Actually, imperius, hasn't posted in a while, maybe he is sick or on vacation or even worse forgot about this. So I'm going to go ahead and resolve this. Updating in minute. Also Edrec, that isn't a rope ladder, it's a bolted in metal ladder, like you would see in today's world. I don't how ladders were made back then though. Imperius was left at town.
Okay, exploring the area or making perception checks is a wise idea before heading to the cabins, because the area was filled with Orcs, they were hidden, which is why I waited before resolving. A general perception check of 20 would have revealed 2 hidden orcs behind the bleachers and 3 in the bushes and a perception check in a specific area of 15 would reveal this and going close enough to the area without a perception check would have revealed this. There was also one orc in the tower.
The 5 on the ground get a surprise round on Aluemoth, but the ones in the tower were surprised by schwartz and nate, edrec can't see the orc yet so go ahead and make attacks against the one orc in the tower. Also none of the orcs have ranged weapons, so although edrec doesn't get a surprise he is too far to be surprised.
I will also need enemies drawn on the map. The orcs just reached the border of the map, so the ones from the bushes are on the border before I move them. The orcs behind the bleachers would be on the same square as the bleachers, they are just behind them if you know what I mean. to be clear, they are the type of bleachers you would see at a high school football game if that makes sense.

Moral of the story: It's not paranoia if someone really is trying to kill you. Also, how sturdy does the tower look? Does it look like the orcs would be able to knock it down if they tried?
Pleased that his suspicions about the tinted windows proved fruitful, Schwartz jumps into the main tower room, swinging his scimitar in a graceful arc.

Tower is sturdy, just don't set a dragon on top of it to crush down on it. It is made of stainless steel, so no rust. With all 4 corners bolted in very well. You would need a bludgeoning weapon and a strength of over 30 to actually break one leg. The ladder isn't going anywhere either.
And forgot, one orc does have ranged, but he is the one in the tower, because that makes sense. The windows can also be rolled down, the same way you roll down a car window that was made in the 80 and 90's with a crank.

It's big enough for up to two people to fit just barely but in a tight space, but this all happened in one round, the surprise round. Edrec litterally had to wait for you which means, it would take him an extra second or so to actually get up there and would be there round 1.

In my opinion, you were in the tower with schwartz since 2 can fit. You slide down the ladder with your hands as that was the only way you can get down that quickly without an acrobatics check or with a take 10 since you weren't in danger. Unfortunately though going straight down is faster, it's 40 feet and takes all your movement. You have just enough time to pull out your axe, but not shield and you are flatfooted, unless you have quickdraw feat there.
You pull out you axe and and orc takes one straight to the forhead, it's lucky to be alive. And now the monsters...

To Hit: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 2 = 25
Though his aim is good, it's not quite as lethal as he would have hoped, so he channels all his frustration into the blow to make up for it.
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Mote damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

All the orcs take massive cuts and damage. And with dead ones next to them they try to run.
You guys have attacks of opporunities on them. Aleumoth gets an attack of opportunity on 2, schwartz gets an attack of opportunity on 2.
And edrec gets an attack of opportunity on 2 of them. They still escape, but an attack of opportunity with a successul hit means they might actually slip on the ice while running, 50% chance or 80% if hit twice. 20% if not hit at all. This would mean the fall prone.

If at least one orc manages to continue to run away, Schwartz will pull out his bow and try to shoot him.
