DM Kludde |

Gary searches the room for traps. Although he doesn't find any on the stairs, he does find a magical ward in the middle of the room, next to the control panel. Before Batty has the chance to trigger it, Gorax calls it out.

![]() |

"Let's just try and get rid of this here first."
Ward =/= trap?

DM Kludde |

No, it's the same. It's a trap.
The trap seems to be localised to just in front of the panel. Getting around it is easy, but getting close to the panel without triggering it is not.

Shardra Stonespeaker |

"Can you dispell it Enora?" Shardra asks, curious about what the ward would be.
Can we identify it with detect magic and spellcraft? If it isn't to bad, we can just trigger it and heal... what the heck right?

![]() |

"Allow me." Garox says and goes to work with his set of tools to disrupt the magical runes holding the trap together.

With uncanny precision, Garox manages to disable the trap, making the room safe once more.
You gleam some basic functionality of the panel. Its seems to control some item, allowing them to be switched on and off: the trap in this room, the trap in the previous room, and some for of lighting.
Descending down the stairs, the party arrives in a room of similar shape. The air here is cooler than the upper floor, and the room is relatively clean and clear of debris. The walls, though made of stone, bear the carved likeness of fresh soil riddled with tree roots. A staircase along the northern wall winds upward to the floor above, and an open doorway leads to the south.

"Yes, we should find out what he knows of this place and why he was here. He may be quite useful as we seek to understand what this site is. Bind him up, then wake him."
Would it be appropriate to use this opportunity to cast legend lore? According to the description I spoilered below, it would take quite some time. I also don't generally like doing things akin to: "I make a check, now tell me all the answers GM so I don't actually have to problem solve." If it isn't appropriate I will not use it. I guess it depends on what kind of info we can get from the dark elf...
Shardra peers at the groggy dark elf as he begins to come around.

Well, now is the chance to save your own life. Lets start by who you are, who you work for, and why you were here."

I love that this is both a veiled threat AND veiled hint :) Legend lore would be on the keep, but it sounds like that doesn't make sense in teh flow of the game. Could always do it as flavor at the end of the scenario, which would make much more sense.
