Kellan Demonbane
|
Kellan is looking extremely woozy (currently 0 HP), and knows that she can't take another hit from the creature. She blindly retreats (full withdraw action).
Ilya Akyll
|
Ilya stays where she is and throws a punch at the robot.
+1 Dragon Punch: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Damage (1.5x Str, Dragon Style): 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
+2 shield bonus to AC for starting and ending my turn in the same space.
Zen'yr
|
Zen'yr tries to establish a link with the robotic shark-thing, but fails to connect with its thoughts. She gains a mental bond, but it is weak.
Psychic Inception: The hypnotic stare and its penalty can affect creatures that are mindless or immune to mindaffecting effects (such as an undead or vermin). The mesmerist can also partially affect such a creature with his mind-affecting spells and abilities if it’s under his hypnotic stare; it gains a +2 bonus on its saving throw (if any), and if affected it still has a 50% chance each round of ignoring the effect. Ignoring the effect doesn’t end the effect, but allows the creature to act normally for that round.
K arcana, special defenses, attacks in that order: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
She than casts a spell, praying it sticks.
DC 17 Fort save or be blinded, you get a +2 to the save
| DM Kludde |
Fort: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 2 = 4
Ignore spell, high is good: 1d100 ⇒ 5
Kellan withdraws while Ilya punches the robot. It's tough, but the punch does seem to have some effect. Zen'yr works some strange magic, and manages to blind the robot.

Vayu does not know if it will help or not, but the salesman said adamantine would help against creatures you could not otherwise hurt.
He uses a scroll and casts abundant ammunition on his on adamantine round.
And proceeds to load.

Vayu loads up with specialist ammunition, while Redke attempts to overcome his blindness, still flailing wildly, screaming and shouting.

Vayu holds until people strike and step away ... hopefully everyone can 5' step after an attack this round. If they don't then subtract another -4 for "in melee".
In any case he fires before the creature goes.
Ranged Touch + Point Blank - Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 10 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 10 - 1 - 2 = 19

| DM Kludde |
Vayu hits the construct with two straight shots, that do massively more damage than anything before. The shark starts jittering, crackling with energy. The water around it is charged up - even from a distance, Ilya feels that venturing closer might be hurtful.

Kellan gets healed up a bit Thanks Zen'yr!
@Kludde: I forgot my save to try to be un-blinded from the glitterdust at the end of my last round, so that one first, and if Kellan still fails, she'll try the save again:

Kellan clears her eyes just in time to see Vayu blow a large hole in the side of the shark. It starts to list in the water, and a large compartment is flooded, increasing the sparking until the entire construct blows apart, shattering into many pieces of brightly coloured shrapnel.
Combat over!
Among the finds in this room are some scroll cases that contain half-finished letters to “Uzar-Kus of the Circle of Vissk-Thar”, to which the summoner (one of three sisters, it seems) was reporting.
And we're done with this level! I'll report and chronicle, so we can move on to the very interesting level 6...

"Well done, everyone! Now, let's go back and rest."
Yay, another floor explored! :)
| DM Kludde |
The long stairway ends in a small chamber. On the north wall, a panel with two bronze levers—one red and one black—is set chest-high in the wall. To the east, an archway leads to an alcove. Distant ticking echoes through the walls, as if several large clocks were operating simultaneously.
The walls of the alcove are mismatched. Most of the room is finished in masonry blocks, but to the north is a curved wall of bronze. There’s a narrow seam between the bronze wall and the masonry, and the bronze wall seems to be vibrating very faintly.
New map, let me know if this works for everyone. North is on the left side of the map

Bought a wand of MM for 750gp. Going to touch Ilya on the shoulder and implant a trick on her. Mesmerist Mirror (An illusory image appears around the subject to throw off attackers. The mesmerist can trigger this trick when the subject is attacked or becomes the target of a spell that requires an attack roll. One duplicate of the subject appears, and the attacker must determine randomly which it hits (as mirror image). For every 5 caster levels the mesmerist possesses, one additional image appears, to a maximum of five images at 20th level. This is an illusion (figment) effect.) The mirror image lasts 1 minute per mesmerist level or until destroyed. 2 images will appear
| DM Kludde |
[ooc]I've put the map as first slide. I've already posted the intro, so ready, steady, GO![/b]
Kellan Demonbane

Kellan looks at the mechanism with interest. "Does anyone know what these might do before we start blindly pulling levers?"
Ilya Akyll
|
Ilya shakes her head in response to Kellan's words. "I have no idea what those could be for. I've never had much interest for mechanical things."
| DM Kludde |
You can try K(eng) or Disable Device to check out the lever's function
Ilya Akyll
|
Hey, I actually have the latter. Totally forgot.
Ilya carefully approaches the levers and tries to figure out what they're for.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
"Uhm..."
| DM Kludde |
Ilya tries her expertise, seeing if she can figure out the workings of the mechanism, but she only notices that the mechanism behind both levers are actually fully operational.
Ilya Akyll
|
"The mechanism behind the levers is working, but that's all I'm able to discern."
Ilya sighs. "Any ideas? Else I'll just pull both levers."
Redke Orefall
|
"WAIT!" Redke shouts as he walks up. "I can take care of this!"
Kn Eng: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Disable Device!: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
Or not... darn 2 & 3....
| DM Kludde |
Redke inspects the levers, and sees that the mechanism goes deep into the belly of the underground building. It seems to set some larger parts in motion.
Both levers are in a neutral position, neither up or down, while they can move in both directions.
Red or black first? Up or down?
Redke Orefall
|
Redke steps back and uses his telekinetic finesse to move the red ladder to the up position. He then looks at it again to try to figure out what he did.
Kn Eng: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Disable Device!: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
| DM Kludde |
The lever moves to the up position with a satisfying >clunk<.
The smooth brass wall shifts, and opens up to some kind of bronze alcove. Beyond it is a large antechamber that ends in a double door.
Ilya Akyll
|
"I think you got that one right..."
Ilya heads up to the double door. "Shall we leave the levers for now, and check what's behind this door?"
UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
She takes out her wand of mage armor and gave herself a couple of taps. Once the wand activates Ilya stores it again.
Ilya will open the double doors if the others agree with her plan and are ready to proceed.
| DM Kludde |
The doors open to a rectangular room. A variety of artwork and keepsakes are displayed on the walls of this chamber: a tapestry depicting a royal court, an oddly melted lump of iron on a pedestal, a fine heavy mace hanging on the wall, and a broken staff lying on another pedestal.
Kellan Demonbane
|
"Interesting."
Kellan enters the room and searches around, looking at each of the items to try to determine if they are useful/magical.
detect magic looking around.
Percep: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Ilya Akyll
|
While Kellan checks the items for magic properties, Ilya checks the room itself.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
| DM Kludde |
The mace is actually magical, the other items seem to be keepsakes of sorts. The tapestry seems valuable (but bulky).
Ilya searches the room, and finds a secret door on the east side, which leads to a small side room and another secret passage, which is obvious from this side.
There's also a not-so-secret door to the north.
