Onslaught with Effort to Hit (what is the difficulty of the task to hit the dino? 3 or 4? If it is 2, then I use Effort for damage instead)- subtract three from Int pool bringing total to 15
The 'dino' is a level 5 creature but somewhat easier to hit (level 4) due to its size and slow pace.
I'll assume your effort is going to spend trying to hit it and NOT for extra damage.
Game on!

Yes, in that case I will definitely use it to hit. Do we think we want to make a stand here guys to try to kill the dino or should we duck into the cave where it (maybe) can't follow?
Rel The Third
If Rel can get loose, I'm all for running into the entrance and leaving the dino behind.
Might defense against dino.
1d20 ⇒ 19
Rel's blade struck the crown of the beast's skull with an odd metallic ring, reverberating off some vital piece of machinery just below the skin. Whatever it was, the blow caused the monster to recoil and Rel was finally able to wrench himself free.
The landing was hard, but in a flash he was up and dashing towards the entrance. Diving in, he braced himself for any attempt by the beast to follow.
Moving Rel an immediate distance to 'safety' in the entrance, and doing a full defense in case it tries to reach in or bring down the enterance.

Heal Rel: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Heal Bedivere: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Center urged his teammates to take some time to recover, Center used makeshift bandages to do what he could for them. After bandaging each wound, he painted over the cloth with a green paint from his bag. "It will help" he assured them, believing that healing is mostly a function of the mind. Center probingly asked of his teammates "What brings you to this cave? I seek to test the strength of my mind against foes and to find powerful numenera."
He then looked around the cave mouth a bit for any storage spaces or numenera (cyphers) that may have been forgotten by time in the nooks and crannies of the natural rock. A guy can hope!

"What brings you to this cave? I seek to test the strength of my mind against foes and to find powerful numenera."
With some difficulty Rel was able to maintain his usual sarcastic tone despite his wounds.
"Oh, you know. The usual. Fantastic treasure, epic quest, yada yada yada. Everything that usually has me getting thrashed about by some monstrosity or another. You're welcome to tag along for a fair share, but if we come across any damsels in distress you should know that I called dibs."
Sitting down hard, Rel's eyelids felt heavy. That had been a whole lot of running and wrassling, and he was bushed.
Rel's in pretty rough shape. Unless there's something about the quest that's particularly urgent he should probably use both his recovery rolls for a total of eleven hours of rest, since this seems like a safe-ish area. Even if more small men come back it seems like they wouldn't set foot inside.
recovery 1: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
recovery 2: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Putting it all into Might, including anything I get from Center's healing rolls. I'm not sure if healing is meant to be done by naming a target and rolling against that difficulty, or by just rolling and healing as much as you get.
Bedivere Longclaw
"Was just passing by and saw a glorious battle to be had!" Bedivere said as he was laying on the floor of the cave. "Now is the time for rest though, the time for talk comes after." as he let his eyes close.
Was so occupied with the other campaign, forgot about this one! Sorry!
1hr Rest: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
All to might.
Fabian Benavente
Yes, I think the heal check is done by setting a target and then rolling for it to see if you make it. And like all rolls, where the target is set by the player, I will do the rolling. Just to keep you people honest. :)
But I will allow for passing results to both of Center's checks (2 points each for Rel and Bedivere).

Rel sighed as the beetles chattered and skittered forward. "It's going to be one of those days, isn't it?
Shrugging, he grabbed one of his daggers, twirled it around his hand and let it fly. He didn't expect much to come of it, but it would help to now how tough these things were. Plus, you never know when an animal would simply run away at the first sign of resistance for once.
Are there penalties for lighting in this cave? If it was perfect darkness inside the cave I imagine we would have had to rig up a solution before now, but if there's glow worms or something that make it dim I suppose we'll just have to get by.
Speed attack with thrown dagger. Light weapon. Attack Flourish activated.

Center had been deep in his thoughts as they walked through the long cave. He carried a lit torch from his pack, preferring to have a light source that he could depend on than the occasional dim light offered by lingering numenera or luminescent creatures.
He only noticed that they rock appeared to be opening up into a larger chamber when his companions stopped suddenly ahead of him. He quickly scanned the field of battle and knew that he wanted to stay away from those mandibles.
Center stood his ground and summoned the power within him. Seeing Rel throw a knife, Center decided to release a piercing Onslaught at the same creature. He knew that the more of them that attacked the same beast, the harder it would be for the beast to avoid the attacks. (The Old One-Two-Three, pg.101)

Center retreated to the cave mouth and made another onslaught attack, Effort to Damage (int pool 15) against the closer beast.
I know they reduce armor by 1 - think that applies to Ward as well? Nothing to say that it doesn't but I am thinking I have 0 armor, but I have an effect that gives me +1 armor. If the attack reduces my armor by 1 - I assume armor can't go negative so I would still have 0 armor but +1 from Ward. I am saying this not to be 'difficult' but because I think these rules discussions are the purpose of this thread. yes?

Like always, any type of comment is welcomed so have no fear for I will never censor anyone. :)
The slicer beetle supposedly destroy armor (all of it). I changed it so it slowly destroy armor (1 point at a time).
However, I think it's meant to only work on physical armor (armor worn) and not force fields like I envision the power ward to be. So Center should be fine. We'll see about Bedivere and Rel...

Unsatisfied with the inaccuracy of his dagger, Rel drew his sword-staff and prepared a mighty slice on the beetle attacking Center.
Might attack with sword-staff. Base damage 6 with +1 from Thrust for total of 7. Attack flourish continues

"We have to blast through this armor!"
Rel paused. "... or do we? This littler one might be just small enough...
Rushing forward, Rel dodged to the side, planted the butt of his sword-staff on the rocks below the beetle and lifted with all his might.
Attempting to lift the beetle just enough to either disrupt its defenses or expose a less armoured underside for the others to hit. Not following any explicit action here, just trying to think outside of the box. Since the corebook defines an 'attack' as "An attack is anything that you do to someone that they don’t want you to do." this might technically be considered an attack, in which case Attack Flourish is triggered.
Might: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Rel The Third
Rel was in a bit of a panic after seeing the nano pinned. If he was going to lift again and hold it he was going to need to do something about the foul thing's flailing legs.
Might attack on smaller beetle with sword staff. Attack Flourish continues.

I'll allow that to work but, since you are 'under the beetle', it will only work for one beetle (the one on top of you) this round.
Fair?
Rel The Third
Seeing that his companions were in dire straights, Rel made started making a lot of noise in attempt to draw the beetles towards himself next time they scuttled forward. He swished his sword-staff back and forth, using it to catch the dim flickering light and direct it and the beetles.
Attempting to draw the attacks of the beetles to ensure that we keep as many hale adventurers as we can for as long as possible. In the "cooperative" actions section of the corebook it seems to indicate that drawing the attack is done as a part of defensive actions rather than my action for the round, so that being the case Rel will be in full defense mode for a 1 step advantage on defense for the first attack anyways.

Cyphers for Leman
table: 1d20 ⇒ 10, List C
cypher: 1d100 ⇒ 77
Magnetic Winch
Level: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Usable: Small metal box
Effect: When activated, this metal box breaks into two halves joined by a very strong and thin metal cable, which can be extended up to 120 feet (37 m). When a second switch is pressed, the boxes each become very strong magnets. When a third switch is pressed, the cable is retracted by a motor that is powerful enough to pull 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of dead weight until the two boxes are joined again.
table: 1d20 ⇒ 14, List D

Permanent Handle
Level: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Usable: Handle-shaped metal and synth piece
Effect: When activated, this device permanently bonds (on a molecular level)
to whatever it touches, giving that object a handle. It inflicts damage equal to the cypher level to any living creature it bonds to.
Customize and add them to your PC sheet.

Knowing that his glove would be running out of power at any moment, Center took two steps East, passing Rel and gesturing towards the nearest Bug(1). He hoped that using the full power of the glove to send the beetle into the cave wall would at least crack the carapace, or maybe even end the bug's life.

As the bug skittered towards the wall, Center glanced over to see the newcomer charge recklessly at the remaining killer bug. He was shocked to find that not only was there a new human in the cave, but a new bug as well!

I hadn't noticed the and was italicized, which does make it sound the way you described it. :D

Center was happy to see that these bugs could be killed. It renewed his will to fight. He began focusing on the newest bug, it was smaller - like the one that had just fallen to Rel's blow. He prepared his onslaught attack with Effort to Damage (Int 12) and released it as soon as the bug stopped moving, only then noticing that the bug was standing over the body of his short-term traveling companion. Center mumbled a few words to honor the fallen.
Rel The Third
Overcome with grief at the loss of his companion, Rel charged at the nearest foe, his flailing his blade wildly with tears in his eyes.

Cursing at how he had lost control of himself, Rel let the sword staff lie where it fell and drew his broadsword.
He was reasonably confidant that Center could handle the injured beetle, but he wasn't willing to leave another companion alone while threatened by beasts. Springing back into the action, he brought his broadsword up in a wide arc...
Attack with broadsword on beetle 3, if still alive. Base damage is 4, increased to 5 with Thrust. Attack flourish is active but Leman is too far away to benefit.
