Looking forward to an interesting special - and especially to play together with Lady Vanessa again! :-D

Lemme think about it ... it's just that Spica and Vanessa have an 'interesting' history together. It would be nice to continue that.

I’m honestly quite pleased that people enjoy playing with her. Especially since she can be a little over the top.
And speaking of which, if I cross a line that someone’s not comfortable with, please let me know. I assure you that I will tone it back and will not take it poorly or personally at all. She can be a little suggestive and racy. Mature topic suggestiveness, but never so crude as to spell it out. She is a Lady after all.
We don’t have a rogue if you pull Rani. And yes, Lady V will miss Spica. But she does like halflings, too. They’re just the right height for certain kinds of “play.”

Well, she surely knows how to make an impression. ;-)

Thanks for offering. From my side there is no such issue in sight. :-) However, in no way that does invalidate somebody else's no-goes, of course...

Oops. Lady V made level 8, but I haven’t updated any of her stuff. I’ll have it done before we start.

Added myself. Bon Jon is up to level 8 but I need to update him. Also, fyi, this is a replay for me (though I don't really remember anything about the plotline) but I played it at a different tier.

Aid Token mechanism
During the event, it is possible for characters at one table to assist those at another through the use of Aid Tokens. Each Aid Token represents the assistance of one or more allied Pathfinder agents who strive to restore order and repel invaders across the Grand Lodge’s campus.
Once per encounter, any character at a table can use an Aid Token to assist the group in one of five ways described below. Once a table uses an Aid Token, the token grants no further benefit until the end of the encounter, at which point one of the players can pass the Aid Token to a neighboring table for them to use. It is very important that the players remember that there are a limited number of Aid Tokens, and hoarding one means that somebody else doesn’t get to use it.
An Aid Token’s benefits vary based on the table’s subtier, and these benefits can take one of the following five forms.
Aid Another (+3): A Pathfinder agent helps the PCs solve a puzzle, disable a trap, or accomplish some other task as if performing the aid another action for a PC. In Subtiers 5–6 and 7–8, the bonus granted increases by 1. In Subtier 10–11, the bonus increases by 2.
Allied Offensive (2d8): A Pathfinder agent strikes a creature at the same time as the PC, increasing the damage dealt by one attack by 1d8 points. In addition, after the attack, the target is considered to be flanked until the beginning of the attacker’s next turn. In Subtiers 5–6 and 7–8, increase the damage dealt to 2d8 points. In Subtier 10–11, this amount increases to 3d8 points.
Burst of Healing (3d6): A Pathfinder agent heals all of the PCs of 1d6 points of damage. In Subtiers 5–6 and 7–8, the amount healed increases to 3d6 points. In Subtier 10–11, the amount healed increases to 5d6 points. Alternatively, in any subtier the agent can instead cast neutralize poison, remove curse, or remove disease with a caster level equal to the table’s APL (minimum 5).
Spellcasting Synergy (+2): A Pathfinder agent casts a spell at the same time, increasing the save DC and caster level of a PC’s spell by 1. In Subtiers 7–8 and 10–11, the PC’s caster level instead increases by 2.
Timely Inspiration (+2/+2): A Pathfinder agent provides the effects of a bard’s inspire courage bardic performance for 3 rounds. In Subtiers 1–2 and 3–4, the competence bonus is +1. In Subtiers 5–6 and 7–8, the competence bonus increases to +2. In Subtier 10–11, the competence bonus increases to +3.
Unfortunately, our table did not start with any Aid Tokens. However, it's possible to earn additional Aid Tokens during gameplay. So don't worry! Do note that the Aid Tokens in this scenario is not expended upon use, but instead pass to the other tables, which kind of explain why we only start with very few Aid Tokens.

The Outpost VII has officially started!
Your GM lives in Central Standard Time area (UTC−06:00), so updates will mostly happen during 9AM~12AM central time.
We will be using Google Slides for maps. They should be on top of the page. I will also include them in my GM profile header. There're some character information that I would like you guys to fill in (Initiative, Perception, Sense Motives modifier, and the three saving throws). Also, please import your character token into the Google Slide and determine your marching order.
If any of you are mostly phone poster who has difficulty manipulating Google Slides, let me know. I will try my best to help you.
Please fill out the RPG Chronicle sheet, as that is the system we use to report the game to the VOs, who will report them to Paizo. If you feel uncomfortably using the RPG Chronicle sheet, you can DM me your contact info for receiving chronicle sheet, and I will handle the RPG chronicle for you.

Sorry I haven't posted in gameplay yet. Just got my character leveled up and will find the time to make a post sometime later today. Just wanted to confirm that I'm here!

I’ve got my info on the GM’s handout, if someone would be kind enough to copy and paste my token and put it 4th in the marching order, please. Thanks a bunch!

I put my character information and the character tokens (also for Ashwell) into the slides.

Updated the slide with Lady Vanessa's info and token. To clarify, her title has no mechanical effect. I haven't gotten the right boon on her yet to make it so.
She always spends 20 gp on something fashionable in the city for the skill bonus which she would have done before coming to this soiree of course.

I did quite of bit of GMing at some cons pre-covid so I've got my tiefling, samsaran, vanara, dhampir, and aasimar already in play.
I also have a merfolk. It was a GM boon that was traded to me by an Aussie buddy (Yours is Mine). But it requires mulching 3 other race boons that grant access to either dhampir, grippli, ratfolk, samsaran or vanara. Fortunately I either had or was able to trade for enough of those. He's my final PF1 character, so I figured I wouldn't need any more race boons anyway.
FWIW, I still have one last race boon that allows for the choice of one of the following: ghoran, kobold, rougorou, or samsaran.
(I've also got a triaxian/lashunta/android boon that I've been holding for my adult son in case he wants to come back to PF1. I suppose if someone had a Prosperity boon to trade, I'd part with it.)
Bon Jon Bovi
|
Rani, I know I've got some various race boons that I'll never use. If you're interested I can take a look and send you some. Will be a few days until I get home though.
Lady Vanessa Reisende
|
It's not often that they did it, but the merfolk boon says: "You can combine this boon with three boons that enable you to play any combination of the following races: dhampir, grippli, ratfolk, samsaran, or vanara." So you have to use up those three boons and keep them with your merfolk character (hence the term "mulching" them.) I ended up using 2 ratfolks and a samsaran since it said "any combination."
It's sad that there was so much play Down Under and in Europe, but those players and GMs weren't able to get the paper race and other interesting con boons. I'm glad they fixed that with the AcP system.

Lady Vanessa Reisende wrote:You need Bluff, not Diplomacy, for what you're trying to do."Nigel, dahling, I didn't see you back zhere," the Lady says as she greets the Curator with an air kiss. "Zhe last time vas at Michellia's vedding on zhat little island. You simply must tell me all zhe best gossip - as ve get you to safety first ov course."
Assessing the situation at the gate, and listening to the poor halfling girl's worries, the Lady once again takes charge of the situation.
She strides up to the Absalom guardsman and confirms that he is the leader of this contingent. If not, she insists in her most noble but polite way that he get someone in authority to speak for all the guards.
Once she's assured that she has the Platoon Captain (or vhatever), she addresses him firmly but politely.
"Captain, I am zhe Lady Vanessa Reizende. I have been granted a temporary field promotion to Venture Captain. I assure you zhere is nothing creepy hiding in zhese buildings," she says with a side-eye glance towards Nigel Aldain, "but zhere are dangerous creatures on zhe grounds zhat ve are in zhe process of subduing. I'm sure you don't vant to put your men at risk defending Pathfinders, and ve don't vant to be responsible for zheir safety eizher," she says with genuine concern in her voice for the troops.
She glances back to the nobles they've just escorted up. "Perhaps you can serve your own citizens by ensuring zhat zhese VIP's get home safely," she suggests as a way of cooperating with the guard, getting them to leave, and allowing him to save face by taking on this Very Important task.
[dice=Diplomacy, Fashionable]d20+18+2
Ninja'd. Ashwell posted while I was in the middle of crafting this one.
The result would be the same. Her Bluff is +20 but Fashionable Accessories wouldn't apply.
I kind of thought it was a valid interpretation of what they were told, specifically "hereby bestow you the temporary authority to act on my behalf as a venture-captain." (emphasis added, obvs) To me that says, "you can act as a VC." She was just paraphrasing to explain what her authority is to persons outside the Society.
But the rest is completely not bluffing. There's no "creepy buildings" here as far as she knows - take Nigel home to find those. There are dangerous critters (she saw the elephant), and they are being subdued. And she doesn't want to be responsible for the troop's safety.
But as I said, Bluff would be the same result if you want her to use that.

Baphory’s Walk: This pathway is infamous for its waist-high carved heads from the Mwangi Expanse. At random intervals and when nobody is watching, the faces can change their expressions in an instant.
The Center House: This home of Ustalavic design has remained off-limits by order of the Decemvirate for as long as anyone can remember. On some nights, lights shine from within, suggesting its two towers are haunted.
If you don't know your very next mission target is said to be haunted......well, now you know.
That sentence was mean to be read as he as the VC grant you the authority over other pathfinders, so that you can tell them how to do their job. It's my fault that I don't English well enough.
Using the that roll result for bluff is fine. Just want to make sure the correct skill is being used.

Oh, yeah! She'll keep that - likely for a Save.
Unfortunately, that's not how the spell lucky number works...
[dice=Diplomacy]d20+18+2
Extra +2 from Fashionable Accessories to make a request of denizens of Absalom.
Here your lucky number would apply - you have the option to reroll (not recommended as it cannot get better) or add a +2 luck bonus to the result (not needed with that result).
Shall I cast it on you again?
Lady Vanessa Reisende
|
Thanks Grunjar. You'd think I'd remember that as I have a character with a Lucky Number wand also. (And Vanessa may get one after this adventure is done, too.) I guess I was conflating it with the Precog's paradox roll.
Actually, rerolling it is not a bad idea. As you say, it's not going to help a Nat 20 much. If you don't mind burning another charge on her.
1d20 ⇒ 8
Yeah, that's probably a more rerollable or Luck assistable result.
@GM: We can chalk it up to her accent. Clearly, Common isn't her first language :)

Just giving you guys a heads up. I will be mentoring for my high school's FRC robotic team in the regional competition from this Friday to Sunday. Which means I will be occupied for most of the day, and would only be able to post at late night after I got home.
Apologize in advance for the slow reply.

I'm at a loss on this challenge.
Another Diplo check? Not likely from a meta-perspective.
Our assignment here was: "the Repository and the Center House, despite having wards and defenses, should still be cordoned off and protected from the outside."
Is this guy possessed or cursed? Can we check for that?
Can we cast something on them like bless to "bolster their courage" meaning the bonus vs fear?
Do we tell them to swap duties with the halfling girl's team at the front gate?
Thoughts or does someone else want to take the lead on this one?

The 15 mins transition time comes from the table which my character is playing at. The scenario make no mention of in game time limit, but due to the state of emergency that the Grand Lodge is in......
Let's ask the RNGesus. High yes, low no.Is there enough time?: 1d100 ⇒ 73

Personally I'm fond of using dice to make decision like this. If someone does not want to accept the result of the dice, maybe that person should reconsider playing a d20 based game, where the result of the dice determine almost everything :)

Ashwell, Rani and Grunjar have a Perception modifier of +12 or more. That means with these rolls we definitively find the secret door. ;-)

Only those who exit the stairwells (i.e. Ellismus) can see them (unless you see through wall), and they're human.
Right, I figured she couldn't actually see them yet, but the orc, the contraptions and the room were well described even though we couldn't see all of that yet either. It was just a little confusing that the contraptions were in the NW and SW parts of the room, as were tokens for what looked like humanoids. Got it.

Thanks for playing, everyone! You guys have one of the funniest characters that I played with.
As stated, the tables earned enough successes to get Impressive Defense, so every player gets 2 Prestige and can choose one boon on their chronicle sheet.
Rani, could you fill out the RPG Chronicle with your character info, so that I can get the reporting information out to the VC, and generate everyone's chronicle sheets?
