I'm all for speeding up the knowledge checks process since likely my character will be the one making most of them.

However, I think a more appropriate solution to replicate the flavor of "asking questions" might be to provide a full list of the various monster stats (HD, Special Attacks, Defenses, etc...) with a successful check that warrants any number of questions. Then allow the PC to determine which bits of info their character "remembers" based on the result. (Ex: You get to pick 2 bits of info of your choice for your character to act upon and know.)

I understand that this idea would require some meta-gaming restraint on the part of the PCs. Alternatively, the GM gets full control over what monster info is learned and what is obscured so it's a matter of trust either way imho. Ultimately, whatever the GM decides to do is fine with me.

As I am always willing to find a better way, and I do trust you as much as you trust me (not sure what that is saying really), so I think this is worth a look. As long as it is not abused. What do you guys think.

One note guys. Paizo has a rule about bad language (not a concern here in my opinion) and foreign languages (this one we may need to watch). We are free to use them as long as we use the English alphabet. When doing Arabic for Osirion, please make sure to use the phonetic translation instead of the Arabic alphabet. No flags raised yet, so it was an honest mistake but I'd rather not have Paizo come knocking us for it. Thanks.

I know you have no intentions with it, but I remember reading it somewhere in the forum rules. And as I said, no one has come to me saying "BAD, BAD, BAD!", I just try to respect their wishes as much as I can.

I'm really, really sorry delaying this combat but looking at the map again I realized I can't move where I want to because that big circle is a huge pillar. If I go anywhere else I will be in the sleep aura so the plan won't work. I've delayed combat long enough so I will just take my turn.

Right, of course Harmini's familiar can deal with the sleep aura.

If anyone ever asks me if I know what I am doing or if I understand Pathfinder, I'll tell them the story about how I delayed combat for 2 days so I could eat a burger.

Yeah. sorry for not saying anything. Harmini has no actions to take. I had her move 5' west. That's it. She'll use Alabaster for keeping folks awake (yay construct traits!). Start getting injured and she'll have more things to do. Ah.. the life of a healer.

Bam's action was spent snoring. He will act in the usual place in initiative. Of course he will need to make another Will save to see if he stays awake again.

Will saves are THE most important things in this game.

Oh I misunderstood what you were saying and got the impression this was some kind of variant sandwoman with a persistent aura. I am relieved to be wrong.

My third level feat i think will be iron will instead of powerattack

Iron Will might not be the flashiest feat but is always great, with 4 people in the group having the Barbarian CCed at any point is bad at the best of times and can be devistating. We all have our weak points, yours is that adorable brain. I’ll make sure Bambara takes his midday nap in the sun next time.

I think Iron Will was one of my first feats. Another good one for us bloodragers is Steadfast Personality which adds our Cha bonus to mind-affecting effects saves. We'll make an awesome killing machine (plant?) of you yet.

OK, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Now that it is passed, I can get back into it. Thanks for your patience while I finished the season.

I know that this is a longshot at best, but I want to try to take this thing alive. How cool would it be to view a private collection or go to a museum that was curated by a creature that lived in the area during that time, and is made sand. This thing could be a money maker, or at the very least get us some name recognition. Maybe we can talk to it and reach and agreement or maybe just put it in a bucket and carry it to the Pharasmins.

Once we can find and take care of the flying head thing we really should go back downstairs. We are carrying a nice armor upgrade for either myself or Bambara and we skipped a lot of rooms. If Bam wants the armor we should go outside and change that. If Chui want to push forward, then do that. I'm not one for standing close to what is
almost certainly an ambush, do we go back or go forward?

I say we leave the decision up to our dungeon crawl leader (Chui) as was the original plan. He wanted to go upstairs and kill the head so I say we follow him.

I'm not a big fan of trying to bring the sand thing back alive. One, I think it will be very difficult and dangerous. Two, it almost sounds like we'd be enslaving it, and Chui is at best ambivalent about that.

Once we will annoying flying head thing, I hope we can loot at leisure and to our heart's content.

I trust in the eyes of our catman.

I don't plan on enslaving it, I want to bargain with it. Elemental bargain from time to time. She will be out for a day at least (I think) and that gives us plenty of time to work our way through this place. And if she doesn't want to stay then that's the way it goes. Its almost like what Harmini is doing with Alabaster but instead of a person it would serve a museum.

I have to agree with Chui here: attempting to befriend evil elementals is not a great idea. Not to mention the sleep aura every 24 hours. Doesn’t Chui also have a drawback trait that compels him to kill nearby unconscious living things or he takes penalties (Cruelty)?

Alabaster is also a construct with feelings! It’s smarter than Bambara even. If Alex wants a pet, Harmini will make her one that isn’t evil later.
