Targost's force bolt strikes the creature, wounding it a little.
Mez slashes mightily, and opens up a deep wound in the creature's abdomen, but he remains on his feet.
Ebon, I want to see how far we can get, so I'll do the most badass things I can think of for you this turn.
Ebon rushes through the door, charges the kobold on Mez's left (the lower one), as there is no path to the mysterious creature that is their leader.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 2 = 21
damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10
Ebon neatly slashes the kobold down with his mighty sword.
Calanthe makes her gesture.
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 2 = 16
The creature shrugs, but is no worse off than before.
dracothis moves into positin for a trip attempt.
The lone kobold, seeing things turn for the worst, uses a full retreat and jumps down the well (presumably to an escape tunnel).
The strange creature puts his hands out in front of Mez's face and screams "Color Spray!"
Mez's Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Mez shakes off the effects of the spell. seeing this, the creature turns to run. As it does, Mez can see a small jade katana on a thin belt around the creature's waist.
Mez, make your AoO!

![]() |

AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Mez, surprised be the creatures spell, shrugs off its effects, but not before it has put enough space between him and it that the lunge is just out of reach.

Would it be too cheesy for me to throw you guys a bone via "plot device"? If you don't like this, let me know.
In his shaken state, the creature turns away from Mez awkwardly. Mez's sword catches his belt (a 10 means you strike his body somewhere), and snaps it. The katana falls to the floor as the creature follows the kobold down the well.
Combat is over!

![]() |

Aw, I was just saying I could be really stupid and jump down the well after it... :-P The 'bone' is fine with me, since we could also try to run after it or whatnot, and if the creature isn't as attached to it as we apparently are, it would make sense to it, I think, to drop it and run, buying escape time.
"How do we all fare?"
After peering down the well with her sunrod - carefully, and tied to a rope with Ebon holding her back - Norine will help search these last two rooms.
She then picks up her sack from the previous room and requests that we go back by the tunnel skeleton and the well skeleton to pick up the bones and the trade agreements. "When we get there, we can use our scroll of Comprehend Languages on the rubbings I've made and on the trade agreements."
"If my sense of direction gifted by Desna is with me, then I believe we can leave by this door here - ", pointing to the northwest door, " - and connect with where we have been before, or we can leave the way we came."

GM Derek W |

Do you guys want to do much more roleplaying, or are you looking for more of a walkthrough of the wrap-up here? Either way I'll work on getting your chronicles filled out so I can send you copies tomorrow.

![]() |

I'm good for either. I remember that you were a bit pressed; I'll just be waiting for Alice/Calanthe to start part III.

![]() |

No worries, glad to be DMPC'd if it keeps the flow going. also not worried too much bout what's left, however we need to get it done. Would love to play in the next one as well. XD

GM Derek W |

As the group proceeds through the dungeon, they use the scroll. Norine and Calanthe review the rubbings and scrolls with Dracothis. They see that the two statues has the words "air" and "water" carved in Kelish on them. The trade agreements all contain detail agreements between Taliq Asad and various other parties. None contain any details on the trading of slaves, but are mostly for food, supplies, and war material.
Gathering up the agreement and the jade katana, the group begins their hike back to Absalom.
Feel free to RP some more here if you like. I have a little more wrap-up material I can post for once you make it back to the city. I'll wait until later today.

Asking for Cayden’s guidance, Mez examines the Jade Katana that has been the focus of this endeavor. ”I wonder if this is valuable because of what it’s made out of, or just for sentimental purpose”
Perception: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16
Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

GM Derek W |

Mez isn't able to notice anything unusual about the relic, and it doesn't seem to be worth any great sumof money.
Good idea, though, Mez. *winks at others*

Norine had planned to be 'nosy' and take a look at it.
"Mez, let me take a look at it! Is it magical? Mystical? Mundane? I suppose it must be an antique, by now... Thank you kindly, Mez!"
Norine prays for Guidance, as if consulting as old friend.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
Norine stares at it long and hard - unusually attentively, for a gnome. "By Desna! ...", she says excitedly and trails off...
Appraise: 1d20 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) - 2 + 1 = 10
"Ooo, it is sparkly with the steel and jade... Does it match the color of my eyes or my hair?"
You briefly wonder at the inanity of the comment (before she regains her thought and ... ?).
PS - I forgot about the air and water clue in the excitement over the katana. And looking closely at our map, is that a statue near the second well, and perhaps one at the NE corner of the tunnel room? Four, perhaps, for the four elements? Well, we can at least pass it on to the next, maybe Kelish, Pathfinder. :-)

Targost will take a look to see if it has any mystical properties.
Detect Magic
Use Magic Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Knowledge-Arcane: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Ebon glances over at the Katana, without getting very close.
" It looks nice, but weak. It would break the first time you blocked a steel sword. Bah." And with a wave of his hand dismisses its importance.
XD

GM Derek W |

Norine notices a secret compartment in the jade katana. Inside the compartment is a tightly-rolled document, which both serves as a letter of credit and details a trade agreement between any holder of that agreement and a group called the Way of the Kirin. The terms are written in both Tien and Kelish, and promise the holder the full support of the Way of the Kirin, along with naval and war materiel worth
50,000 gp.
Calanthe, how does learning a spell form the scroll work? Is that legal for your character? I have no problem at all if it's within the rules - just assume you had the chance if it's ok, and I'll trust your experience.

![]() |

Norine relates what she found and read (presumably with her own Comprehend Languages prepared and still active), "It is not a perfectly simple decision, but I believe that the jade katana - and its contents - should go to Ms. Amara Li, our primary mission patron and, I believe, the rightful heir. I doubt, with this still inside, that the agreement was ever formally delivered. The other agreements not with the katana will have to satisfy Aaquir al'Hakam, the head of the Qadiran faction, if you agree."
Lucky there's a history to get the names right.

GM Derek W |

The party returs to Absalom, and seeks out Amara Li at the Lantern Lodge. When you present the katana to Amara Li, she is ecstatic. She showers you with praise if the agreement and says that she is always in your debt, and tells you that you are always welcome within her Lantern Lodge.
Major Maldris hears of your action in destroying the ghast through his contacts in the Society and visits you to congratulate them for their good deed. “I know it was difficult,” he says. “The undead sometimes cling to life, but they always turn to evil. This was a hard lesson that I felt you had to learn, to better serve the common good. As Pathfinders, we should always serve the common good and always fight for freedom.”
Trade Prince Aaquir Al'Hakam thanks your for returning so many trade agreements, and also expresses his pleasure with your efforts.
The End...

Great game GM Derek!! Thank you for letting me take part! Thanks to all the other players too, you were all great and I would enjoy playing with any of you again sometime!

GM Derek W |

Thanks to all of you! Your participation and enthusiasm made this a very memorable game for me! I don't even know how to "close" the game, but I was going to leave it open until we decide on the next one.

Targost, I got a Chronicle sheet for this game from Derek emailed to me. I suggest you PM him if you haven't received it.
