A terrible creature bursts from the chamber filled with shadows. It looks like four-legged giant spider with a humanoid upper body, slender but with long arms ending in long scythe-like blades. The creature has just one eye on its elongated head but it glares balefully at you. "You will all die!" it screams inside your heads, but its mind-voice is just a little bit fearful.
Okay, guys. Initiative order is:
Solvi
Chops
Demon
Lanik
Ragnar
Gilian
Ilona
Sorok
Anang
Familiars may act at the same time as masters. That goes for the raven as well. Remember that you are fatigued. That means -2 Strength and -2 Dex.
Chops the Defender Dworg |
Chops moves in carefully with his axe in his left hand, making every attempt to avoid giving the spider-thing a chance to strike.
Acrobatics to avoid AoO 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 1 = 13
When he gets close enough, he brings his urutuk forward, but then decides to throw a haymaker punch at the demons head.

Demon-queen's claws tear at the dworg, slashing his skin away. "You still live! You will not for long! Not any of you shall remain! I will feast on your souls!" Demon-queen's scarlet eye flashes and the ray of crimson light blasts at Chops.

Chops the Defender Dworg |
Defender's body slumps in the pool of his own blood. Hatchet falls from his hand.
37 points of damage. Chops is at -6. Lanik is next, than Ragnar.
Wow. As a 2nd level character I am very happy that he hasn't been instantly toasted by taking 37 points of damage in one round.
Con check to stabilize 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Of course. The only break Chops is catching is in his bones.

The fight is gonna be tough one, but there will be great rewards if you manage to keep at least one of you alive. The good thing is that you managed to defeat this demon earlier and he has used all of his Summon Monster and Magic Jar daily uses, so it was smart decision to go after him right away. The bad thing is that Kiron is not here.
Chops the Defender Dworg |
Well hopefully Chops soaked up all its actions for the round, leaving Gillain to stablize and the other five to attack with full force and little fear of immediate retribution.
Edit: Actually, unless Gillian can bring Chops into fighting condition, he has ten more rounds till he dies assuming he fails all of his stabilizing checks. I think the smart decision would be for her to contribute to bringing down the beast and keeping people in fighting condition rather than to waste an action stabilizing me at this time. We should be able to waite until the very last minute.

Yup, you did. In that way, you acted truly as Defender should, and I will have that in mind.
Gilian |
Gilian moves by Chops' body and with a practice she has acquired following this company passes her hands on the worst of the wounds and on a broken collarbone. The wounds stop bleeding but little damage seems to be healed.
Casts CLW for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Chops, you're back at 1 HP. On a side note, Gilian can bring people back to fighting condition by the simple use of heal instead of just stabilizing them. I had hoped to bring you back with more HP by using CLW.
Lanik Clearwater |
Acrobatics:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Positioning myself on the other side of this guy to attempt to use my back stab feat. Just to refresh you that means if im flanking him and one o the people I am flanking him with gets attacked then I get an attack of opportunity.
So if I can get to the other side of him with a 5-foot Ill do that but otherwise I'm trying to inconspicuous tumble to the other side of him.
Readying an attack for once one of my attacks of opportunity is used against the demon.
Lanik instantly slips out of his bright red jacket leaving it draped against the wall as to not draw too much attention to himself and rolls past the demon to the other side of him practically melding with the shadows.
Lanik does his best to stay focused and thinking only of how he feel and his heart beat. He believes that if this thing can speak to his mind it might also be able to read it. He is now in reactionary mode, waiting for an opportunity.

Well, you have managed that with your Acrobatics and Stelath so you can try to attack him with backstab. The demon will then become aware of your position, but you may try to escape it once again with Stealth etc.
Muni, Keeper of Memories |

You should have applied penalty to attack, not damage. But you scored the attack even with much higher penalty that I would have called, so...

He is demon, therefore immune to your Fear effect.
Ragnar Death-Speaker |
He is demon, therefore immune to your Fear effect.
Is that a house rule? Fine if it is, but it's not normally one of the things Demons are immune to.
You should have applied penalty to attack, not damage. But you scored the attack even with much higher penalty that I would have called, so...
I didn't. Muni isn't fatigued. That's actually what a Raven's damage as listed as. I guess they just do 1 damage (minimum) with any attack. Makes some sense I guess.

Well, I suppose that you may call it house rule. It seems ilogicall to me that the demon should be afraid of bunch of weak ghosts.

He's right. From SRD
Demons are chaotic evil outsiders that call the Abyss their home. Demons possess a particular suite of traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature's entry) as summarized here.•Immunity to electricity and poison.
•Resistance to acid 10, cold 10, and fire 10.
•Summon (Sp) Demons share the ability to summon others of their kind, typically another of their type or a small number of less powerful demons.
•Telepathy.
•Except where otherwise noted, demons speak Abyssal, Celestial, and Draconic.
•A demon's natural weapons, as well as any weapon it wields, is treated as chaotic and evil for the purpose of resolving damage reduction

Ilona Ebonblade |
Ilona moves in close, too tired to charge but focused. She slides in whirling her blade with a flourish to draw attention away from Lanik as she brings Requiem accross one of the monster's legs
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
1d12 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
No penalty added since she is not using Str or Dex for attack and damage
If anything her silence is even more of a statement that her previous words. She strikes as an agent of justice determined to bring swift death to this destroyer.
Sorok Hamfael |
Upon seeing Chops go down under the demons assault Sorok charges straight ahead raising Umbra high.
"Ye'll die by our hands ye filthy Demon!!'
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage:1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Current AC. 18
Anang |
Anang grimaces as Chops goes down under the demon's onslaught and slashes at one of the delicate looking joints in the monster's knee.
Main hand followed by offhand attack, hopefully flanking so added sneak attack damage.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (2) = 8
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (3) = 9
Bugger, double fail.

New Round
Solvistania, sees Chops laid low and a reddish haze comes over her vision. Her only thought, DIE!. She raises her arm, pointing at the demon, and sends her magic, fueled by rage, hurtling towards it.
Magic Missile 1d4+1
The fiend shudders. "Whore!" it mindscreams.
Chops the Defender Dworg |
Chops groans as he comes to due to Gillians healing magic. He rolls over to his chest and pushes up. He spits out a mouthful of blood onto the floor of the cave and coughs, eliciting another dark spray of blood. Then he stands.
"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT, F$+#NUTS" He reaches to the net folded at his waste, whips it out and swings it about his head and tosses.
Touch Attack 1d20 + 5 - 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 5 = 10
You would think talking smack would trigger a built in program that makes a roll automatically roll high. I mean, you can't just talk shit then toss a net in the dirt. Am I right?
nightflier |
Demon easily evades the net and then almost with contempt attacks Chops.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 212d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
"Die, maggot!" demons mindscreams. "And you, bird, I can sense you!"
Acrobatics 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 to attack Muni
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 272d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
The demon jumps high in the air and slashes at the raven with one of its claws, and then lands in front of Solvi and behind Ilona, Ragnar, Anang and Sorok.
Gilian |
As Chops flops down once more, Gilian reaches again for him and this time, her spell is more assured. "You won't die on me. Not another. Get up and fight!"
CLW for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11, Chops, You're back to 10 HP.
After this spell, Gilian pants before catching her breath back. She knows performing another spell would be taxing and from what her mother told her, could cost her life. But she would do it, whatever the cost, to let her companions end that demon existence.
When her head comes up, her face is white and set. But her eyes burn with the same resolution as ever.
"Out of SP, but I've got Con to sacrifice, so don't hold up."
Lanik Clearwater |
so as I see it I have 4 attacks. First is when he attacks chops then is as he leaves my threatened squares, next my held action is triggered and my normal attack goes off and after that is his attack on Muni. So here goes
attack+7 +1MW +2 flanking
First attack he is flat footed.

Muni, Keeper of Memories |
Muni squawks and tumbles through the air from the unexpected blow, but manages to right himself. "You call that a hit? If I wanted a kiss I'da called ya mother! Some big scary demon you are, can't even take out a little bird. Lemme show you how this is done."
Muni uses the Dirty Trick maneuver from the APG. Specifically, he'd like to swoop down and drag Chops' fallen net around the things legs to give it the Entangled condition.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Here's to hoping that missing an eye actually gives it some kind of penalty.

And I see you demon, I see what you really are, I see the uglyness beneath the surface.
Lanik stance changes as he prepares for another assault.
BTW lanik ignores 3 pts of damage reduction per attack.
I'm not using damage reduction for this one. The demon just has a lot of hit points.
