New character, dotting as well. It seems as though a battle is about to commence—would our characters be familiar with the others from before, or newcomers who burst out of the bushes in the not-too-distant future?

Out of the edge of the trees emerges a small green and brown creature. As it gets closer you realize it is a goblin covered in rags and scars and chewing on a rather large log in its oversized maw. And what a maw it is! Lined with a row of sharp teeth and powerful jaws, it gets set to work on the stick in its mouth, grinding it to a pulp.
Then it speaks around a mouthful of wood.
Whats up doc?

Introducing Moneez, green goblin and eater of everything.
Reading up a bit on the gameplay thread, we appear to be in a tunnel, trying to prevent the next Planet of the Bugs. Any idea on how you want us to enter?
Well for now, just dotting and introductions :)

Yeah, if we continue where we left off, it may be interesting 'cause the guy who was actually talking with the ankhegs is now the DM.

Also, I've decided that Schwartz should clearly speak with an accent now. Because.

Okay, reading back a bit farther, it appears that stealth might be important in this Ankheg lair.

If there is, for instance, another entrance, it seems as though Leonardo Silvertail—wereleopard cleric, hunter, and absolute master of stealth—might have come here as well, stalking the creatures if they're evil or dangerous..

Having the new members join the party later is also totally reasonable. But in case it makes sense from a GM perspective to have this fellow lurking in wait somewhere, I'll roll a few stealth-related checks now.

Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 To generally observe the situation

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 To study the newcomers, if he spots them

Disguise: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27 To appear human

So i figure Moneez is completely finished except for 1 last trait and 1000 extra gold. The last trait is most likely +x to survival, and in that vein i found 1 that seems.... A little powerful, so i take it to the group. Survivalist gives +5 to survival. As a trait. If ok, ill use it, if not ill pick something else :)
also to any spellcasters, Moneez caneat magic so if anyone wants to pair up with me, im sure we can create some rather interesting hijinks ^_^

To the new players: we seem to all be within one alignment step of Chaotic Neutral, which makes me think that perhaps at least some of us were traveling together as a party for some previous reason—perhaps we also heard of the threat the Ankhegs posed, but as a rather monstrous band of fellows decided that instead of talking to the guards about it we'd decided to investigate on our own, and are currently tracking them through the woods to their lair.

Just a thought—sorry if I've been posting too much.

I'm fine with that, but it really depends on how we appear in this scene. Ilithid and drow working together for mutual gain and goblin pet fit together pretty easily. Not sure about the wereleopard. Perhaps a hireling or some kind of cohort.

I've been talking with Moneez about backstory and thought that since his character behaves somewhat like a kitten, biting and scratching everything he sees, Leonardo may have found him in the woods and trained him as a warrior/traveling companion in the hopes that he will one day "grow up" into a mature and responsible individual.

Meanwhile, as a cleric of Bast, the wereleopard's religious oaths involve defending the weak, fighting against tyranny, and rescuing lost children. But he's also strange and chaotic enough to try and see the good in people, regardless of how bizarre their species is, which means that he might be far more willing to travel with a lava gnome, drow and goblin than any other divine healer out there would be.

I am going to assume that for now I don't have to worry as much about ankhegs finding me/keeping up with Aleumoth who may or may not be here talking to the ankhegs, or Schwartz would never come out of hiding.

A strange, slender leopard-man steps out of the shadows, skulking on all fours. An excited-looking goblin sits above his shoulders on a strangely-crafted saddle.

The leopard-man widens his eyes, puts a finger to his lips, then reaches into his pocket and retrieves a small wooden board. The edges of the board have been thoroughly gnawed by tiny teeth. On it are carved the words "Shhh! Time to be quiet, Moneez, we're hunting monsters"

When i said sign launguage i meant hand guestures... But board launguage works wonders too!
In that vien I am going to go with a wooden buckler strapped to my upper arm/shoulder.

The excitable goblin is near bouncing around atop the crouched humans shoulders but as soon as he sees the board he starts nodding his head vigouriously, shaking it up and down with great force.
He then removes a well chewed piece of wood strapped to his shoulder and using a piece of charcoal scratches on a poorly drawn K.
He then jams the board about an inch in front of the humans face for a second, then pulls it back, scrawling something else on it. He thrusts the board back in front of the human with a huge, toothy grin on his face.
FUUD?

Annie--yeah, I was thinking that might make sense. And as for the Drow cleric of Nethys, our gods aren't enemies, so it's probably fine.

The leopard shakes his head. Maybe a bit of actual explanation is necessary, and the others seem to be still hiding in the shadows, perhaps less trustful than he is of the newcomer. He gestures to his traveling companions, and then attempts to whisper to the silent metal man as best he can.

Not sure if whispering is Stealth or Bluff, so I'll roll them both.

Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24
bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Hello. This is Tiny Coffee Golem (TCG). I'm putting the finishing touches on my character, but i'll have it done by end of day. Though there's enough to start roleplaying.

The shadow's behind Leo shift slightly and your eyes instinctively look that direction.

The shadows themselves seem to shift to the form of a humanoid. He's covered in a tight black outfit that covered everything but his eyes.

As he takes three steps his clothing shifts. The shape no longer looks like a would-be assassin in the night, but instead a perfectly groomed Drow who looks as though he wouldn't be out of place in the highest queens court. It's a bit of an oddity in these dark dusty tunnels. (Living Garmets are one of my favorite things.)

"Well, isn't this a motley crew?" He says in a friendly voice. "I'm sure all your life stories are endlessly fascinating, but we seem to have a more immediate issue to deal with. We're all here for the ankhegs, yes? Might I recommend we deal with those immediately threatening, splitting the profits accordingly of course, then have a long pleasant discussion at a quaint country tavern somewhere that's not in these poorly kept tunnels with danger looming? What do you say? Hummm?" David says as he shifts his eye contact from person to person. You can't help but notice his eyes are a very unique yellow/gold color. Almost as an after thought he adds, "Oh! How rude of me. My name is David of house Duebillon."

"Buzzkill, But you have a point."

Responding to mental commands David's clothing pulls tight to his body looking very dark, mobile, and dangerous.

Basically This

" What's the plan then? Are we merely waiting to see if they'll attack or are we going to try to negotiate. Seeing as how we've been hunting them for money they may not be to amenable to banter. " David asks flatly.

Schwartz waits until all the ankhegs have moved away from the area and then starts to creep towards the dropped note.

Since Leo and I posted around the same time, I'd like to say that Schwartz would have headed for the note anyway rather than waiting for Leo.

You made a suggestion. Afterwards people talked about the best course of action. From Schwartz's point of view, the general consensus was that we were going to see how diplomatic relations went for a while. As far as I can see, Schwartz has no reason to think that you still intend to go through burning everything down, especially since you only suggested it as opposed to saying that you were actually going to do that.

If you still want to start burning the place down because that's what your character would do, go ahead. But you asked ooc if it was ok, so I told you that Schwartz would not respond favorably to it.

Schwartz finds that the note is written in common probably to stop any of the ankhegs from finding out what it says.

Note:

If you are reading this then you and other person need to get ready to slaughter all of these foolish ankhegs. We are going to the main hall in the tunnels ahead. All of them will be in attendance so just set all the other entrances on fire and wait at the final entrance to kill them all. I will support from inside the hall as soon as their numbers wear thin. Best of luck and try not to die as finding competent new companions would be very difficult.

Whispering in the loudest, quiet whisper he can
What is it? Time to eat??

Schwartz quietly returns, grabs Imperius' hand, and drops the note into it, so that it is once again visible and readable.

"Vell, it looks like zee little vons vill be gettink vat zey vant; our friend is going to zee main hall ahead. He vishes ahs to set all but von entrance on fire." It's impossible to tell since he's invisible, but he may be looking at Annie as he says this. "Zen vee kan vait by zee von remainink door, vere zis von can hafe his snack." Most likely that last comment was directed towards Moneez.

"I vill head tovards zee tunnel now. Yoo," most likely he is making some kind of gesture at the group "Are velcomen to join me." There's a pause. "Just don't shpringen sie das trap before all zee ankhegs hafe arrived."

The silence that is left suggests Schwartz has left.

I was only joking around. but you speak true...and I am not actually burning anything.

Annie, growing bored with the talking, takes a seat behind a crate. and is having a pretend tea party with her stuffed bear. (no actual cups or tea just imaginary)

EDIT: actually when Annie first appeared she did ask In Character, but the Drow appeared right after and everyone was responding to him so she was left to answer her own question, and she was happy with that answer but followed the advice anyway --- no burning.

I missed it too. I didn't mean to hog the spotlight. My bad.

"The direct approach? How quaint. Alright then. Let me see what can be done. Annie, Why don't you bring out some pets to liven the place up." In a much lower tone, "and stir the hornets nest to see what they really have. "
