"Terrific! You again!"
Oh boy. Maybe I should find a god to pray to, as one of them seems to have it out for me.
"Milton, good to see you again. It feels like we just parted company not too long ago."
Fendel, CSI: Absalom
|
"Oh come now, I needn't remind you that our combined efforts to assist the Hellknights certainly brought you some prestige and happiness. I thought we parted on more amenable terms."
Milton Smithson
|
"Certainly we did, and Cheliax is much stronger for our efforts. For that I am appreciative of your assistance. It is just that, well, your cheery demeanor rubs me the wrong way."
Fendel, CSI: Absalom
|
Stifling the irony of the tieflings words, the detective offers, "My apologies if my demeanor is ...off-putting. Perhaps I should learn the practice of proper Asmodean introspection and reflection. I am certain it guides your every interaction."
Milton Smithson
|
"I would be glad to teach you, of course it requires that you take up following the Prince of Darkness. Here is a pamphlet, sign it on the last page of the trifold if you agree."

So if we did decide on 8-9 and 8-11, what are the levels?
We did. And I just purchased it (finally!) Qstor is unable to play this one, but I will run another game if he or anyone else would like (please let me know).
The Pathfinder lodge maintained by Venture-Captain Esmayl ibn Qaradi in the Qadiran capital of Katheer is a high-ceilinged estate with elegant arches and colorful tile mosaics. A young man brings cool tea to drink and water for washing away dust before sending word of guests to the venture-captain.
Tiers 5-9. Please list your choice of character (again first choice). If you have only one choice, please dot in to the gameplay thread.
EDIT: Exchange Faction specifically mentioned but keleshites, & firey characters, or planes-hoppers might enjoy this flavor. I say 'might' because I have onloy read the introduction :)
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
I sent to PMs to the folks who probably gave up waiting on me. We will begin as soon as everyone has hit the gameplay thread.
I have done a couple of multi-parters on PbP and I like the build up of character interaction PbP allows. (see Milton/Fendel above. :) I hope you are looking forward to this as much as I am.

I'll have to bow out on this one. I just played 8-9 in December and the sequel in January.

Regrettably, the character I would like to play this scenario with is not high enough level. I'll have to sit this one out.

So far we have wizard, investigator, paladin. I think either will work Milton.
Silas Proth
|
8 + 8 + 5 + 7 = 28
So our APL is exactly 7. As I understand it, since the highs outnumber the lows, we would play at the high subtier. But I could be wrong.
| RyckyRych |
Ah, here we go:
Starting with Season 4, scenarios were designed for six characters and contained methods to adjust for tables with four players. When the APL of a table is between two subtiers (like APL 3 for a Tier 1– 5 scenario), a party of four characters must play the lower tier without any adjustments for party size.

I just saw that too. Ok, so I was wrong. Good for the wizard; bad for me. I imagine this would be a cakewalk for Silas, so before we go any further I might switch characters. Is a gunslinger cool with everyone?

Here's my gunslinger. And she will not level after this.

Fendel takes the time to ensure his Goggles of Minute Seeing are in place before reviewing the proffered document.
Know, Religion (Take 10): 10 + 20 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + 20 + (5) = 35
Reading over the pamphlet that the 'paladin' handed him, the investigator's eyes get a little larger and rise to once again look at the tiefling. With genuine concern, he asks, "Um..Milt, you didn't actually sign something like this did you? Did you take the time to read the entire thing, even the very fine print? This "Exchange of Power" clause is very one sided to say the least. While it implies offer some short term benefits to mortal signatories , the et infinum means forever, as in FOREVER Milton."
The detective hands the eternal soul-damning contract back to Milton. He leans in and gives an earnest and heartfelt hug. "This explains so much about your behavior, why you need to feel so important right now. You know the bargain you have struck and what you have consigned your soul to. I am so sorry Milton for all the incredible torment you will face after your time here. You will have neither rest, nor reprieve when you join Him."
Taking a step back, with a tear in his eye, "I understand you now Milton. I will help you to the best of my ability."

I will have the rest of the intro up tomorrow along with all the knowledge checks. When I started the local PFS lodge I chose Monday because that is when my shop is closed. I missed a couple weeks because of the holidays. I still GM a fair bit, & with the start of a new semester there has been a lot of goblin games.
Today however I got to play. And with my own character. For the second time in six weeks. Which is a long way of saying no GM post tonight. :)

Congratulations! Glad you were able to get some time on the other side of the screen.

Hey GM, it is unlikely to be overly important in this scenario, but after the last scenario Milton spent 2PP to become an Armiger in the Hellknight Order of the Scourge, per the PFS Field Guide. He didn't take either of the Prestige Classes, but he did join.
He'll likely pay another 2PP in the near future to become a Signifer!

If anyone has a friend who would like to join us, now would be a good time . Exchange faction would be preferred. Unless everyone wants to keep it at four players. Ask them to pm me :)

I may know of someone. I am at work right now, so it will be several hours before I can get in contact with him.

Well, as there is no moon in orbit around the City of Brass, you should be pretty safe from any lunatic urges, inklings or temptations for freedom, liberty and free will! Who knows, maybe we will pick up a devotee of some other, more forgiving, deity. Perhaps they can get help you out of your soul-binding obligation. You still have time Milt!!

Ha ha. No way! Why should I deny them your pleasure. I want them to have that fun for themselves.
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
I think some of the best parts of the story are in the faction mission, but I will reveal them OOC when we are done. I did invite two others to join us though. In my experience PbP always has a dropout so I like to start with a little bigger table than normal, especially with the two scenarios together.

Well met all. It is a pleasure to meet everyone, as I have read much about this group and, much like Awen, think I will fit in well.
Sai reaches out her hand to Milton, not to shake but rather to accept one of the often dispensed pamphlets he carries.
