It is not an wasted feat. You can craft double as fast. And it gives you a bonues to your skillrolls. This might get important for very expensive items. Instead of 100days just 50. Sounds good in my book.

As to the feat, I get your point, it just seems to me that there are way too many better feats to take.

So do we want to put together a plan before we go into this fight? I'm going by dragon stereotypes and hoping Smite Evil will work since I don't know much about the non-color coded types. Does anyone want to start by hanging back and peppering it with arrows? Do we have a way to try to keep it grounded for us meleefolk to close in? Severo can offer Protection from Evil and Weapons Against Evil for a few, but not all party members.

PoE:
"This spell wards a creature from attacks by evil creatures, from mental control, and from summoned creatures. It creates a magical barrier around the subject at a distance of 1 foot. The barrier moves with the subject and has three major effects.

First, the subject gains a +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus on saves. Both these bonuses apply against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures.

Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person). This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect. If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. Magic Circle against Evil is in my honest opinion, broken. Only because so many different GMs play it differently.

As I understand it, for the party to take benefit from the spell they must stay within the circle. If a party member leaves the circle, then they no longer benefit from the protection.

Thoughts?

By the way, the Dragon's SR is 25 for all spells that are applicable.

Edit: I have uploaded onto the map a circle image that I applied transparency to it. Stone is in the center of the image. I changed the marching order a little to capture the whole party into the circle. Again, as I interpret the rule, you will need to stay within the circle to maintain its benefit. Devora will move with Stone and stay behind Stone.

And one more thing to help out this old GM, please provide your AC and HPs after the buffs are applied. I have enough to do with this Dragon. ;)

You know I just assumed it would affect everybody and that would be it. But after your post I reread the spell and I'm not sure it even moves. But at the vary least you are right and stays around the target. With that being the case shall I put it on one of the people moving in close, Severo Brandark or myself or shall I put it on someone more likely to stay in the back with ranged attacks like Flynn Elektra or Dev?

I would keep the circle around the ranged group, but have Stone throw up either resistance to Energy or Protection from Energy on everyone that he can.

I will use my potion of Protection from Evil to cover at least one of the mobile group.

@Brandark - The Roar was actually nothing but a Roar. But the Dragon has the aura of Frightful Presence, which is an Extraordinary ability. It was triggered by the Dragon's use of its Breath Weapon.

But the Rise of the Runelord may be the best of the lot. The Rusty Dragon alone is such an iconic locale. Ameiko Kaijitsu is such a fascinating ;) tavern keeper. The whole of Sandpoint is a great setting.

I agree that sandpoint is a greet setting.


I have not played or run "City of the Spider Queen." I have run "Vault of the Drow" after, one of my favorites, "Against the Giants."

Spelljammer was particularly good for higher level characters. I borrowed heavily from it in a home brew.

But maybe my all time favorite from the AD&D world, and mostly for its uniqueness, was "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks." However, IMHO none of them have the richness of the Rise of the Runelord.

As Flynn's primary weapon is a composite longbow, I believe Flynn would benefit the party the most with the icy burst Longbow. Quite frankly, I am surprised he did not grab it before.

Did Garrath have one of the Sihedron Medallions?

Great job Haskyll keeping up with all this.

Less the Icy Burst Longbow, Savah would likely trade the Frost Waraxe for the party's collection of unused Weapons and Armor. At least, most of it. The problem with Savah having a rare expensive item is that no one in Sandpoint can afford it. These lesser items are better for a shop in Sandpoint.

Agreed on the Icy longbow. I will pass on that.

Garrath has one of the Sidhedrons, the one there, is one of the non claimed ones. :)

instead of the icy burst, I will put in for the normal +1 longbow.
Then I just have to find someone to put adaptive on it. :)

I thought the dex belt was goven to Devora? Sev will take one of the amulets of natural armor though. Divine Bond makes it easy to pass over a weapon or two, I would pick up a shield for him but pesky "handedness" rules keep him from using lay on hands with a sword and shield unless I spend another feat.
