"If you do not want to explore then stay home Redke and just read in your childish chelish book!" Ketill snaps. He is still on edge from all the traps in his place.
Ketill retraces his steps to the hallway they were in before and checks the door for traps.
Perception take 20 = 25. I have marked the door on the map as I am not 100% sure it is a door.

DM Kludde |

That's a door, indeed
There's no traps on the door, which open to a cold chamber. This large stone chamber contains two clusters of four stone caskets each. In the center of the room, between the two groupings, stands an empty, unlit iron brazier that is covered with soot and smells faintly of past fires. Drapes of dust-covered spider webs cling to the ceiling.

![]() |

"Oh, what do you think?" Ketill asks Kellan
"Undead, spiders or both?"

![]() |

"All of the above, with our luck. Undead spiders who live in pits. Let's take them out."
Kellan moves into the room, using her darkvision to look around. Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13

DM Kludde |

When Kellan investigates the room and approaches a casket, a chill breeze arises from nowhere with an eerie howl. The room seems to darken, and in the sudden gloom, scores of small spectral eyeballs appear, drifting with the breeze. They peer intensely before fading away.

Redke walks up to Vayu, and says, "You're still not looking to good, do you need this?" and hands Vayu a wand Cure Light Wand
Then, feeling the breeze and hearing the howl, Redke stops and stares into the room before looking at Ketill. "Who did that! I know you're telling me that I need to 'start exploring' but I don't have a death wish."

There is little treasure here: the south westernmost casket contains an ornate horn.

![]() |

While searching the caskets, Ilya finds an ornate horn. She puts it to her lips and blows softly, trying to hear what it sounds like without drawing unwanted attention from elsewhere in the dungeon.

DM Kludde |

The horn makes a low bellowing sounds, like a fog horn. Sure enough, vapours emerges from the horn, forming a thick billowing mist cloud.

![]() |

"Wow, wasn't expecting that..."
Ilya puts the horn in her bag, then walks out of the room. "You coming? There seems to be nothing else here."
She returns to the room with the webs, and places her ear against the southern door.

Take 20 for 25 perception

DM Kludde |

Uhm, yeah. Vayu calls in divine aid, that's what I meant.
Ilya opens the door after a careful inspection by Ketill. With Vayu in tow, she sees an L-shaped corridor. Massive black iron gates bar the corridor, fashioned out of twisted, angular vertical bars that have sharp edges and are about a handspan apart, linked by welded crossbars. The gates have massive hinges set deep into the walls, and a heavy lock inside a welded box secures sliding bars that run into sockets in the floor and ceiling at the center of the corridor. Moreover, a black iron chain with links as thick as a human thumb wraps around the gates where they meet above and below the lockbox. The chain’s ends disappear into holes in the lockbox. Two exits grace the southern wall.

Kellan follows the group into the L-shaped corridor, watching for more traps.

DM Kludde |

![]() |

You really should change your character's name to Reduce after this. LOL

I'm just afraid there's a permanent reduce person spell on my way... wait a minute... reduce person adds +2 to dex & +1 to attack... that would help me... BRING IT!!! :D

![]() |

With the trap disabled, Ilya wants to move forward. However, she stops in her tracks after just a few steps.
Let's try the positive approach.
Ilya walks back to Redke, and pats him on his shoulder as she addresses him cheerfully: "Well done, Redke!"
She turns around again, and places her ear against the door south of the trap. If Ilya hears nothing, she'll slowly push the door open.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

DM Kludde |

Ilya listens at the door, then tries to open it, only to find it is locked.

![]() |

Redke walks up to right before the trap and lets out a huff. "Vayu, the lock pickin' bones were only used to show you not to play with things you don't know about in a dungeon."
Redke sits on the ground and starts playing with the rubble again, his masterwork thieves' tools plying his trade on the door.
Let's pick another lock :P: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

With the door (likely) opened, Ilya enters the new area.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
She takes a hasty look around when inside.

DM Kludde |

Redke finicks with the lock for a few second, until a click confirms the opening of the door, revealing another room. A few wisps of decayed webbing hang from the walls of this room, but there’s none on the stone ceiling and no sign of spiders in the room. The ceiling is blank save for four 1-foot- wide, round steel medallions, one set into each corner. The floor is equally bare except for a pedestal in the center of the floor made of a single five-foot-square block of stone, about two feet high. On the pedestal sits a metal-framed wooden chest, and to the side of the pedestal rests a shallow hole in the floor housing what looks like a brass door handle set into the stone. A stone tile lying loose nearby is clearly designed to fit over the hole, concealing the handle.

![]() |

"I don't trust this at all... There's bound to be some kind of trap, or magic..."
Ilya looks over to her magically gifted companions. "I want to go over, but you should check it first."

Vayu tries to detect for magical auras, but finds none.
