"That wouldn't be a bad idea," Ilya replies as she looks at her arms and clothes, which are covered in dried blood.
"Magic heals my wounds, but my clothes are a mess... And I could certainly use a bath myself."
Ilya walks over to the door at the end of the corridor, and opens it when her allies are with her.

The door opens up to a large room.
A padded chair stands on a low dais at the eastern end of this room. A large emblem made from hammered brass hangs on the wall behind the chair, depicting an automation’s head between interlocking gears.
The remaining walls are draped with blue colored tapestries, except in the northeast corner, where a curving wall of green crystal intrudes into the chamber—the Emerald Spire. On the northern wall is a control panel with one black lever. Two doors exit through opposite sides of a small nook to the southeast, and a third is set in the southwest corner. A pair of seven-foot tall automatons armed with polearms stand guard in the chamber. Eerie green light flickers in the joints of their armor.

The automaton manages to evade most of Zen'yrs blast, but when the fire settles down, Kellan stab one of the constructs with her rapier. Immediately, the thing starts malfunctioning, engulfing itself with an aura of sparks.

Ilya moves into the room and positions herself in a way that'll allow her to attack both automatons. She shifts into a stance that fits the dragon style, then raises her leg to send a kick at the automaton that's received the most damage from her allies.

Zen'yr reaches out and touches the constructs "mind", then casts bungle at it.
The hypnotic stare and its penalty can affect creatures that are mindless or immune to mindaffecting effects (such as an undead or vermin). The mesmerist can also partially affect such a creature with his mind-affecting spells and abilities if it’s under his hypnotic stare; it gains a +2 bonus on its saving throw (if any), and if affected it still has a 50% chance each round of ignoring the effect. Ignoring the effect doesn’t end the effect, but allows the creature to act normally for that round.
Bungle is a DC 17 will save or The target takes a –20 penalty on its next attack roll or check that requires a d20 roll. The action must be one deliberately taken by the target on its turn. Creatures with more than 10 HD are unaffected by this spell.

Kellan stares at the stupid destroyed automaton with rime covering Talon, seething at her lack of accuracy. She then swings Talon into the heart of the machine anyway, causing the metal to freeze solid, and she screams loudly with frustration.

"We pushed the other up, let's pull this one down," Ilya says as she pulls the black lever down.
Ilya heads over to the two doors in the small alcove and opens the door to the south.

The door opens to a bedchamber, furnished with a desk and plush chairs, a large bed strewn with pillows, a thick carpet, and hanging tapestries in scarlet and gold. A fire crackles in an iron stove in one corner.
Inside the desk is a journal written in a weak, spidery handwriting. It includes designs for new automatons powered by slivers of Emerald Spire crystal, records of explorations of various levels of the Spire (Klarkosh was turned back by the fiendish troglodytes on the next level), and megalomaniacal dreams of dominion over the River Kingdoms with armies of robotic warriors

Still seething from her lack of accuracy in the last battle, Kellan says through gritted teeth "Can someone open that stupid box please? I'm eager to finish with this level."

"Can anyone aid me?" Ilya asks as she tries to disable to chest's lock. She takes her time to work the lock, but can't open it alone.

If no one's able to aid her, Ilya resorts to violence.
"I'm sure someone can help with this?" she asks as she starts kicking the chest's lock.

It takes some mucking about with the chest, but it finally gives way (If you're willing to damage it, it will eventually break). It contains quite a bit of money - 200 gp, 130 pp, five emeralds, a star-shaped ioun stone, and a potion.

Seeing a door directly in front of her, Kellan waits for the others to be behind her then opens it.

Arming dummies and racks of basic weapons line the walls of this chamber. There is a double door in the northern wall, a single door in the southern wall, and two doors in the western wall. A single black lever protrudes from a control panel on the south wall.
A metal grate behind the lever separates the eastern part of the room from this side. In front of it, near the lever, another automaton is waiting.

"I'm getting pretty tired of these damn things."
Kellan sees the automaton, decides to take it out all on her own, using her sandals of quick action to do both a move and standard during the surprise round, and casts corrosive touch. She then moves up to it and tries to deliver the spell with Talon.

The corridor - Zen'yr is still standing in it - starts to shift, pushing the occultist around the corner, back into the workshop of Klarkosh.
