Jiggo Maelerant
|
Jiggo resigns himself to raiding a tomb, and mutters a quick prayer of forgiveness.
Aid Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
He's being too cautious, however.

Strength check: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 = 16
You easily lift the stone lid, revealing the bones of Arkath the stonemason. Little is left save for his bones and some ragged scraps of cloth, likely the remains of a burial shroud.
Dailung: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Jiggo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Kazzak: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Kazzak Ebonheart

Kazzak points to the skull.
Look there some sort of silvercoin.
He then waits for someone with finer fingers to retrieve it.
Jiggo Maelerant
|
Jiggo reaches in, avoiding touching as much of the body as he can.
Dex check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Dailung
|
Reaching into her coin purse Dailung puts down two silver coins. "For Pharasmas guide!" before looking at the inside of the coffin, searching for any clues worked into the stone.
Jiggo Maelerant
|
"So sorry!" Jiggo blurts as the skull rolls over.
"This is a pretty new coin...Taldane? But that's been gone for centuries."
Garikai Frendosherks.
|
"Clearly it was meant to be a reproduction of the old coins," Garikai said. "Anything esoteric to it?" he asks to Kazzak.
Garekai will search the place again, slowly and carefully. Do I roll or take 10 on this?
Dailung
|
Sighing Dailung says"Well, if in doubt.. .ask. We have met this lovely jen in the wounded wisp. She could give us a hint what to do next... or identify the coins magic.
Piety Angelbane

Piety follows, glad nothing showed up in the tomb.

Dailung
|
After a few meters Dailung adresses the others. "About those names that were mentioned, does it ring a bell. I am no learned person, and again maybe Janira can help, but anyone any ideas now?"
Garikai Frendosherks.
|
"Personally, while I had always thought myself to be an excellent scholar, obviously I was wrong. I am ashamed, and Father certainly would be, at how poor of a showing I am making in terms of contribution to our knowledge base."
He hangs his head in shame, feeling rather useless.
Dailung
|
There is a famous wizard in the wounded wisp. I think Ezren. We could ask him. And I would love to meet him.
Traflet
|
Traflet nods encouragingly, Don't worry, at least you had a better shot than we did! You'll get it next time!
| GM Lamplighter |
You return to the Wounded Wisp, and find that Ezren is no longer there. After talking to the barkeep, you find that Janira hasn't been back, and is likely somewhere at the Grand Lodge or in one of Absalom's many libraries. Aram bin Kaleel told you he would be at his shop in the Coins District if you needed any aid.
Traflet
|
Well, it could take ages to find Janira if we don't know where to look first. Should we try to find Aram?
Dailung
|
"That is a good idea... let´s go!"
| GM Lamplighter |
Wandering the Coins district, you soon come upon Kaleel's Curiosities. A tiny bell rings as you enter the shop, which is stuffed with many strange objects from many lands. Shelves of books line one wall, unusual art pieces fill another area, and a glass case holds jewelry and other items, including several wayfinders.
"Greetings, my friends," calls Aram bin Kaleel from across the room. "I am at your service. What can I do for you?"
Dailung
|
"Hello Master Aram bin Kaleel, or is it Master bin Kaleel? I was wondering. Well, no matter, Sir, you see we found this coin in a tomb. We do know it is magical, but... we lack the ability to identify it. You are well known as a master of magical and mundane lore and we thought, you could help us with it." Looking at Aram with big eyes the little girl admits their failure to find some clues."Also we found out that someone smuggled 3 names on the wall of lost pathfinders and we hoped you could shed some light on this problem." With this words Dailung presents the paper with the three names.
| GM Lamplighter |
Aram takes the items from Dailung and examines them.
"These names... you found them carved into the Wall of Names?" Aram raises an eyebrow. "They are not Pathfinders - they are three of The Failed. All three took the test of the Starstone and tried to ascend to godhood, like countless others before them." He looks thoughtful as he turns to the coin.
"This is a magical device called a Pathfinder's coin. It was used to convey covert messages between agents. When placed onto a wayfinder - " he withdraws a silver compass from the folds of his robe - "it will reveal..."
He places the coin flat on the top of the wayfinder. For a moment, nothing happens, and then the coin stands up vertically, balanced on an edge. It rises into the air an inch or so, and begins to spin. From the aether about you, a man's voice speaks from across the ages:
"The path and chamber are complete, hidden behind the nameplate of the requested aspirant and guarded by the word you requested. Fimbrik will add more."
After the message sounds, the coin floats back down to rest on the compass.
Aram looks at you somberly. "Clearly you have uncovered something significant. These two clues both point to the Shrine of the Failed, the memorial near Starstone Cathedral that honors and remembers The Failed. The name Fimbrik... sounds gnomish, do you recognize it?"
Kazzak Ebonheart
|
Fimbrik was mentioned in Selmius Foster's Journal notes... Kazzak recalls. I thought it also mentioned an adress...
Jiggo Maelerant
|
"Ah, yes. I think Selimus's notes said he was unable to get a chance to speak to him. I wonder if we'll find any clues at his old address." Jiggo agrees with Kazzak.
"Thank you for your aid, Aram. We'd be lost without you." A quick nod and Jiggo turns around, ready to look at Fimbrik's old whereabouts. "Whether or not we find anything, we should go to the Shrine of the Failed, afterward."
Garikai Frendosherks.
|
"Well I'd like to go back to turn this creature's body over and let it be studied, to get this rather severe weight off my back. Then I suggest we head straight to Fimbrik's address."
Dailung
|
"Well Garikai... you are on... let´s go.!"
| GM Lamplighter |
You head to Fimbrik's house, a stone two-story house with small round rooms on each corner. A short brick walk leads up to the ornate double doors, but the porch is littered with mail and newspapers which spill out of the mailslot in the door, which is completely jammed with paper. There are windows in the main doors and in each of the round rooms.
Map coming...
Traflet
|
Traflet moves up to one of the windows on the door, which seems perfectly suited for him to glance into at eye level,
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
| GM Lamplighter |
The main doors seem to open into a large parlor, well furnished. A large couch is positioned somewhat awkwardly close to the door, its high back facing you. On the right, two single doors lead into other areas of the house; on the left, a massive pair of double doors lead to the west wing. Just in front of the door, piles of mail are stacked neatly.
Kazzak Ebonheart
|
Kazzak has a cursory glance over the correspondence to confirm whether the man they are looking for is still actually living here.
Jiggo Maelerant
|
Now we're breaking and entering...worth it I guess.
Jiggo takes a look around, searching for any clues.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Garikai Frendosherks.

"Someone who is alive will leave traces of it. One must eat, drink, sleep, relieve themselves, and will show signs of some trace of activity, whether it be work or pleasure. So I suggest we search for things such as freshly poured drink, freshly prepared food, check the bed . . ."
Afraid of getting lost in words, Garikai becomes silent and assists in the search.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Oops, I think he broke something . . . I'm sorry. Some people should stick to the seashore.
Kazzak Ebonheart

With hs fellows companions having ungently announced their presence Kazzak makes his way upstairs before the properito has a chance to call the authorities or make a run for it.
