GM Chyro |
Right-o, back at my pc again.
@ Everyone, i think Sele will translate whatever the dragon is saying.
@ Keera, i see you have Kn. Planes with a good bonus. In combination with what Sele can translate from the dragon's 1st response, you can use that instead, as this involves another plane.
The ruby eyes narrow, before going full again.
"I have not heard of a 'Whispering Tyrant', reptile man.
There is none down here more powerful than myself. This place will do for purposes of my own."
Keera Airbornt |
K. planes: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 Thanks GM
Sele, Shadow Absalom is the conterpart of Absalom in the Shadow plane. Also it's said to be ruled byit's progenitor, Argrinyxia, a powerful umbral dragon. But I've never heard if she has any descendant or not. says Keera to her friend, hoping this information will be usefull to him. But we're far from Absalom and not in the shadow plane, so why is this dragon here?
GM Chyro |
The ruby eyes go left and right, only briefly stopping.
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37
I don't think soneone could score Sense Motive this high, correct?
Any more actions here?
Kenji, Spenser, Vassago?
Despite being from another plane, Umbral dragons are very fond of loot and treasure.
Often tribute works positively.
-----------
For every 100p gp you pay tribute to the dragon, you gain a +1 to a diplomacy check. To a max of +10.
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji is afraid to talk, as he's more likely to lower the diplomacy total, rather than raise it...
Kenji waits for Sele to conclude his diplomatic efforts... trying to stay to the shadows, but under the assumption the dragon can see him regardless, he doesn't make any attempt to sneak up on the beast.
GM Chyro |
It can see you alright. ;)
Perception higher than Keera's even.
Vassago Ilsidore |
"We have no wish to endure our stay any longer than necessary, oh fair dragon!", Vassago's darkvision confirming that everyone has guessed. "We only wish to finish our investigation, then leave. We mean no disrespect, Blamia, but you would agree that having a powerful lich rampaging through your lair would not do anyone good, no?", hoping Sele can properly translate his feelings.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
GM Chyro |
If you guys can rock one more diplomacy, you could bring it back to indifferent, after which it would probably listen more to reason.
Unfriendly dragon is not pleasant. :)
Sele the Thorn |
"Yes the Whispering Tyrant was a very powerful Lich who once was defeated by Aroden himself and then many years later imprisoned by the Knights of Ozem. We seek only to keep him imprisoned and not to interfere or annoy you mighty Blamia."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
GM Chyro |
Diplomacy rolls to affect disposition can be done once every 24 hours. Sorry. :)
Spenser Quixote |
AAAARGH the stupid thread hasn't been keeping me in the loop and I was completely oblivious us encountering this dragon until just now! SORRY!
"Nobless't umbra-wyrm, prithee allow us enquarry our most manxsome foe whose fell and ancient wizardry doth omin to imperil - nay, EXPUNGE - us all! We came here not for thee, and THE STORIES bespeak many a grand tale wherein old inimicae break bread twixt each other in the name of conquering greater horrors!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Oh, come ON...if anyone else can pull some kind of miracle out of their ass, now seems to be a good time.
GM Chyro |
Healing Kenji would be good, as he is still injured.
The ruby glowing eyes narrow, while it listens.
With the team fairly grouped, a sound of firm breathing is heard.
To anticipate trouble and spread out before sh1te happens....
Blemia: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
Sm Keera: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Sele: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Spenser: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Sele and Spenser fel tension, but can't quite determine what it is.
It is then, that Blemia exhales, and a 40ft cone of dark violet energy comes towards the party.
------------------------
Breath attack, DC 18: 6d8 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 7, 8, 8) = 33
Ref Kenji: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Ref Sele: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Ref Spenser, partial cover: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
Ref Vassago, partial cover: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 1 = 20
-------------------------
The wave of energy comes as a total surprise, but Vassago ducks in the nick of time, having it wash over him partially only. The others take the full force.
Spenser takes a nap, as the nl from burn is greater than his current HP. (1).
You are only KO at 1 HP.
Keera: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

[ooc]Ouch! Thinking another tactical retreat... but where to? I will post my turn during my break in about 4 hours, but wanted input before I went a blasting versus using another heal on Spenser or something else.[ooc]

Kenji Nishida |
I have a folio reroll... may I use it on that reflex save?
Kenji Nishida |
ye gods... it gets to go again before Kenji does? This is gonna be nasty, reroll or not
GM Chyro |
You made a reroll vs the confusion at the Animate Dream fight, using your folio.
Kenji Nishida |
never mind then.... lol... hard to remember these things
Vassago Ilsidore |
Alright, we need to retreat and regroup after that. We have to assume GM got lucky and could use the breath weapon again this turn. Plus side... assuming I am looking at the map correctly, we it is large and the way we came in from the east is only 5 feet wide, so we should be able to outrun it and come back better prepared... and not in fireball formation.
Vassago curses in Ignan, which he says so rapidly and with his accent that it is not immediately understood. He places a hand on Spenser to revive him before making his way east to the exit intent is to retreat into another room, so if east was not where we came from, please move him 30 that way. On mobile and cannot edit. "We must regroup, friends!"
Using Internal Buffer to handle the burn on a kinetic heal on Spenser before moving.

Vassago gives a healing boost to Spenser.
Who wakes up at 16 HP, 12 NL, prone and not holding his word from falling KO.
As Spenser is awake before Blemia in init, he gets to act too.

You forgot I'm a Fey Foundling, if I'm not mistaken, so that's 6 more points healed right there.
We have to assume GM got lucky and could use the breath weapon again this turn.
I believe there would have to be a 1-round delay at a bare minimum.
Spenser grabs his sword and stands up....
GM Chyro |
^
^
Yes.
With Spenser back on his feet, Blemia acts.
---------------
With a strong motion of the wings, Blemia ascends to fly towards the 'exit-stage-right', stopping above the group.
As she does, Sele's light cantrip is nullified, and the place becomes pitch black again, leaving only the special vision members to see anything.
She is currently 5ft above you guys.
The hall is 20feet high, she is at the 15-20 feet.
Blemia roars
She now needs to decide which adventurer will be her lunch #1.
1d4 ⇒ 2 Kenji.
Bite, high ground, PA: 1d20 + 15 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (10) + 15 + 1 - 3 = 23 Dmg, PA: 2d6 + 7 + 9 ⇒ (2, 1) + 7 + 9 = 19
She sinks her jaws into Kenji, who falls over from the injury.
Keera, Kenji (con rol please.) & Sele
Keera, the darkness prevents Sobrino from seeing a target to attack, in case you are wondering.
Sele the Thorn |
Sele has an Ioun Torch which is a burned out ioun stone with a continual flame cast on it, which is a level 3 cleric spell.. and the magic item says it is caster level 12
Sele will use Lay on Hands on himself as a swift action
LOH: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) + 6 = 20
and then attacks the dragon, assuming my light is working or even if not
Attack 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 312d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 1) + 7 = 13
Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 242d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 6) + 7 = 14
Attack 1 Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 192d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13
Vassago Ilsidore |
@GM: By using the Internal Buffer, Spenser does not take the Nonlethal damage from healing that the ability would incur, unless he had 12NL beforehand. Otherwise, he should only have the 6.

Kenji Nishida |
con roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 I assume that's a stabilize roll? if so, it's -11 to the roll as he's at neg 11... now at neg 12... 1 more round to roll a 20 or dead... sigh.
GM Chyro |
Not quite, Kenji. You are at -8 HP, so you bleed to -9.
Feeling slightly better?
Kenji Nishida |
better!
Keera Airbornt |
Keera, the darkness prevents Sobrino from seeing a target to attack, in case you are wondering.
Thanks for the reminder.
Keera Airbornt |
But Sele's ioun torch doesn't provide light? I didn't read nothing about the darkness being magical, so it will be enough for Sobrino.[/ooc]
In case the ioun's torch light is enough:
Keera instructs Sobrino to attack the wyrm
Sobrino´s bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Sobrino´s claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 111d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Sobrino´s claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5Sele, go for it, I'll take care of Kenji. Keera says before flying up a little, unseathe her wand and cure Kenji.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
He doesn`t wake up, but at least that means he wont be a target
GM Chyro |
Blemia had darkness cast upon herself.
Sele hacks into Blemia for 27 dmg.
I presume that is a 5ft move towards Kenji.
You can draw a wand as part of BaB, but as part of movement other than a 5ft step. As i don't see a wrist sheathe for your wand on your profile, i assume you retrieve it as a stored item. That provokes.
Kenji bleeds 1 point of HP.
AoO Blemia, high ground, PA: 1d20 + 15 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 15 + 1 - 3 = 21 Dmg, PA: 2d6 + 7 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 + 9 = 22
Blemia takes a bite out of Keera, before she heals Kenji to stability.
Sobrino bravely does his part, but doesn't land a hit on the dragon.

Spenser peers up at the terror before him. He can feel quite acutely how his insides are still ravaged from the previous indignity. His thoughts turn to Lot, left behind in this, his darkest hour to date. Is this really how it ends?
Only one thing is for certain: If he were to run away from this...what kind of knight would he be???
"Gloaming falls, und dracorage art all a-wonder,

Come wind, come rack! At least we die with harness on our back! FOR THE STOOOOORIIIIIEEEEESSSSS!!!!!"

You can draw a wand as part of BaB, but as part of movement other than a 5ft step. As i don't see a wrist sheathe for your wand on your profile, i assume you retrieve it as a stored item. That provokes.
The 5 step is diagonaly up/toward Kenji
Regarding the wand, there's a mistake from my part there. Or several ones; I didn't remember the CSW wand. I forgot about provoking. An I though the CLW was in the springloaded wraistsheet, but it's not. So,OUCHSeeing the dragon's mouth coming to her, Keera mutters a quick spell to become vaporous and insubstantial. But the dragon's bite proves too powerful for the spell and Blamia found some flesh to tear apart. Casting windy escape to obtain DR 10/magic against the bite. If allowed
Vassago Ilsidore |
well... honestly not trying to act cowardly... so here we go. GM, can I 5' step towards the room again and see Blemia or will it be a move action?
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Chyro |
I'd have to say a move action, considering it is 5ft elevation.
Vassago Ilsidore |
Oh, was hoping I could 5' step and do a power blast, but going to set it up for next round.
Vassago moves up the stairs as he hears the combat continue, pulling out his wand and tries to tap Spenser with it.
UMD check vs DC 20: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

@GM: Does it appear that Blemia has reach?
GM Chyro |
That is Keera's experience, yes.
Vassago administers healing, bringing Spenser back to 34/34.
------------
Blemia sees the healing happen, as wounds she had caused begin to fade.
"You dare hurt me?!"
Being hit by Spenser for another 21, Blemia becomes angrier.
"Feel my wrath!!"
Blemia goes full out.

Her first attack is aimed at Sele.
The bite is enough to make him pass out, after he reels from impact.
Stabilize roll please. You are at -4.
Her next attacks go against the adjacent healer, Keera.
Its first claw rends a mean wound on Keera, but she ducks to dodge the second.
Blemia growls in anger, and swings a wing at Keera, which she also dodges, but in the motion, Blemia swings her second wing against her as well, making a heavy impact.
As she regains her footing, the tail comes her way, and with a heavy blow, Keera passes out.
Stabilize roll please. You are at -8.
With wings beating, Blemia moves 5ft east.

One more question, if the dragon is up in the air, would being prone on the ground be enough to say that I am out of her reach?

GM Chyro |
If Sele woud still be standing, that means BLemia attacks him to her fullest.
3 blows for -45, bringing him to -8, and it leaves Keera standing.
Vassago, you'd be within reach still.
Sele the Thorn |
Sele uses Heros Defiance and a use of Lay on Hands

Tbh, i was quite worried Blemia would TPK. Yet with this sudden move Sele pulled off, that worry is gone.
Sele the Thorn |
Sele still has not been able to smite.. stupid loh and se both being swift actions
Vassago Ilsidore |
And double damage to evil dragons on the first smite bonus damage...!
Seeing both Sele and Keera both somehow standing after the brutal assault, Vassago summons all the water he can muster to drop the evil dragon!

GM Chyro |
Just as a fyi, gather power provokes.
Keera?
Vassago Ilsidore |
Sonufa... about the typing. Thanks bot :P
@GM: Gather Power does not provoke: it is a supernatural ability, which doesn't provoke unless the ability says otherwise, and nothing in the Gather Power text states that. However, I did type that without looking at the map and seeing that Blemia moved 5' closer to me for some strange reason... so yeah, going to risk the AoO for making the ranged attack. I can take 1 hit at least :p and all we can do is burn her down at this point.
Vassago Ilsidore |
Duh... can I switch that to be an Empowered kinetic blade and take a 5' step towards her? I wouldn't get the PBS bonus, but the rest should hold... and no provoking!
