M-12/12 S-10/10 I-23/23 Guarded Nano who Wields Power With Precision

Center realized that the encroaching wall was a serious threat, but knew that the Mummy presented a more immediate threat. Also, once Center set his mind to solving a problem, he tended to see the task through to completion. The nano reached back out with his mental energies, attempting to unravel the mind of the ancient evil.

Mental Onslaught with Effort to Hit - Reducing Int Pool to (7)

Swift Glaive Who Fights With Panache

Well, at least my defense rolls have been doing well.

After getting too caught up in the pressure of the situation, Rel forced himself to calm down. Reciting an old battle mantra that always helped him focus, he instead made regular well aimed strikes, compensating for his swordstaff's bent blade by favouring shallow slashes over powerful stabs.

Speed attack with Effort to hit. Damage is 7 with thrust. Total cost is 3 speed (11 -> 8)

hit:
The more measured approach paid off, and through a series of strikes Rel began to make progress on severing the connective tissues that held the ancient kings joints together.

miss:
In the end, no matter how many times Rel repeated the mantra he couldn't get his heart rate down. The ancient corpse that just wouldn't die. The walls closing in. Bedivere's recent death. The pressure was simply just too much for him to achieve a focused state.

Leman was tired. Sick. Frustrated. This whole situation was butts. Looked around the room for an exit of any sort. He rant towards the coffin, drawing his verred as he went. He screamed as he went, drawing the mummies attention as best as he could, and readied himself for the mummies blow. Using the Verred for defense only. I'm not sure if this helps but I am looking at the coffin specifically. Just if there are any obvious levers or light shining behind it.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 18

rolls:

Rel might attack, effort to hit, D 5 (15): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, pass
Center onslaught, effort to hit, D 5 (15): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6, fail
Rel speed defense, mummy slow, D 5 (15): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19, pass

Swift Glaive Who Fights With Panache

The speed I spent on effort dosen't seem to have been subtracted from last round.

Rel continued with his methodical attack, slowly speeding up as he found his rhythm. He twirled out of the way of another clumsy blow before ducking in for another series of quick hacks.

Continue attacking spending speed effort to hit. Damage is 7 with thrust. total cost after edge is 3 speed (8 -> 5). Attack flourish continues.

Succeed:
The heavy blade feel hard upon the skeletal legs of the anicent king. Shards of bone dully clattered to the floor.

fail:
Rel was sweating bullets. His strikes where on target but no longer had the force to bite into the ancient bone. He relented, breathing hard.

Talking OOC because I'm not sure Rel even plausibly knows what cyphers the others have, and any plan we plausibly implement in the given time frame should probably be roleplayed as a stroke of genius improvisation rather than a calm and measured discussion made while the walls close in.

The best I have so far is this: Have someone inject themselves with Centre's blood magnet and hope that it attracts rather than repels metal. Then, have them bleed a hopefully non-fatal amount of blood which is mixed with whatever water the party is carrying. Centre's Anchor stone is then submerged in the magnetic blood water and becomes a 500 pound highly magnetic boulder. Meanwhile, Leman's permanent handle is bonded to the sarcophagus, and one end of his magnetic winch is wrapped around the handle a few times. The other half is magnetically connected to the swollen blood-boulder and then the winch is activated, pulling both the boulder and the sarcophagus towards each other with tremendous force.

There's a few obvious points of failure in the plan, so I'm open to better options. If the person's blood ends up repelling metal we've pretty much put the winch out of commission. The bloodletting portion might be dangerous. And if we run out of room between the boulder and the sarcophagus we'll be worse off than if we didn't activate the boulder.

You can assume that you all have discussed and know what cyphers the others have.

Also I will assume that two people on a task will provide assets. There's something about doing tasks in a collaborative manner.

I agree with Rel. This sounds like a solid plan to me.

Center opens his bag to allow Rel access to his cyphers. Trusting his safety to the glaive.

Center collapses in the hallway a few yards down from the entrance, catching his breathe before continuing on.

Of all my games, this is one of the easiest to commit to and is still good fun. With the extra Esoteries from being T2.5 combat will be less copy&paste.

XP Log:

1.25 - 5-29-16 Spend 4 xp for Intellect Edge +1 (2)
1.5 - Gain Skill - Esotery: Onslaught
1.75 - Gain 6 to Pools - 2 to each
2.0 - Effort +1 (2)
Tier 2 - New Esotery: Stasis
2.25 - Intellect Edge +1 (3)
2.5 New Esotery: Speed Recovery

yeah, I figured it is a good opportunity for you guys to try out some cool powers and me to try out some more powerful enemies. :)

Also, feel free to change your PCs entirely if desired.

Please give me some feedback on the kind of adventure you'd like to play and I'll try to find one.

After thinking it over, I don't think I'll stick around for the next mission. It was great fun and it's painful to miss out on the cooler tier 2.5 combat, but I have some friends in the flesh world that have expressed interest in a numenera game and I don't want to spread my time too thinly if I'm going to be GMing again.

Best of luck for a second round, though!

rel, thank you for your honesty. We all know where our time is best spent and it's no fun to commit to something and have others wait around for you.

With that, I think I will temporarily close this game then since it makes little sense to go on with just two people. If we ever do get a some critical mass (4+ players), I can always resurrect it.

Thanks for the good times.

Last minute thoughts before this goes inactive in a couple of days...
