so my thoughts at this point are to either walk by this thing that is clearly grappeling alex and smash the other guy who told harmini something(if alex can bite or breath weapon this thing) or walk up and smash this thing before it gets to do this to anyone else. i just need to find out who my target is as according to map i can see a bad guy on the corner
Bambara the Fierce |
new idea that i want to run by gm and chui. if you move 15' i could burn a hero point rolling to its flank for you and getting closer to the other big baddie in the process by way of act out of turn option in the hero point section. i didn't post that part yet as i 1st want to know your opinion and if its even worth it as i may have failed the acrobatics anyway on the first try.

I want to ask again here before the gross head thing that kissed me attacks again. I rolled a 19 to hit with my bite and it missed. I rolled a 15 to hit with my claw and it connected, but if my bite missed I actually rolled a 13, since I would still be sickened. Is there some interaction that I am not aware of that is causing this? I normally wouldn't care about this one attack but I really don't want to get paralyzed again and I want this dead now so we can focus on the thing that has DR 10 cold iron, immunity to fire and acid 10 and SR 13.
A classy gent.
By the way, beside our crossbow bolts, does anyone have anything cold iron? I do not. We could also hit it with alchemist fire

First off, sorry for the delay. This head cold/flu/plague messed me up and drained me of all motivation and life. So, lets get back into it (if we can, I know Harmini is also a little under the weather).
With my knowledge roll would I have an idea about what this div's compulsion is?
I would say you would know Divs have such a flaw but not specifically what type for the Doru.
Alex Traza |
Just so there is no confusion about what I am doing, for flavor I am going crazy on this head but I haven't made a real attack roll and kneeling is the same thing as standing (you are either prone or not prone and I am not). Mechanically I am just standing there for now and I didn't take my turn early. I think the invisihead is still bumping around and it is it's turn. I think.

I forgot about us sort of being out of rounds. If I can, I start pounding this thing.

I need to correct one thing guys. I am sorry to have pushed things along but this is what happens when something is happening quickly but not necessarily in rounds and then post happen in rapid fire without others being able to correct for time.
Harmini is under a compulsion spell. She is compelled to search for this cure, and will not stop until she has searched for it. This means that while Alex and Bam are coming down the stairs, Harmini is still heading towards the other yard. I decided to have things in a more informal situation but then Alex jumped ahead to talking face to face with Harmini. This forced me to make adjustments to where people were based on what seemed "normal".
Alex obviously was trying to catch up to Harmini, Chui was following Harmini, and Bam was unclear but traditionally while exploring Bam wanted to be close behind Chui. So that is what I was setting up.
In the future, if there is any kind of effects going on that force some actions upon a character, we will remain in rounds to avoid this. From here, we will resume rounds as well.
Alex Traza |
If you want you can just tell people that they don't have time to do what they say they did. We use time magic all the time. If I or anyone else (its probably going to be me though) jumps too far ahead, just say you get to XXX and then YYY happens. I don't know what will happen when I do things and if I am moving too fast then don't be afraid to pull me back.
I didn't think the suggestion of "find a cure in the courtyard" would also include going inside of buildings that are almost certainly filled with monsters. That seems unsafe to say the least. Can you add those qualifiers to suggestion? If so I will be snagging what has become the most powerful spell in the game as soon as I can. Imagine the combats that can end with us telling every monster to go outside and look for snow while everyone else ambushes them one by one.

As Pete the player, I'm fine with how things are developing and where are various characters are and what they are doing. There is a logic to what all our characters are doing
Chui, who almost graduated from the Murraseth Assassins Academy, is appalled at the tactical fiasco enfolding around him, but that's his problem. Also, he has a climb speed, and if necessary, he'll go over the wall, saunter over to the Tooth & Hookah for a drink, and relate the sad story of how all of his fellow adventurers died valiantly.
Harmini Wakestep |
I don't see any issues with the way the Suggestion spell-like ability was used. Even the PC reactions in-game seemed appropriate (none really knew what occurred from a spell effect perspective)... they just needed to be in the form of rounds (GM already suggested this correction) I think to maintain the time stamp integrity of what was actually happening and when: Harmini didn't exactly freeze in time or walk in slow motion to allow the rest of the group to catch up to her to indulge her compulsion. It was up to those of free will to either follow her or do other things. Other than Chui, seems Bam and Alex elected to stay upstairs at first and do "other things" rather than see/follow what Harmini was up to. I'd say they are at least several rounds behind her in terms of map positioning.
All that being said, I would expect Harmini to get into trouble very soon :). Whether or not you choose to participate in helping her, again , is up to you (I'm hoping you all will help though). I would also expect the GM to tell me when the conditions of the suggestion spell have been met and/or broken.

Oh yes, the term murder was used in the sense of how much glorious overkill there was. Between Bambara and Chui, this thing must be sliced in half. Thumbs up all around.
And I don't want to befriend every evil NPC we find, just the cool ones. With this little fellow in particular I'm happy that I've been keeping it away from everyone, with how terrible I am in combat this is by far the most useful thing that I can do. Maybe I can even get it to leave and we won't have to fight something that can turn invisible at will, fly, cast spells, and has DR 10. That sounds aggravating.

That is all.

Donna Summer! I love that late 70's disco funk, Candi has amazing taste.

When I switched over to Alexandra, Jeremy asked me what Alex was doing in Wati and I stated something vague about looking for something that could quicken her transformation and this was because I didn't have an idea about what I wanted to go for. I toyed with the idea of gaining a mass following of servants/worshipers but that could really mess with the group dynamic, it didn't gel with everyone else, and it is an admittedly bad idea anyway.
After spit-balling a few ideas around I have a plan about what my character wants and it fits within the campaign's theme. This is an explanation of her underlining goal, I don't intend on playing it up as an obsession. This goal isn't something she will ever say out loud in almost any circumstance and more than likely she only expects to find bits and pieces of information, not everything that she needs. Even if she does gain an opportunity to "safely" use this information she would have to wait until level 11 at the bare minimum before she would try.
So, with all that being said, what would you think about Alex looking into how to become a Juju Zombie. Should it happen, at level 11 I have all my class abilities, more armor, I'll use my 26 Charisma to calculate my hit points (which bumps up to a 32 once I get the monster feat and turn into a undead dragon) and I gain a lot of immunities. There will be downsides for sure, but I think that it might be worth it when we are that high level, in addition to it being super cool.
Harmini Wakestep |
I guess my first question to this idea would be: Being that the adventure paths always assume the PCs want to be heroes and save people /things for the greater good (with few exceptions), how do you plan on putting a vaguely good aligned/heroic type spin on a character that aspires to become a Juju Zombie/Undead Dragon?
Alex Traza |
Well this is where things get a little interesting. An early build of the Juju mystery oracle has an ability
Spirit Vessels (Su): You can channel wendo spirits into lifeless bodies, reanimating them to aid you. Necromancy spells that create undead lose the evil descriptor when you cast them. Mindless undead created by your magic are of neutral alignment, while thinking undead possess your alignment. When using the animate dead spell, you can control 6 HD worth of undead creatures per caster level rather than 4 HD. In addition, any zombies or juju zombies you create using animate dead, create undead, or similar spells possess maximum hit points.
Using this ability allows me to become a zombie without necessarily becoming evil AND maximizing my hit dice for even more outrageous amounts of health. It also sets a precedent for a spell in our game that could be used to allow this to happen, if it ever does.
Here is the kicker, this version has been changed to be more in line with "all undead are always evil". It would be up to the GM to rule on if I could use this version, if I even get the chance to. Again, this is a goal, not a thing that I need to do.
Also just because I become LE doesn't mean I lose my free will, I can work towards saving the world for profit just like we are doing now with very little change to my attitude.
Talalmackk Chirronna |
Sorry, this one I have to veto outright.
There are too many things here to address them all but I cannot allow this. I will try to explain a few.
One, Harmini is absolutely spot on. The AP's work on the assumption that the PCs are heroes for the most part and the party we currently have is riding the line of this.
Second, alignment is not a statistic alone. It is guide for how the character acts and how they view the world. If Alex's goal is to become a undead juggernaut dragon, that is a purely evil goal and I would have to deem Alex is evil. I will allow a character to "become" evil in the coarse of play, and won't remove them as long as the story can lead to possible redemption, but for a character to WANT to be evil is not something I will allow.
Third, the main plot of the AP is in opposition of forces that are made up of many undead. Playing in a manner in which you want to be and create undead will derail the game, relatively quickly (nothing in PBP goes quickly). At best it will lead to the PCs become the lesser of two evil forces at war for the same goal. This is not what I have in mind.
I had no issue with the goal of becoming a powerful dragon. A dragon is arrogant and power hungry, but they don't have to be evil. If you wish to play a neutral character that wants to be a powerful dragon for selfish and power-hungry reasons, this I am okay with. But not becoming an JUJU ZOMBIE DRAGON. This is worse the allowing to play an outright dragon, which is not an option either.

Can i make a snake friend? Itd be neat havin him live in my branches
There are many ways this could happen. It just depends on what level of function you want it to have.
You could buy a snake and use handle animal to train it, though I can tell you in combat this will become less useful as the game goes on (the snake does not level with you and it does take actions to command the snake, action what could be spent smashing something).
Along the same line you could also try to catch a snake (probably a downtime action), though you would need the appropriate skill to do so. This opens up being able to get a snake that is more in line with the level of the party (every once in a while you catch a bigger snake to train) but it still does not eliminate the action tax of commanding the snake. To add to this, you could possibly see if a druid could awaken the snake but that takes resources and would be a little pricey (I'd have to think on the price, the straight math on this is probably low).
There is one other option if you wish. You could gain a little viper snake as a familiar. There are feats anyone can take that give you a fully functional familiar. I think it is two or three feats to do it, but it is an option.
I am willing to make small tweaks to thinks and let characters grow, I actually want to encourage it, but it needs to not break the game or the party. So keep them coming.

Look up the bloodrager option Bloodline familiar. It's what Candi would like to get if/when PFS ever allows the retraining of Bloodrager Bloodline feats.

Two quick things before I head off to Table Top.
1) I just wanted to make sure that we're all good and that any in-game, inter-character friction isn't bleeding over into real-life crankiness. Personally, I'm fine.
2) Less importantly, I wanted to explain that Chui's military-esque jargon comes from his time at the assassin's academy where I assume he had classes on tactics, etc.
Zuckerman's Famous |
1)I'm OK, its just RP. If there is something that goes beyond just RP then I am unaware of it but I would be that last to notice something like that. If there is a problem please just tell me and I'll promise to not get upset. I've been told I lack self awareness but I've never noticed.
2)What do catfolk classrooms look like?
