Proteros reporting for duty.
You don't show up as a player. (?)
You can post in the gameplay thread and then delete the post. If you do that, then the campaign will appear in your homepage. If you 'favorite' your homepage, it's the best way to determine if a new post has been added to whatever game you are playing.
Just waiting on Jetto's decision. I have the start of the 'mini-game' all ready to go. It would actually make a cool campaign on its own but we'll strip it down to mechanics.

Bedivere Longclaw |

Seeing the scouts rapidly approaching, Bedivere checks to see if any have turned to warn their leaders."Looks as if we've been spotted! Make sure none get away!"
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Both outcomes end with me firing a bolt so I will only make 1 roll and I would like to use an effort on it.

Nepo Toran |

Nepo was ahead of the main column scouting out the terrain. Noting the enemy patrol he quickly went to ground, with a well practiced mental urging his body took on an illusory pattern mimicking the grass texture and patterns.
Stealth Roll: 1d20 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 3 = 26 +3 for training and +3 for assest(?)

Fabian Benavente |

We are in initiative so only those that rolled higher than the opponents(in this case only Bedivere) can act.
Therefore, Nepo and Protreros will have to wait until the opponents act.
I'll send an update later today and you can just 'repeat' these actions (just let me know after you read the 'updating

Nepo here!
Can i get a better description of my awesome sounding cyphers?
Magnetic Attack Drill
Usable: Small sphere with a thick screw protrusionEffect: The user throws this cypher at a target within short range, and it drills into the target for one round, inflicting damage equal to the cypher level. If the target is made of metal or wearing metal (such as armor), the difficulty of the attack is decreased by one step.
Monoblade
Internal: Injection into fingertip
Wearable: Glove
Usable: Device similar to hilt
Effect: Produces a 6-inch (15 cm) blade that's the same level as the cypher. The blade cuts through any material of a level lower than its own. If used as a weapon, it is a light weapon that ignores Armor of a level lower than its own. The blade lasts for ten minutes.

You've all read this...
I will out for a few days on vacation with very limited internet access. My last post will be tomorrow morning and I won't be back and posting until late Monday night (April 4th).
I will send out another turn recap tonight so that you can all post for it. That way I can come back and have all the posts ready for another turn recap.

"At least we have some time before they come"
With merely a thought, Proteros reaches to the nanites around them, willliung them to surround and protect him.
OOC: Initiating Resonance field. Cost 1-1 IP

Fabian Benavente |

Ok, so I have actions for Bedivere and Protreros.
I can assume that Nepo will repeat his out-of-turn action posted earlier.
What about Agia's player? For which I don;t even have a name.
I think Agia is not aware that we started. I'll post in the other game and wait for some sort of acknowledgement form her before moving this.
Hang on tight.

Rel The Third |

Yep, somehow missed that we had started this one. Thanks for the heads up.
"Hey shortstuff! Catch!"
Jumping into the air Rel did a full turn as he hurled one of his throwing daggers at the approaching scouts. Landing exactly where he had started, he fastidiously checked his own footwork as he began drawing his next dagger.
Speed attack against scout one if it's still alive, scout two if scout one is down. -1 difficulty level from light weapon.
Speed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Attack flourish means all other characters receive a +1 bonus on their next roll. Just the number +1, not to be confused with +1 level.

Nepo Toran |

Springing from the tall grass Nepo leaps onto the back of the gleaming creature and takes hold of the smaller man.effort, +1, asset:from hiding I couldn't remember but I thought we said you (fabian) would roll the effort rolls.
I just couldn't doom myself to this fate over just a mundane failure... I'll understand if you were to make it the results of a normal failure... sniffle....

Rel The Third |

Does switching weapons take an action? I couldn't find any specific rules dealing with it, but if you decide it does then that's Rel's turn for this round.
Sighing, Rel took his hand off his next dagger. These scouts were clearly bigger game than he thought. He reached behind him and gripped the swordstaff in its thong along his back. He twirled it around one of his arms, stopped it with the point facing the nearest scout, and lept forward while thrusting it towards the rider.
Might attack with Sword-Staff (Heavy, 6 damage), using Thrust (+1 damage). Cost is 1 might point, reduced to 0 by edge.
Might: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Attack Flourish is ongoing as long as I am able to attack this round.

Fabian Benavente |

oooo... my inability is movement-related tasks... uhoh I just reread...maybe that would be applied to a tackle?
Yeah, I will probably take that into account when I roll. And yes, I roll all the dice that involve effort; you just post a success and a failure for them and you'll see the results in the turn recap.
I hope you all realize that we lost Protreros at least for the short term.
I will continue with the three of you unless you tell me otherwise.
@Agia/Rel: did you somehow turn off the 'private messaging' feature of the boards?
Switching weapons is not a separate action; it's part of attacking.
Does flourish affect your own rolls?
Questions?
Game on!

Agia The Clanless |

@Agia/Rel: did you somehow turn off the 'private messaging' feature of the boards?
Apparently I did. There was a box I needed to check in my account management to turn it on. It was hidden among a bunch of boxes about receiving Paizo marketing emails, so it's possible I just turned them all off without looking to closely while setting up my account. It should work now.
Does flourish affect your own rolls?
I don't think so. The exact phrasing of the power is : "With your attack, you add stylish moves, entertaining quips, or a certain “something” that entertains or impresses others. Choose any number of creatures within short range who can see you; each of them gains a +1 bonus to its next die roll. Enabler."
In the mechanical part of the description it specifies that it only affects creatures that can see me and I don't think it makes sense for me to be "seeing" myself. Furthermore, I think the best indicator of the intent behind the power is that in the flavour portion of the description it specifies that the move "entertains or impresses others", so despite the phrasing of the actual mechanic I don't think I'd get a bonus even if I was fighting in front of a giant mirrored surface. :P

Nepo take down, untrained, hiding, effort, flourish, D 3 (9): 1d20 - 3 + 3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) - 3 + 3 + 3 + 1 = 7, miss

Rel The Third |

Twisting against the mount's sharp teeth, Rel struggled uselessly to get free. The monstrous reptile's jaw was firmly latched on. He leveled a blow with a mailed fist at the creature's throat, hoping to force it to let go...
Might roll to break free.
Might: 1d20 ⇒ 5 . Dang. I assume it wasn't a level 1 grip.
but his blows pummeled the heavily muscled neck to no avail. He just simply didn't have enough leverage to break himself free. The beast reared up, raking him with vicious talons for his trouble.
Takes 4 Might damage (6 minus medium armour).
Other PCs: Assuming this bite works like a grapple (such as those that Chirogs do on corebook page 235), hitting this dino should be up to two steps easier for anyone who wants to come to Rel's aid. It might be a good time to get value out of using effort for damage while a hit is considerably more likely.

The might defense is a 'free' (reflexive) action so you still have your action to perform for this round.
BTW, I forgot to mention that the dinos attack/defend as level 4 NPCs (the scouts as level 3 NPCs).
I'm Ok with someone who is 'grappling' being easier to hit so a two-step advantage would be reasonable.

Good to know, thanks.
Rel glanced up at the rider. The teeth in his shoulder demanded that he deal with the mount, but it would be foolhardy to allow the scout time to land a killing blow while he was otherwise occupied. Through gritted teeth, he hissed "You think you're pretty clever, don't you?"
In a flash the bladespear passed between his hands so that he could thrust with his free shoulder, and he reached forward to dig the blade into the rider's thigh.
Might attack at scout 3 using Effort to lower difficulty. Total Might spent is 2 after Edge. Bladespear's base damage is 6. Attack flourish continues.

Fabian Benavente |

My apologies, what I meant is that I think that this excursion has served it's purpose as for displaying the pace that the combat would be in, But if everybody wishes to continue, I will not leave the party for dead.
It wasn't to see the pace of combat, not for me anyways. I know what that pace is as long as players comply with their one-post-a-day.
Ahem... Nepo? :)
I want to see how you guys use effort, recovery rolls, and really to get a sense of balance of what is a 'challenging', 'hard', 'very hard' encounter for a party of four (now three) tier 1 PCs.
BTW, thanks for writing in your bonuses, points spent, etc. when you post your actions. These help me a lot as I become more familiar with the game.
I'll give a few more hours for Nepo to post and then move this along.

Rel The Third |

Redoubling his efforts, Rel stabbed his bladespear in the ground and gripped the beast's jaws with both hands.
Might roll to break mount's bite grip using Effort to lower difficulty. Total Might spent is 2 after Edge.
Regaining his composure for a moment, Rel once again reached for one of his trusty daggers. If the vulnerable spots were out of reach, he'd just have to land the perfect shot. A few seconds later, the beast briefly hesitated and Rel took advantage of the moment's respite to aim his dagger straight at the eyeslot of the scout's primitive helmet.
Speed attack with Throwing Dagger against Scout three, using Effort to increase damage. Total Speed spent is 2 after Edge. Base damage of Throwing knife is 2, increased to 5 with effort. Light weapon decreases difficulty by one level. Attack Flourish continues.

Nepo Toran |

Nepo rolls past the flailing automaton and its rider ending up behind the third scout. He leaps forward striking out at the rider.
using an effort to damage on this roll.

Bedivere Longclaw |

Winding his slash back, Bedivere slashes at the Scout once more. "I hope this is not the best your kind has to offer, the only worthy opponent is the mount!"
Damage +1, Difficulty -1 step

Rel The Third |

"Thanks for the assist, Nepo" Rel shouted over the fray.
Exhausted from his struggle with the reptilian mount, Rel drew back to a safer distance, picking up his planted sword-staff on the way. Assuming a defensive posture, he watched carefully for an opening and took a moment to catch his breath.
Single action recovery roll.
Recovery: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Finally a decent roll, haha. All points into Might, new total 12/16

Bedivere Longclaw |

I'm still pretty healthy, so Might as well keep swinging.
Round 6
Stabilizing himself, Bedivere look towards the other two. " It seems like we may have bitten off more than we can chew! Nothing to do but to keep slashing!" He makes another swing, in attempt of finally bringing down the remaining rider before him. "Maybe if we kill the riders, the mounts will flee!"
Might: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Damage +1, Diff -1 step

Nepo Toran |
