I'll wait for Ahto or the DM before posting, but I'm curious: is there a Lv.2 spell that Barris can use to heal his broken hands? Or is it a matter of time?
In any case, VV will help the crippled priest a bit when decorum allows. I believe he needs a full hour of prayer to get his spells back.

The Vermilion Vixen |

In case the mask-off, mask-on seemed odd, that was VV/Addy having an "oh-s&%+" moment when the boss showed up. Without going into detail, VV is the only persona suited for the deputy job (as she currently understands it).

The Vermilion Vixen |

The Incredibles definitely inspired me... probably more than any other comic. I'm not drawing any caped heroines.
Also...
Is VV related to the Parr family? She looks pretty incredible!
...I can't help but think this can be rephrased into a pick-up line.

Addy Lane |

Sorry if Addy's coming off as a drama queen. I couldn't help but think Ahto's choice of the noose would elicit nearly opposite reactions from my two personas. VV felt the men who heard of her friend's death should experience the rope themselves, especially the archer who enjoyed it.
As VV held the rope, I imagined a raging internal conflict that no one would notice as VV remained perfectly calm, ignoring Addy screaming in the back of her mind.
I think I only narrated this briefly, once: {LINK}

No apology needed for role-playing and character development (for my two copper's worth).
The nice thing about play-by-post is the ability to show more of a character's nature in-game without slowing down the game itself.

I love it as well!
I do apologise if I’ve been a bit unsteady with my rate of posts in past weeks. My wife and I are in the final stretches of welcoming our baby boy to the family. Any day now....

Addy Lane |

Thanks. I've played my share of RPs with Addison Lane and once wrote a coffee-winning short story of her as a Huntress, but the Vixen is new and a perfect fit for a character who's into fashion. This is easily my favorite version of her.
I read a lot of criticism (on this site) about the vigilante class being silly since secret identities don't really apply to the PF universe, and the social persona just weakens the character. That just made me want to commit to playing the class. I figured the fix (to the perceived issue) is to take the class in a direction that's not Marvel/DC, and the weakness wouldn't be the social persona (lacking in relative combat ability), but the person's dependency on her vigilante persona.
@Wonky,
Congratulations in advance! Is this your first child? I'm a father of three daughters, so RP'ing a drama queen requires minimal effort on my imagination's part.

Huzzah! Wonderful news!
Don't worry about the game. Take care of what's really important, and we'll be here for you during the rare moments of peace.

The Vermilion Vixen |

I took the spoiler to not be Wonky only, but rather an OoC version of what Wonky says after "I know a lot about wyverns..."
That, and that big day that takes Wonky offline for a while could be any day, including yesterday! So I figured I'd just post.

![]() |

Frankly, I don't know how many women and children might currently be in the area. I'm sure some have passed through. Some may have come with families seeking to settle in the area, now that rumors of restored law are starting to spread, but I think that will ultimately be answered by DM Vayelan. Otherwise, I'd go ahead and reply to your comment and introduce Miss Vixen to her charges.

Fair enough. I actually formatted the spoiler so that either Wonky could recount the information herself, or the rest of the party could read it as though she were explaining it to them.

![]() |

No baby yet!
As far as the wyvern info goes, please assume that Wonky spit it all out for everyone.

@CL,
I'll wait for your reply.I suppose if VV simply heard the names, she'd expect two of the women are in need of protection. I believe my character would at least be mistaken in Kalima's case. Isn't Kalima a magic user?
I suppose VV would still want to meet her, and find out for herself whether Kalima wants to hide or fight. Maybe VV could ask Asham to escort her to the Lady. Asham will obviously fight alongside her fellow soldiers, but VV would still be interested in talking to her.

Vermilion Vixen |

I think at this point, VV would simply report her findings and try to find out the best way of taking down the wyvern. She doesn't know about the tanglefoot and would probably know nothing about catapults. As a Huntress' daughter, she probably thinks a bow is more accurate and she definitely would avoid any mechanical ranged weapon. (Technically, the class is proficient with a crossbow, but I'd prefer a comp bow as her ranged weapon.)
Once VV understands a tanglefoot bag is to be catapulted, she'll want to know how she can help. Any plan that involves somebody other than VV operating the catapult is a good plan.

The Vermilion Vixen |

About the Spoiler Part: VV's motivation is primarily to protect women. The soldier is straight but still a lady friend that Addy/VV will either continue to flirt with or blame herself for the death of, depending how the battle goes.
&
Unless VV agrees to a plan via RP...
Positioning: VV mainly wants to shoot and kick the wyvern as many times as possible. She'll want to be in a place where she can shoot but is not easily seen. (Ideal cover: something like when you hide in a bush, the leaves conceal you, but no leaf blocks your eyes so you can see perfectly.) However, she also wants to rush and attack the creature after the crash since her kicks hurt more than her arrows. So either ground level, or on a platform that's not so high VV would need to take fall damage. A DC10 Acro check where I take 1d6 for a fail is close enough.

The enlarge person extract/potion wouldn't work as a flung missile, just for clarity. It needs to be imbibed to be effective and by a willing consumer.

Addy Lane |

Addy will sleep minimal hours (6? 4? Whatever won't fatigue a fighter type) and wake up early (at least two hours before dawn). She will awaken as VV.
In fact, she will always sleep as Addy; wake as VV. (The class allows a choice of persona at wake-up time, but I prefer to establish a habit that is true to the character: VV never rests and only Addy dreams.)

The Vermilion Vixen |

VV never rests and only Addy dreams.
I guess that only explains the sleep-as-Addy part.
I wake-as-VV so I won't get my ass kicked if bandits show up while I'm still in bed.

![]() |

VV/Addy, I think the battle is occurring at dusk. We have been preparing throughout the day for it.

Vermilion Vixen |

Paval judges that the bandit army will likely strike at dawn's first light. This means you have roughly ten hours until the attack.
The afternoon light begins to fade
I think first light is that pre-dawn around 4:00 AM.
That would be ten hours from dusk, which is like now.
Well, I'll assume my character isn't confused (even if it turns out I am), and she certainly won't rest if no one else does. Her plan is to follow along with what the party wants, and to be awake 1-2 hours before the enemy's ETA.

![]() |

Sorry - it appears that I read things incorrectly.
This is the last call for the CLOAK OF RESISTANCE +1 that Wonky has and isn't using. I've offered this multiple times. If no one takes it, then Wonky will wear it, but she'd rather wear her workcoat.

The Vermilion Vixen |

Wow... the dice are rolling one extreme or the other! I think I have the only midrange roll.
So Ahto is most likely to see the attack coming, but last in initiative so he can't warn us!

![]() |

Question: Usually in a Surprise Round, you can take a Standard Action or a Move action, but not both. Can you take a Swift Action along with one of those actions as well?

The Vermilion Vixen |

I'm assuming hold action look like this...
BEFORE
• Wyvern
• Sams
• VV
• Wonky
• Ahto
AFTER
• Wyvern
• Sams
• Wonky
• VV
• Ahto
...so if Wonky drops the creature, I can run over and kick it, provided it falls within 30 feet. Or kick it twice if it falls within 5 feet. (Or not kick it if it falls on top of me!)

New baby was born 3 days ago. Mum and new peanut are both doing well. Sleep is coming sparingly; I do appreciate all y'alls patience. I'll get to posts, but I'll simply be slower about it.
Thanks!

Vermilion Vixen |

Congrats! In case you missed the question (y'know, 'cause lots on your mind), is this your first? In any case, slowed posting is totally understandable. Glad wife and baby are well! Enjoy this phase.

The Vermilion Vixen |

@ Ahto, I think you get a Round 1 turn in addition to the Surprise Round turn (which I believe you earned from the Perception Check).
Also, if VV was Lv.12, she wouldn't need a bow. She would throw something like... (Mar.21 Drawing of VV)

The Vermilion Vixen |

@DM,
About the space concern (in Ahto's OoC post)...
Is it possible to, with an acro check, run across Mega-Sams' back as he's making his grapple attempt, so VV can get on the other side? If so, I'll roll acro (with the understanding a fail has consequences, such as my 10 damage kick not landing).
I will roll this (if allowed), not just so Ahto can attack. VV is desperate to keep that wyvern away from Asham, and wants to place herself between the wyvern and Asham.
I almost rolled this this morning, but realized that while I find this physically possible, a GM call is in order because:
• the GM cannot read my mind
• my idea of possible-for-VV is questionable
(She is less worried about Wonky because Sams is shielding her, and her little dog too!)
Let me know!

I will say that the Vixen can pull off this maneuver without incurring an attack of opportunity, while also nailing the landing and delivering her kick in the process, with a DC 20 Acrobatics check.
If you fail by 1-2, you still land and make the kick, but the wyvern gets an attack of opportunity as you pass.
If you fail by 3-5, you land awkwardly on the other side and can't deliver your kick this round.

The Vermilion Vixen |

A note: my attacks do NOT include the flank bonus. I always assume the GM handles that part. Also, I was saving my 3/19 art for a crit. I can't get two nat.20s in one post, but two within 24 hours is the next best thing!
