Nevermind about the PM question, it should be fixed. Would all of you like your chronicles ent to you by PM?

GM Derek W |

The GM running the event should have reported that via computer. I'm not sure what to do now. I'll e-mail my VC and get back to you ASAP.

So, I think a hearty round of thanks are due Derek for putting in all the effort to GM this adventure. Thanks, Derek!
I'm not sure the best way to do the reporting... I had thought maybe scanned images of the actual sheets, but I really don't know what is required.
So, for the record, here is my Day Job roll:
Profession (Sailing): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
So, 20 gp, from the table on page 22 of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play (v. 4.3).
Kinda trivial, but what the heck.

GM Derek W |

I'm going to scan your Chronicles today. How would you like them delivered?
I can: attach them to an e-mail (or PM if that's possible), mail you a copy, post them to dropbox. Thoughts?

![]() |

PM is fine for me. If the system doesn't support attachements, just email a scan to whtwulf at gmail dot com, please. Thank you.

Hey, for curiosity, what are people buying with their 419 gold? I tempting to spend it - the gold is burning a hole in my pocket, lol - but I should probably wait and buy a Wand of Cure Light Wounds, but I might splurge for a masterwork backpack.
Since I am not a melee person, I suppose a darkwood buckler and masterwork weapons or armor aren't justified.

GM Derek W |

Just remember you can spend your 2 Prestige Points to purchase a single item worth up to 750 GP - that would cover your heal stick, if you are so inclined.

![]() |

Hey all, I'm home now! Busy busy weekend.
@Derek, please either message my Chronicle to me or email it to:
I'll probably be saving my gold for now. Definitely spend your 2PP on a wand of CLW though, it means you can use your spells on much funner things, and other people don't have to spend THEIR consumables on YOU in return. Even if you're a warrior type with no spells, there's almost always someone in the party you can lend the wand to so they can use it for (on) you.
So am I running the next game? Did people want to play First Steps Part I, or some other 1st level module?

![]() |

Well, I would love to play, so if you'd be willing to GM, that would be awesome!
I have played the following, so I couldn't earn another character chronicle for them:
The Bloodcove Disguise
Rescue at Azlant Ridge
The Frostfur Captives
The Veterans Vault
The Quest for Perfection I
I also have my rogue in a slow-moving PBP of Tide of Twilight.
Assuming I can make it, I will get to do The Blackros Matrimony on Monday. I am really excited for that one.
I'll offer to run the third game, assuming we make it that far ;)
Norine (Matt) also may run a game - please forgive me if I put words in your mouth!

![]() |

The Blakros Matrimony is AWESOME. I recently played it with a Paladin of Shelyn. Highlights included a massive crisis of faith; trying to figure out how to balance my Paladin code with the demands of my faction mission, my religious faith, and the happenings of the scenario; and TONNES of awesome awesome roleplaying.
In slightly related news, I just found this thread which SEEMS to imply we might have a little bit of leeway with reporting for PbP games that are being retired (as well as the retiring factions)... First Steps 3 isn't the greatest adventure in my opinion, but it's still on the cards in some senses.

![]() |

Welcome back, Alice!
I was hoping to run some more of the First Steps with Norine, if you are willing to run them.
I've noticed that, when looking through scenarios here on Paizo, retired scenarios say so, but how does one figure out what is going to be retired? I probably just don't spend enough time looking through official threads...
I will be able to run the Frostfur Captives at some point, perhaps after some characters have graduated to second level. (I've prepped the maps and a campaign thread.)
Oh, and I'll definitely be buying that wand. ;-)
~~ Matt

![]() |

The Frostfur Captives is such a fun adventure; I'd love to play through it, though I would probably switch to a new character (Dracothis is totally unsuited to it). I can go through First Steps part I, though I will readily admit that I've played it twice and run it twice, already, so if someone else wants the slot, I'll step aside in preference to them.

GM Derek W |

OK, I PM'd Joseph Caubo, the Online VC. He says as long as we start any retiring scenario before August 14, we have until Sept. 30 to finish it. We just need to register it with him 1st.

GM Derek W |

So I got a character in one of Alice's other games. My second PBP is wrapping up today. I am personnaly ready to move on from First Steps as a GM (I have played Part I once, with one more to come, GM'ed part II, will have two play-throughs of it, anbd GM'ed Part III twice).
In the interest of keeping some momentum, I'd be willing to run a Season 2 scenario, The Dalsine Affair or Season 3, the Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment.
I need to keep things fresh for myself too, you know! If anyone has played either of these before, with any character, I need to know. You can only receive multiple chronicles on First Steps. I will give you guys a few hours to vote, and hope to start gameplay by tomorrow morning if that sounds good.
And Alice, I'd still love for you to GM for this group here, but I know you've got a pretty full slate right now. If we keep posting at a moderate level, I am sure I can manage two campaigns.

![]() |

Alice, can you tell me how to make a campaign thread show as inactive? I have a few games I'd like shrunk down so I'm not scrolling through like 10 games to see if there are updates

![]() |

Oh, I'm happy to run something for you guys, but it'll be a couple of days until I can do so. But if you're offering more scenarios, I ain't one to say no!
Mez, if you are the owner of the campaign you can edit the description and mark it as inactive. If not, it'll automatically do so after some time (couple of months?) with no posting. In the interim, you can hide the gameplay thread and it'll disappear from your campaigns page.

![]() |

Just let Norine know where to go and she'll go, though it seems that second level is a safer place to be in for Tier 1-2. At least I will have a Wand of Cure Light Wounds!
I have a third, 1st-level character (elven universalist wizard/scroll scholar archetype), but could try to make up another Cleric/Oracle, lol. It takes me forever to make up a character, though, and I'd hate to be in a party without a proper cleric. I was thinking of a deaf and blind dual-cursed oracle, just to see how hard it would be play, but it would probably make everyone else feel triple-cursed.
When I was looking for a scenario to start prepping, I did scan some reviews of the Temple one and it seemed the GMs loved it but the player reviews were mixed, so I moved on.

GM Derek W |

@Calanthe - I don't mind waiting a little! There seems to be interest from one of my other groups for continuing to a new game.
@Norine - It's true that first steps brings you along slowly, but if you avoid season 4 until you hit level 2, you should be fine. My ranger did FS I, then Season 2 #1 & 2. Both those were in a group of 4 players, and both times I went negative on HP, but lived! In most of my 6 player games I have barely been scratched, and no one has dropped unconscious. But bad rolls do happen (eventually the bad guys crit).
Basically, a good rule for Society play is that you don't always have to kill something to get the XP - you just have to complete your mission. Some fights can be avoided via Diplomacy, some you can run away from. And yes, you will need to stand and fight too a lot of the time.
That said if you guys want to do the First Steps games, that's not a problem. I just think I'd get get bored running them again.

![]() |

As someone who always has to GM, I am a huge fan of the GM also enjoying themselves and not being bored, so if you'd rather not run something, DONT. There are a ton of options to chose from, it seems to me like Derek/Alice should just decide who wants to run what, because the rest of us will come along for whatever ride they have planned!

GM Alice |

So, Derek and I discussed things over PM, and we've decided that I'm going to run the next game. Scenarios I've played or otherwise have downloaded:
- Murder on the Silken Caravan
- Mists of Mwangi
- The Frozen Fingers of Midnight
- The Devil We Know series
- The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch
- Perils of the Pirate Pact
As a heads up, these are all Year 0 or 1 scenarios, meaning that you can probably play up pretty safely, especially on a couple of them... although I'll leave that to you guys to decide.
If nobody has a preference, I'd go with Mists of Mwangi. It introduces the Blakros Museum (a very important place and family within the PFS metaplot) and it's just cool overall!

![]() |

I have no preference, but I remember that you really liked another of the Blakros family stories, so that could be a nice series.

GM Derek W |

I'm down w/ that! As a former museum professional, I need to get into the Blackros Museum mods.

![]() |

Mists it is. I'm passingly familiar with the scenario, though I've not played or run it, and it seems like a good fit for Dracothis.

![]() |

Part of Norine's backstory is that she might have been a many-times reincarnated servant of a Mwangi composite deity, "a variant form of Desna [her current deity], a janiform amalgam with Gozreh, whom they call Shimye-Magalla"("Desna", PathfinderWiki), but she also may be delusional and/or imaginative.

GM Derek W |

Hey, let me put this out to the group. I was going to play my cleric, but he got picked up in a game I just couldn't refuse (another Blackros Museum scenario). What would you guys like me to play? I can run a paladin (maybe my first choice). Would that work for everyone?

![]() |

Besides, you couldn't help but want to play with me, Derek ;)
Play whatever you want to play, really. Make a character you think you'll love and be able to stick with!

GM Alice |

I just went and made the discussion thread for the game, if you'd like to roll on over there when you're ready.

GM Derek W |

No way, Norine, that mod is too awesome to let lag! I'll be a little slower on weekends, but come tomorrow, we'll pick things up again pretty well. =)

![]() |

If you take paladin, I'll instruct you in the shiny new Wand of CLWs I'm going to buy, in case I go down. A first level group in an offline game almost lost a bunch of people because I got overzealous and was mauled by a riding dog. Fortunately there was a potion.
