Oh well, guess it's time to attempt to be socially competent, then...and not upset anybody. Not more than I unknowingly already may have by existing.
RPGGGM
I am sorry to report that thanks to a super busy work week, followed by a working weekend, and (in about an hour) a new work week, means I will not be posting today. Be back tomorrow.
Illthir Winlowe
Take care and don't burn yourself out. And don't catch any sickness either!
Alia of the Blade
Seconded. You've done a marvellous job of running this game for...almost a decade now. With a spotless record, I might add. If you need a little break, you earned it :)
So don't you worry or feel compelled to rush things. We're all here waiting for when your life normalizes.
Balzeros of the Narl
Agreed, especially on burn out! Honestly, it might just be better to call for a one week break so that you don't worry/think about the game. At least for me, the worry/stressing over something is what leads to burning out. As others have said, just get life sorted and come back to running this when you have the time! :)

Alright. I should be back (relatively) soon (given the grand breadth of time since the Big Bang) with a post in (I'm gonna hedge my bets, and say) 24 hours.
Fergus Bouldershoulder Ironmug
Sorry all. I lost access to the internet at my residence (and I have no cell signal where I stay either) so have been unable to get any posts in on any of my games as the job I've been working is physical labor. I'm hoping to have one of the above problems fixed sometime by August, visiting my folks atm so managed to get some time and access to post an update. Sorry for the sudden disappearance.
RPGGGM
I can relate. ;)

Just leaving that here:
Silver dragons laid their eggs in a bed of snow.[citation needed] A newly hatched silver wyrmling had scales of a bluish gray, which changed to silver over time.[4] Silver wyrmlings were intelligent, kind, extremely curious, and adorable.[citation needed]
As they matured, many silver dragons left their clans for long periods of time to live among nondragons. They tended to live for many years with the same group of humans or elves, having grown attached to them. As members of the family died, the silver dragon, grieved by the loss, often chose to stay with the family, remaining a true and loyal friend and champion through many generations. If the dragon felt comfortable enough around these nondragons, it might even decide to reveal its true self.
It is one possibility I considered. No idea about Argents current goals or motivations, but possibly he is aware she is currently save with us...she could be a young silver (pronounced "S-Ilvah") doing their "live for years with some humans and elves without revealing their true nature" thing. Just a bit clumsy because she's early, but go figure, maybe Daddy told her not to tell people about her true nature.
Just to add another point of speculation. I think the chaining up was not necessarily arranged by the trolls, considering they attacked on sight and could not have expected to lure someone there. Argent suggested he had a plan so it may have been him. That is, I believe she is something more than meets the eye - but wether a "stolen witchling", a "dragon toddler", or some other shapeshifter, I don't think we'll need to expect trouble coming from her. (I do appreciate Serena sticking around for safety, but I'd rather expect trouble coming FOR her at some point.)
Durgan Far-Walker
I think you are right in that trouble is more likely to come for her than to come from her.
It may be a long while until we figure this mystery out, especially if it is in fact Argentov's plan. I did my best to get one more piece of information on Argentov but it was not to be.
Balzeros of the Narl
On the topic of getting the word out of a potential troll invasion, Balzeros can prepare a bunch of Animal Messengers to send out to various locations. He'd need to know some details about where to send them, but I think it would be a good possibility!
Illthir Winlowe
Illthir can cast clarion call and yell really loud!
...That probably won't help though.
But something from Spell Kenning might?
Durgan Far-Walker
The issue with Animal Messenger or Whispering Wind or things like that is getting the recipient to believe the information. We don't have a lot of political capital in Brevoy.
Also, we don't really know enough about what is going on to raise a general alarm. Causing a panic that then turns into nothing when the "large scouting party" fades away is not going to help us win support. We are unfortunately quite in the dark here.
I suppose pawning the problem off on Eldiocesan is the best option. If he can be trusted to investigate, and take action if the trolls are genuinely dangerous, then that is a good solution.
Illthir Winlowe
An accurate summary of the situation I feel. And if we're really lucky Brevoy will have this troll problem on their own while we're down south :P
Zokon Santyev
Yah we not have too much clout at the moment that we know of. If we do it will most likely be as tools.
Alia of the Blade
Aye. More or less. I don't see it as "pawning off the problem" - I would still notify local authorities in some way - not to raise a panic but to have them investigate/step up patrols...just in case.
Eldiocesan did help us out in the past - telling him was more in hopes of learning more about what was going on in case he WAS here because of that - less as a means of "no longer our problem"(while of course it's also true that we hold no authority here...any action could be seen as meddling, or be used against us by politic spin doctors - (e.g. if we stop trolls from a raid, they could claim we antagonized them in the first place))
So yeah, my intent was slightly different, but I'm not going to complain about the outcome.

I've returned to work today! The first week back is always a doozy, apologies in advance if my posting is sub-par or I miss a day!
Fergus Bouldershoulder Ironmug
sorry all, I have been busy, and have been on a bachelor party trip with my longtime friend this week. So will likely be scarce this week as well.
RPGGGM
On the heels of all that, I'm going in for out-patient surgery tomorrow so we'll see. I'll probably will have more time to post for the few days following. ;)
Balzeros of the Narl
Good luck GM! :)
Illthir Winlowe
Echoing the good luck :)
Zokon Santyev
Good luck..
Alia of the Blade
Best of luck!
(And here's hoping the "outpatient" part is because it's only a minor thing that needs fixing, and not a financial decision)

NOT DEAD! (And back at home.)
I had a relatively painless hernia, of the sort that can eventually result in gangrene via strangulated blood flow.
After it was diagnosed by a surgeon, I took the first surgical date I could get today to get it fixed (basically they shove your intestine back in place and put in a bit of screen door screen to make sure it doesn't fall out of place again).
Using the Ghostbusters International RPG by West End Games' damage table my stomach now feels like it took a "Good Amount of Hit".
The doctors suggest I not drive myself anywhere for a week, hence no work until at least the 31st. :D
Ow. That laughy-smiley face (and the humorous link above) hurt. Maybe I'll stick to more-somber winky faces for a day or two. ;)
All work and no game makes Matt a sad boy, so I imagine that I will be happily posting more starting tomorrow.
Balzeros of the Narl
Yay! :D Glad to hear it GM!
Illthir Winlowe
I'm glad to hear that! I hope the healing goes well :)
Zokon Santyev
Good to hear, slightly mechanical man.

wow.. be safe and don't forget your red shoes?

Yeah good luck! Hope you won't need it
Alia of the Blade
I would like to take a moment to level after this battle :P
I had omitted that, hoping we'll be having some downtime after the Staglord, then hoped we'll be having some down time after a chill family visit. Then...postponed some more.
Long story short, I never leveled to level 5 because I was waiting for retraining. But since we seem to be smack in the middle of some new sub-plot, I'd like to catch up.
(That just as forewarning and explanation on why I'll be leveling unprompted after we dealt with the bear(here's hoping).
RPGGGM
That shouldn't be a logistical problem. The place you are heading to is a "mid-size town" size.
Alia of the Blade
Hehe, not regarding the logistics. We've been to larger towns previously, it's more a matter of time. I'd like at least a month or so for that.
So yeah, just regular level up, with original build - not retraining just yet.
I'll wait for a proper downtime for that, I am sure one will come eventually. (I was told that Kingmaker runs over several years, and sometimes has several months of downtime. Amusing since so far we were perpetually travelling, under time pressure, and in action :) (as in, either of the three, not always all at the same time))
Alia of the Blade
Hey, no letting the bear run off! I already planned to make a great winter coat from that - maybe two, considering the size...a couple of gloves as well, maybe.
I mean, I am supposed to do more household stuff - making cave bear clothing should qualify!
On that note, it would be great if you could stick to piercing and bludgeoning weaponry. Wouldn't want any slashes across parts of prime fur.
(Also, properly prepared, Bear is edible...we'll have fine Stew for a couple days.)
Alia of the Blade
All good :)
Just saying beyond the elimination of a threat, I already very much planned to start crafting a nice Overcoat for Zokon.
I know we do have winter clothing, but I think it's some nice flavor.
(Especially if my Leatherworking ends up shoddy and I end up making a metallic imitation from Living Metal at a later time.)
Durgan Far-Walker
Durgan's Breadth of Experience feat doesn't help with Craft (Leatherworking), but it does help with Profession (Tanner) which might be of some use in the process. And you can use his Traveler's Any-Tool for any Craft checks you need to make.
And yes, he can do Profession (Chef) to make Bear Stew and alleviate Illthir's long-standing grumbling about the campfire cooking.
Zokon Santyev
I like the scruples angle, tis good gaming to include our characters stuff.
Illthir Winlowe
Illthir would think like this - the bear would surely eat me if I was blind!
On the other hand she doesn't really plan on hanging around and wouldn't mind if the bear made itself scarce instead of giving them extra work.
(Also OOC a little bit of Durgan's reasoning in there. Though a cooking scene wouldn't go amiss!)
Durgan Far-Walker
The bear does get a save at the end of each turn to shake off the Glitterdust, right? Not sure it got that last round.
If it gets its sight back and keeps attacking, then Durgan will attack. Otherwise he will just do defense. Strictly a matter of personal preference, you all do you.
Alia of the Blade
I think we are good - I think you can stick to defense even if it regains its sight, maybe ready to break a grapple or something.
I totally get where you are coming from, and I agree that scruples or character preference add to it all - my first thought was to try and scare it off as well, but then I figured if we're spending an arc in the lands of eternal winter, some badass fur coat would be suitable for Zo and decided to reverse the prey/hunter roles.
So unless things go massively downhill, we should have things covered :)
(although some help with tanning would certainly be appreciated when we get there).
Illthir Winlowe
I guess victory is indeed sweet. Anyone wanna fight a bunch of angry bees? No? :P
Illthir Winlowe
Someone is a natural! I see many fur rugs in our future :P
