Brew, what do we have to do if one of us wanted to DM/GM a game for the group to give you a break?

Th GM thing is actually fairly straight forward. The scenarios are pretty short. Once you have the maps saved, all you need to do is open up a board and send out a link. Google docs/draw/drive works great for hosting all your needed assets.

I appreciate the thought as well though I am perfectly happy running games for you guys. I actually enjoy it quite a bit. Also, don't forget I get a chronicle to apply to one of my own characters the first time a run a scenario, so I have been leveling up a couple of characters right along with you guys. That being said, if anyone wants to try their hand behind the screen, go for it!

Yeah, have fun. Give us a report of how it went. Will you be playing any PFS while you are there?

I have started the alt gamethread:

Just making sure you're logged into the right account...

all is good now. I tried posting last night and there was no chat window for me to do so. It was up today. Not sure what caused the issue.

Ok, I am back. I am catching up.

Alrighty game fans, we got the team/family all moved in, in Iowa with only minimal drama, chaos, and stress.

The posts have been really great and I like the friction with the characters. Not sure if its me, but PnP allows for the drama better with the exception of the old NWN.

Brew mentioned a Tales of the Sword Coast or something coming out in December that looks like a upgraded NWN. Anyone got any 411 on it?

Sword Coast Legends

Soooo, where in Iowa?

And for all those parents out there... how in the balls do you do it?

I'm ready to give them back before an hour is out! And only my youngest, sweetheart of a neph is here this weekend... unless you count my dad, he tends to act like a toddler more often than not anymore.

Patience....and more patience...the occasional beer...prayer...meditation...and love.

Babysitters, grandparents, and family help also.

As for Iowa, Bettendorf.

I missed you by a day or two. I'm, supposed to be out that way in August and maybe again in September.

For both you and Kat, how far is Camp Dodge from either of you? I can do the mapquest to Bettendorf, but it's mapquest which is a rough guess. And Kat, I have no idea where in the state you live.

Huh, Quad city area then. About 3 hours away from where I am now. I live a bit past a half hour from Iowa State University in Ames, WSW about 30-40 miles as the crow flies. Looked up Camp Dodge, Johnston? Not to far from me all things considering.

Sure you can find things in Ankeny or Des Moines to try, but...

Irish Fare
Small English Styled Pub
Great Weird Burgers and Beer

Then there are the other things found in Campus Town like the street vendor gyro maker.

Not to mention my sis works in Ankeny so I can probably find out other tried suggestions.

Well sht, can't believe I forgot about Some of the Best BBQ and Ice Cream treats in the area Though with no reservations or call-ahead you'd have to get there during an off-time or risk a wait time of a couple hours.

REALLY can't believe I forgot this one...

Kat/Namegani,

We are totally impressed with the area and Iowa. Lots of things to do, with tons of nice people. Hell, even the Burger King here impressed the hell out of us with how nice they were. Makes me wonder what's in the water, or what's been in my water until now.

You shouldn't be too far from Amish country if I remember correctly (Amanas) so you should check it out some time.

I will be unable to make posts from my phone. Paizo mentioned that they will no longer support certain browsers of older android systems. I am fine with posting from home but I will be unable to do multiple posts on the other thread if it is needed.

I have tried several times now and get an unrecognized connection error. I can view posts, just not make any.

I have seen people use an android app called Wayfinder for pbp in the past. I am not sure it is still supported.

thanks. I will check it out

I've spent all my time on the Illinois side of the Rock Island area. I was stunned by how friendly the folks were. Hav, if you didn't get a good dose of the Amish while in PA then I'd suggest making a drive to the Amish where Kat mentioned. Whatever they do will be good craftsmanship, they take 20 on every roll :). I've been in a few Amish communities outside PA and while some of the differences between communities are noticeable, the very high quality of product has been universal.

BTW, I'm supposed to be in the quad cities area twice in the next 3 months. One for SRAAG orientation the other for the commander's conference. Dates are still up in the air. Heck, if my stuff is up tomorrow I'll give you a call on your work line.

Huh. Went to see if I could add my DEX mod to my damage score and found out I should be adding it to my attack score. Haven't been adding it at all! Or so it seems after reading this...

Quote:

Dexterity (Dex)

Dexterity measures agility, reflexes, and balance. This ability is the most important one for rogues, but it's also useful for characters who wear light or medium armor or no armor at all. This ability is vital for characters seeking to excel with ranged weapons, such as the bow or sling. A character with a Dexterity score of 0 is incapable of moving and is effectively immobile (but not unconscious).

You apply your character's Dexterity modifier to:

•Ranged attack rolls, including those for attacks made with bows, crossbows, throwing axes, and many ranged spell attacks like scorching ray or searing light.

•Armor Class (AC), provided that the character can react to the attack.

•Reflex saving throws, for avoiding fireballs and other attacks that you can escape by moving quickly.

•Acrobatics, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Fly, Ride, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth checks.

Does that seem to be the right conclusion?

Or is it already included in Base Attack Bonus?

Quote:

Attack Bonus

Your attack bonus with a melee weapon is the following:

Base attack bonus + Strength modifier + size modifier

With a ranged weapon, your attack bonus is the following:

Base attack bonus + Dexterity modifier + size modifier + range penalty

Kat

I think your total Attack bonus was correct before.
Your base attack bonus is determined by your class and level
Your Strength bonus gets added for melee or thrown weapons
All other ranged weapons use your dex modifier
Add in any weapon bonuses or size modifiers and you get your total AB

I think based on your dex(+4) and base attack bonus(+2) you should have a +6

COPMC has it right. There are also certain instances where you can add DEX to damage instead of STR. Unchained rogue gets to pick one weapon at first level to add dex to damage. I believe the feats dervish dancer(?) and fencing grace allow dex to be sued in place of STR for damage on certain weapons. The agile weapon property also allows DEX to damage. I am unaware of any feats/weapon propertied that allow DEX to damage for ranged attacks.

Brew pointed out something on the Magus spell combat feat. The Feat allows the magus to make melee attacks and get off a spell that is a standard action with a -2 attack.

What does not seem clear is if the spell is a ranged touch attack like acid splash, or say fireball, does that ranged touch attack also incur a -2? Rereading the rules, all ranged spell attacks also incur the -2 penalty. The use of passive voice writing through me off initially.

For a magus to both attack and cast spell in same he (or she) must use the spell combat special ability that is exclusive to the magus class. In order to do so, the magus must take the full attack option as a full round action. Doing so, all attacks are at -2 including the ranged or melee touch attack to land the spell. Note, this only applies to the spell if it is an attack. A spell like fireball does not need an attack roll. The magus may take a 5 foot step during this action. Also please note that a ranged touch attack is considered a ranged attack and would provoke an AOO.

Full Round Action:

Full Attack
If you get more than one attack per round because your base attack bonus is high enough (see Base Attack Bonus in Classes), because you fight with two weapons or a double weapon, or for some special reason, you must use a full-round action to get your additional attacks. You do not need to specify the targets of your attacks ahead of time. You can see how the earlier attacks turn out before assigning the later ones.

The only movement you can take during a full attack is a 5-foot step. You may take the step before, after, or between your attacks.

If you get multiple attacks because your base attack bonus is high enough, you must make the attacks in order from highest bonus to lowest. If you are using two weapons, you can strike with either weapon first. If you are using a double weapon, you can strike with either part of the weapon first.

Deciding between an Attack or a Full Attack: After your first attack, you can decide to take a move action instead of making your remaining attacks, depending on how the first attack turns out and assuming you have not already taken a move action this round. If you've already taken a 5-foot step, you can't use your move action to move any distance, but you could still use a different kind of move action.

Perhaps the humor is only found in my over-tired mind but:

Brew, RE: using cleave. I mentioned being at -2 AC. My AC will reduce by 2 to 19.

When using cleave, specs below see the last sentence, what constitutes "When you use this feat"? Do I take a -2 upon declaring an intent to use cleave if I hit. Or do only take the -2 on when I successfully hit the first foe and can then cleave the second?

You can strike two adjacent foes with a single swing.

Prerequisites: Str 13, Power Attack, base attack bonus +1.

Benefit: As a standard action, you can make a single attack at your full base attack bonus against a foe within reach. If you hit, you deal damage normally and can make an additional attack (using your full base attack bonus) against a foe that is adjacent to the first and also within reach. You can only make one additional attack per round with this feat. When you use this feat, you take a –2 penalty to your Armor Class until your next turn.

The Exchange

Female Elf Rogue (Unchained) / 3

Just clarifying - crit threat is on the roll and not the end result, correct?

I believe once you activate the feat, that being on a successful melee attack, you incur the -2 AC penalty regardless of wether or not the attack is successful.

Kat, not sure I understand your question. A crit is threatened whenever you roll an attack and the raw number on the die, regardless of an bonus, falls within the weapon's crit range.

That's what I thought but things have been... strange lately so I figured I would just make sure.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Fighter / 4, AC 23, HP 45/41, FORT +6, REF +1, WILL +0

The initial crit hit is an unmodified roll. The confirmation is a 'to hit' roll with all modifiers applied. I need a natural 20 to get a crit. Against an AC of 15 I need to roll a 7, (roll of 7 plus my +8 modifier) to confirm.

There has not been much activity on the other campaign and I was just curious if things are put on hold for now until Brew returns from traveling?

Yeah, sorry about that. I will fire that back up soon. It has been tricky finding time to post here so I been doing my best to maintain the main board and have been light on the alt game. I am back tomorrow so I am not out in the woods for much longer.

Kat,
that stinks. Is it the pump? Iowa has had a ton of ran this year.

Fortunately no. Both belts on the motor broke... right before all stores that could replace them closed. So no water until later.

Well, bugger. Got the belts replaced and the water's running... it's just also spilling out of the pump while it runs. Got a guy coming out tomorrow morning and hoping it's an easy fix, but off to get extra gallons of water just in case.

When it rains...

looks like on top of the well issues, my (possibly preggers again) mama cat got into a tangle with some hornets and got stung at least twice in her throat. No wonder she's been so grouchy.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer/1 Arcane-Sage Bloodline

Ouch for the kitty.

How old is the pump? I am sure you are all over it, but does it require routine servicing?

Hey folks, back from my trip and ready to wrap up this scenario soon. Wanted to let you know there is a new guide to PFS called released today. The guide is now called the Pathfinder Society Guild Guide. I have yet to look it over, but wanted to let you guys know it was out.

In the guide, you will find faction cards. Please let me know if you want to use them. If you do, go ahead and pdf print one out. If you think you have satisfied a condition, go ahead and mark it off and then send me a copy which I will e sign and return.

We are about wrapped up here. I am sure we can finish the current scenario tomorrow. I will get sheets out asap and will let you know about the next adventure.

Other than old? No idea. And no, it's one of those details that doesn't get thought about until it's broken. Think the last time it got "serviced" was about a decade or so ago when the belts broke last.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer/1 Arcane-Sage Bloodline

Sounds like the seals and gaskets might need to be replaced. Might want to also look if it runs on some internal oil like a car engine.

My parents own a small cabin that has its own well and I know they had to do that about every 5 years or so.
