Kenji Nishida |
Kenji just lays there, stable but unconscious of all that is transpiring...
Keera Airbornt |
What I'm doing thinks Keera, realizing how bad idea it was to look for a wand in the backpack when she has a better one in the springloaded wraistsheet. Then she moves carefully toward Sele to wake him.
CSW, fey foundling: 3d8 + 5 + 6 ⇒ (1, 7, 6) + 5 + 6 = 25
Stand up and chop that dragon. We aren't going to resist much more
Meanwhile, Sobrino continues attacking the dragon, trying to find a weak spot in his hard skin.
Sobrino´s bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 221d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Sobrino´s claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Sobrino´s claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Sele the Thorn |
Sele is up atm.. but that dragon could take him down.. what you give will heal Sele to max.. probably a good idea.. though..
GM Chyro |
Well, not to worry, actually. With what you pulled off, and Spenser correcting Vassago (which i thought he'd do himself, which he wouldn't with that kind of a result ^^), you've dished out so much dmg.
Did i mention yet i was worried for the team? :)
Sele is administered some extra healing, but Sobrino only just misses Blemia.
=========================
While Spenser misses his attacks, Vassago's blast hits well enough for Blemia to roar out in anger.
"Some day, wretched creatures, i shall have my revenge.
I will find out who you work for, where you live, and wreck havoc upon you all!"
She withdraws, flying towards -and withdrawing through, a large hole in the back of the hall.
Combat over!!! You defeated a DRAGON!!
Kenji Nishida |
well everyone else defeated a dragon... lol... I slept through it.
Sele the Thorn |
"Blah blah... I attacked some people who were trying to talk to me and they hurt me, now i'm all angsty and running for my life."
Sele looks around at his companions now to see how they all are..
"Well that was a bit exciting. I have a feeling we need to look around and see if we can find what we are looking for here."
That dragon was lucky I was being foolish and talking, smite evil woulda probably turned that first hit into a confirmed crit which with the +12 damage on first hit to a dragon and double damage.. we mighta finished it off.
Keera Airbornt |
Well, Kenji, you eat some hits for the group. If not, another one could had died
Keera floats toward the ground. Wow that hurted. In any case, what was a dragon doing here? Was it some sort of defense? If yes we hadn't helped a lot Then he puts the CSW wand in the wraistsheet again and uses the other wand to heal herself.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 If my math is right I was wounded for 20 and I healed back 19
Then she goes to pet Sobrino. don't feel bad for not hurting her, she was big and powerful. You have done well and survived without being wounded, not like me Then she turns to Sele, your feeling doesn't say anything of curing our friends first? he adds winking before going to cure the rest of the group.
Keera will tap you with your wands as much as you need, roll for yourselves.
We defeated a dragon!!!!!!
Spenser Quixote |
"Stand ye apoint and fight, treacherous chernovyrm!!!" Shouts Sir Spenser as he shakes his fist at the fleeing dragon. "Ah, alas, so be it. Surely thou shalt face rightful reckoning someday - an epic tale and Story Saved for one and all, HUZZAH!!!"
Sele the Thorn |
You should use the CSW wand, that is in this adventure only and doesn't use up your personal resources. No I hadn't got to the healing part yet.. I was waiting to see what happened in the aftermath.
GM Chyro |
That dragon was lucky I was being foolish and talking, smite evil woulda probably turned that first hit into a confirmed crit which with the +12 damage on first hit to a dragon and double damage.. we mighta finished it off.
Or....the Lucky ones are -you-, since i forgot to have Blemia cast shield upon herself. Which would have only made the crit threats hits.
You'd probably had been in a lot more trouble.Keera Airbornt |
I feel lucky for surviving after eating the AoO
Keera moves toward Kenji and cures him. Wake up my friend, we have job to do
last CSW charge: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5, 4) + 5 = 16
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji wakes up with a soft groan... "Oh man, I feel like I've been smacked with a huge hammer... what happened? Where's the dragon's corpse? Surely you defeated it, yes?
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
4 charges and back to full, thanks Keera
GM Chyro |
Sorry for not updating yesterday.
With Blemia gone, the great hall is empty, aside from yourselves.
In a far corner, you find lewt!
Counting would be a waste of time (unless your name happens to be Scrooge McDuck), but by the sheer size of it, you put a rough estimate of 5k in gold pieces and gems.
As well as a small transparant container of salve. Slightly opening it, it has a sharp herbal smell.
A small cabinet reveals an old small box, in which a partially remaining parchment of what seems to be a verse.
The small tomb left you went into after arriving.
In brightest Day, or Darkest Night,
The Tyrant's servants shan't escape our sight.
His power unholy, yet for all his might,
We will keep him sealed, soul radiant bright.
A soul's radiance would only be seen if it manifested itself.
Which has been told of as by, not excluded to, experiencing a vision, or personal sacrifice in a burst of energy.
Come to think of it, the body in the tomb had some peculiar residue on it. Could it have been from the latter??
I think that, if you pass the above checks, you will have found enough clues to solve the case, and restore the seal.
Spenser Quixote |
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
"I seem to recollect a Story...of a wondrous box, somehow wrought of deep earth's congealed oils, in which any peasant ought may inter a sausage, or cabbage, or sandwich, or dainty pickled egg, in which it may rest many a night, yet be made impervious to the foul humours which doth despoil most any comestible. The box's wright, I ken, made an oath as to the fitness of his making upon the loins of a virile ram. Perhaps this dothly-ennamed 'tupper's swear' could too succor a mortal soul???"
Sele the Thorn |
Sele checks out the salve
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Then he goes on to read the parchment and try and figure out the riddle
Kn Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Does someone now need to make a heal check?
Sele the Thorn |
Can Sele make any sense of what the meaning residue and bursts of energy
GM Chyro |
Yes you can, together with what Vassago's moment of inspiration provided.
Since once you guys backtrack and check the tomb and residue...
This one was likely at the center of such one energy burst.
And if what Vassago believes is to be true, together with the oath, this person must have sacrificed themselves for some greater purpose.
I'll get a better post up later today.
GM Chyro |
Kenji was carrying the piece of parchment, and along with the oath and the discovery of the energy, the team begins thoroughly examining the tomb more closely.
As they do, they find hints of the great sealing ritual to have been performed in the great hall.
....a few minutes later, back over there....
At the wall opposite of where you found Blemia's hoard, there is a fine yet faded pattern on the wall. As Sele swipes away the dust, and Spenser a few cobwebs, you find a big seal.
It has many cracks in it, and it faintly humms.
Keera spots a small copper tube, carefully stacked away between a set of loose bricks, it describes a prayer to Shizuru, patron goddess of the samurai and Tien people.
Dark ominous whispers seem to come from it every so often.
Kenji carefully opens the parchment he found earlier, and while reciting both the poem and the words in the prayer, it requires a last touch of holy healing energy.
Sele puts out his hand, and channels some divine energies into the seal.
It starts glowing bright blue, and the team hold up their hands to shield their eyes from the light.
The cracks vanish, and a sharp angry whisper is cut off as a warm glow now pulses from the seal, seemingly renewing the protective seal, locking away the Whispering Tyrant once again, preventing his return to the surface world.
Sele the Thorn |
"Whew!.. Luckily that was enough, i'm not that good at projecting the holy energies." he says with relief
Keera Airbornt |
That was too close for my taste, and for Sobrino Keera says as she tries to calm Sobrino, who's still looking for a creature responsible of the whispers. We should ask for some society's sages to come here to study how long the seal will last. It'll be better to know when it needs to be restored
Kenji Nishida |
"I agree Keera... too close for comfort... NOt sure how long I was out... but don't want a repeat of that particular experience. I hope this seal holds now, if so, I guess it was worth the efforts."
GM Chyro |
Oi, i've skipped a day..
Ok, you've gathered the treasures. Will you still continue with the last few blocked off parts, or will you leave?
If you will continue, i'd like a roll DC 20 Craft [Stone Masonry] or DC 20 [Kn. Dungeoneering], if you please.
Sele the Thorn |
Do we think we've finished the mission? and in pfs there's nothing to be gained by doing extra is there other than possibly dying?
Keera Airbornt |
I think we had done the most important part, but goig back to the lodge and saying we didn't explored the last part woudn't be very apreciated (no 2nd PP). So we could try.
GM Chyro |
@ Sele: you would have the impression you have done what was needed, yes.
Whether death or injury is possible, maybe?
Some people are completionists, others leave after the main objective, and with a dungeon crawl, hence me asking.
@ Keera: I don't have the pdf on victory conditions on my phone, so i can't answer if the exploring is relevant beyond current state.
Kenji Nishida |
no strong inclination either way here, but not exploring often affects final gold total too
GM Chyro |
As a fyi, the main treasure in this scenario comes from defeating monsters.
Sele the Thorn |
"I guess we should explore the rest of this place then.. yes? Sele asks
GM Chyro |
Yeah, Vassago is still hurt, according to the map, as is Keera.
When you healed all up with the wands...
Ok guys, lets see those rolls.
Is the order South, West, North, ok? The route of nearest rooms, or did you have a different route in mind?
Sele the Thorn |
On the map no one is hurt? all at full..
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji's still down to 14 hp out of 41... I'll roll and take the charges off his wand, if you'd be so kind as to use it on him, Sele
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
that's 27, which puts him exactly at 41
Keera Airbornt |
@GM no matter if you could check the 2nd victory conditions, I think the decemvirate always want an extra effort and not just doing the bare minimum for the mission.
I healed myself to full, before healing Kenji with the last CSW charge
Lest go to the nearest room, we could continue exploring this place Says Keera as she flies toward her companions to cast more guidance on them.
Kenji Nishida |
Keera - save your last csw charge... I marked the 5 charges off my own wand already
GM Chyro |
Someone hit that DC 20, and the last danger will be dealt with.
Spenser Quixote |
untrained Craft (Stonemasonry): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
While all this has been going on, Sir Spenser has been staring at the wall rather the way cats do. What does he see in there, the others might wonder...?
One good aid is all I need!
Sele the Thorn |
Sele attempts to help Spenser to figure out the walls properties
Aid untrained Craft (Stonemasonry): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
GM Chyro |
Who said anything about walls? ;)
Exiting the great hall to the NW, Sele and Spenser decide to pay more attention to the ceiling, than what is in front of them.
It pays off, actually, as it indicates a potential cave-in.
I don't recall wheither checks were seperate or collective, but whatever. ;)
The team decides not to continue heading that way.
I will get the closing post tonight.
Sele the Thorn |
I copied what Spenser was talking about as I had no idea...
GM Chyro |
The rooms trun out to be safe, and in a state, like the rest of the place, of serious decline.
Having dealt with the threats, and having restored the seal, you make the trek back.
== A few days later ==
You arrive at the lodge, where the VC is sitting behind his desk, reading notes and reports from other agents.
Knocking the door, he looks up.
"Ah! You're back. How was it, what did you find?"
Vassago Ilsidore |
Sorry, I'm still having issues accessing the campaign tab, and only just found a workaround for accessing the threads
"Several nasty things, but we uncovered a way to reactivate the seal."
Keera Airbornt |
Also we think it'll be great if you send some scholars there to study if the seal will need to be reactivated again in the future. Keera adds. Or at least that's my opinion.
We had killed almost every nasty creature that was there, except a dragon that fleed. She thinks for a moment, well if you send scholars you could send some bodyguards too. In case the dragon decides to come back
Spenser Quixote |
We had killed almost every nasty creature that was there, except a dragon that fleed.
"'Tis 'fled,'" Corrects Sir Spenser absent-mindedly.
GM Chyro |
And has sworn vengeance upon you and your employers.
Aka the society... :)
Sele the Thorn |
"Yes we verily beat it, until it could no longer withstand our percussive statements and fled the argument."
