and Johann is within 20 ft of the ghost.

Aiming at the square in which the ghost is located, AC 5, including TWF penalties, PBS, and inspiration: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 241d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 - 8 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 1 - 8 = 1

So the first one is on target and hits the square, doing splash damage to the ghost. The second one misses the square, but as I'm less than 1 range increment away, will land in an adjacent square (possibly splashing holy water on a member of the party as well, but it doesn't matter to them) and still do splash damage to the ghost. 14 damage total from the holy water.

Johann contorts his wrist oddly and a wand springs out from his wrist sheath into his hand. Swift action to get wand of shield from his spring-loaded wrist sheath.

Ok, I wrote a post with additional speech but I guess I forgot to press post.

Johann shrieks in surprise as the ghost appears. "G-g-g-ghost! Watch out, armor has no protection against it, only magically conjured shields and magic weapons!" He hurls the two flasks of holy water, one landing just below the ghost's feet, the other landing a short distance away.

OK, so normally you must be adjacent to an incorporeal to douse them. Ranged touch, does not provoke. That is you want a direct hit. As for splash, the relevant Alchemist class feature doesn't say the INT bonus is precision damage, and says it's always added to the splash. I'm not going back, but I'm betting a mutagen is getting you +6 INT instead of your base of +5. So your info is correct.

Basalte and Johann hit the creature, but it does not return to death yet!

Walter--swiftly--activates his judgment.

judgment:
Smiting: This judgment bathes the inquisitor’s weapons in a divine light. The inquisitor’s weapons count as magic for the purposes of bypassing damage reduction. At 6th level, the inquisitor’s weapons also count as one alignment type (chaotic, evil, good, or lawful) for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction. The type selected must match one of the inquisitor’s alignments. If the inquisitor is neutral, she does not receive this bonus. At 10th level, the inquisitor’s weapons also count as adamantine for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction (but not for reducing hardness

Technic Siege/Full Map

Sorry Dimitra, only reason I thought it might be Basalte is since he's DMed this before. And thanks again! Yes, he has reach 10' so casting would provoke. Also non-force spells only do half damage against incorporeal to begin with, so a successful save drops that to 1/4. And Walter, I read that judgment as bypassing DR/magic, but not actually conferring an enhancement bonus. Sort off how later you can bypass DR/adamantine, but not hardness because your weapon isn't actually transformed into the material.

"First of all let me introduce Venture Captain Valais Durant" Dimitra starts, curious how Jorsal will react.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26

If he reacts normally she continues
"with her help we explored the lodge. We moved through a weird maze where it felt like we were stalked. We found stairs below a trapped statue that depicted Torag in combat with a bull. It also had the pentagram of the demon lord Baphomet on it. Needles to say we disabled the trap and explored further."

Dimitra takes a breath "Downstairs we found some strange vats, containing a murky fluid. We noticed a clawed hand, and also saw a short stretch of pale, mismatched flesh with visible stitching. We then entered a room that can only be described as a madman’s abattoir. Further on we found an underwater passage that likely connects to the river Sellen, although we did not examine the passageway.

A further room contained a lot of incriminating books, that we will leave in your care. We found proof that Thurl has experimented for years in the creation of Abyssal hybrid — dissecting demon corpses, sewing pieces back together, soldering and animating them with essence derived from Abyssal larvae, and often discarding imperfect creations.

After that we found evidence that Thurl was in contact with a night hag, who communicated with him over distance through magical means. The night hag mentioned a powerful ally that would contact Thurl. In the final room we explored a demonic visage was made on the wall. Johann here identified as a Glazebru.

When we entered the room the visage started speaking, it said it would join Thurl shortly now it knew where he was. Needless to say we ran. Unfortunately the maze had shifted in some way and we confronted a ghostly minotaur there. We defeated it, closed the doors to the cellar carefully and ran back here to report back.
