GM Kwinten |
I was wondering why people weren't discussing things in the discussion forum and instead using the gameplay section. Turns out, I have to post before it's available.
So uh, whoops.
GM Kwinten |
It was nice to see you too!
If you got a chronicle sheet for the Quest, you can stick it to Araklifest and make him level 2. You'll get less gold from it than from a regular adventure, but it'll help you level your character faster. :)
Araklifest |
As a bladebound Magus at level 2 I get an intelligent weapon that scales with level. How is this handled in PFS? As Araklifest can be 2nd level before we start this adventure, I'm curious.
GM Kwinten |
Basically, you're in control of it, as I have no idea what it can do. You can roll Knowledge checks for it, Perception checks, and so on. Dumb creatures are technically under a GM's control, but I've rarely seen that rule enforced (because, again, the player knows much better what your companion is capable of). Smart things, such as intelligent items, are under a player's control. I've seen one Bladebound Magus never roleplay his sword at all, and one Magus who actually had in-character conversations with it. The intelligent item is capable of overtaking you, but since I have no idea what its character is, I'll have to trust you on it.
I'm looking at the archetype, and don't you get it at level 3? Or am I looking at the wrong archetype (Bladebound)?
Araklifest |
No, you're right and I remembered it wrong. So I have time to get used to a sentient weapon.
I'll try to level my magus before we start and lay it at your feet for approvement (and as I'm not a min-maxer it doesn't need to be the best possible, but a build I feel comfortable with).
Araklifest |
I leveled Araklifest to Magus 2:
BAB: +1 => MAB, RAB, CMB and CMD +1 each
HP: +6 => 15
FORT, WILL: +1
Skill ranks: +6 (included favorite class)
leveled skills: Knowledge (arcana, dungeoneering, planes), spellcraft, use magic device and perception
Gold: +100 (due to quest)
Class feature: Spellstrike
Spells per day: 4/3
Prepared spells: 0: + prestidigitation; 1: + chill touch
Did I forgot something or applied something wrong?
GM Kwinten |
Seems about right, although I have no real clue how a Magus works. But class feature wise, yeah.
Question, though: you have four out of three level one spells. How do you get to four? You get two from your level, and one from having a high INT. Where's that last one coming from?
Oh, by the way, I'm planning on starting this in early June. Tineke'll be back the second of June, and maybe fighting some jetlag. Starting on the fifth sounds like a good idea. Or would you need more time discussing which characters you'll bring along?
Also, I'll be posting some info on the location you're going to in the gameplay section, so you'll have a bit of an idea where you're going to, for immersion's sake.
Araklifest |
According to Ultimate Magic, page 10, a Magus 2 gets 4 level 0 and 2 level 1 spells per day; 1 extra level 1 spell for having high INT, makes 4/3 spells per day to me, but perhaps I see it wrong.
As I'm on Schiermonnikoog from 29th of May till 2nd of June, with only limited access to internet and none to my books, starting the 5th of June sounds fine to me.
GM Kwinten |
Oh, I see. The 4 is the amount of spells at level 0, the 3 the number of level 1 spells. I thought it represented an "X out of Y," like "I've used 3 of my 5 daily uses."
Nevermind then, I just didn't understand your notation. You're absolutely fine.
GM Kwinten |
She said she'd be back on the second of June, so tomorrow somewhere. I'm guessing jetlag will incapacitate her for a day or two. I said a few posts back I'll start on Monday.
Party composition might be a good thing to discuss, as some people are still unsure what to bring. I know Araklifest will join in, and I'm guessing May as well, but Rico, Gorrec, and Woran are unsure about their characters. So Araklifest is a frontliner, May is a frontliner/generalist (from what I've seen).
GM Kwinten |
As said, I'm going to start the story tomorrow. You can discuss which characters to bring if you haven't decided yet, but I'd at least like to get the briefing out of the way, otherwise we'll never start.
EDIT: Also, Your Monk might have some fun here. Not exactly a recommendation, but there's a nice tie-in, though it's only very minor. Otherwise, this isn't exactly a diplomatic mission, so depending on how you play it, face skills aren't necessary. They'd help here and there, but not absolutely mandatory, like in the previous adventure we played.
Mr. Bonkers |
I can finally access the Paizo website again, and I see we have started. Since I'm still a bit torn about who to play, I'm just gonna let the site decide it for me. I'll let it roll a d2, and assign my characters in order of creation (1=Monk, 2=Spiritualist)
Who to Play?: 1d2 ⇒ 2
EDIT: The die has spoken, it shall be my Spiritualist, Shina Burtory. I'll add her stats to her profile for our GM, and then join the Gameplay Thread. Only 1 question remains... Does our GM want the Phantom as a seperate Alias, or just include it in the profile of the Spiritualist?
Dr. Scamandros |
In a puff of smoke May and Nitoriu disappear and in their place a tall man seems to appear. He coughs and waves the smoke away. You see him clearly now, it appears to be an Elf in a long white lab coat.
He looks around ans says "Please state the nature of the medical Emergency"
Dr. Scamandros is an lvl 2 Alchemist Chirurgeon, skilled in the science of healing. If need be his explosives bombs can heal rather than hurt.
GM Kwinten |
Maurice, I don't care if he has a special alias, as long as I can readily see his stats, for Perception checks, saves and AC and such.
Shina Burtory |
After many tries (site keeps eating my changes to the profile...) I have finally finished the profile of my Spiritualist. For our GM, the second set of numbers in my subscribt above belong to the Phantom, and both the master's and the Phantom's stats can be found in the profile itself (including explanations of the various abilities). Hopefully, this is readable enough, otherwise give me a shout.
Shina Burtory is a Female human Spiritualist build as a frontliner together with her Phantom. She has a Wand of CLW she can activate herself, and is capable of identifying the type of caster by succeeding at a spellcraft (Scrutinize Spell, see profile)
Mallus is the Phantom (Anger) who haunts Shina, due to her "inheriting" his greataxe (he never approved, she found it and took it)
Dr. Scamandros |
what I don't get is, if we have a suprise round, why can't Araklifest not do his action, and don't we go again due to being the top of the initiative again in the first normal round?
GM Kwinten |
I've worded it weirdly. Everyone downstairs can already take a move action from where you are now, then take your full turn. Seems that's caused a bit of confusion. Everyone who hasn't already done so can take an additional move action.
Shina Burtory |
I just noticed a terrible grammar mistake, and I can't change it anymore.... Damn you-can't-change-anything-after-1-hour mentality...
GM Kwinten |
I'm intentionally not posting, as I'd like to give you the chance to come up with a plan of attack, so to speak. If you think you're ready, just say so and I'll continue.
Also, how am I doing so far? Feel free to be honest. I worry I'm guiding your hand too much, but I'd like to be clear about what your options are. I never intended to force a plan through or something.
Shina Burtory |
It's going fine, don't worry. You already said that if there are enough people agreeing on a plan, we perform that plan. And that works wonderfully.
Although it is good to know our options, it might be handy to see if the players can come up with it themselves. It is more satisfying for the players. But if they seem to be lost, it is fine to just give a hint.
Estombra Tenebroskar |
Sorry for the low amounts of post, but private life has interfered.
I still read them, and I will post if necessary.
As for the plan, both disguise and full assault are okay with Estombra.
GM Kwinten |
Christiaan, no worries. Happened to me too during Consortium Compact. It's fine. Hope it calms down soon.
GM Kwinten |
I'm cutting out all the "in-between"-parts. I mean, it could've led to some roleplaying, but it wasn't very important to the story. Otherwise we'd waste several more days on this. If people think I'm rushing it too much, just say so.
