Welcome to the discussion thread of the Mummy's Mask AP.
Please read the link found at the top of the page title Player Character Guidelines and then post to this thread about what kinds of characters you are looking and willing to play. Unless there is a build that is disruptive in my opinion, I will stay out of this discussion exception to answer questions.
Let me know if there are any questions.
Edit: Minor additions to the Player Character Guidelines

Chui Nyeusi |

Chui Nyeusi was the youngest son of middling rank noble family in the catfolk nation of Murraseth in southern Garund. As was common with the younger children of the Murraseth nobility, Chui was sent to study at the Murraseth Guild of Assassins where he learned to be a ninja (1).
Chui has black fur and skin (melanism), and his physical features are much leopard-like than they are human. He has pronounced canines and claws (2). Chui is 5 ft. 10 in. and weighs 170 lbs, slightly above average for male catfolk.
Chui’s father turned out to be more politically ambitious than talented, and the family fell on hard times. As a result, Chui decided to seek his fortune elsewhere and set off into the Mwangi Expanse. He first encountered a tribe of jungle orcs who were impressed by his bestial appearance and ninja skills. Chui lingered with them for about a year. During this time, he learned how to use his leopard-like mouth and teeth as a weapon by observing the manner in which many orcs employed bite attacks (3).
After his stay with the jungle orcs, Chui traveled to Osirion in order to join the substantial catfolk community there. He was drawn to Wati because of the opportunities presented by the Pharaoh’s opening of the tombs and ruins there.
In terms of alignment and personality, Chui is chaotic neutral and not always the nicest or kindest of creatures (4). Some other features of Chui’s personality are:
a) Neurotic – often suspicious or fearful of other creatures and thus aggressive towards them.
b) Both impulsive and open - often active, curious, and inquisitive.
c) Dominance-seeking - can be stingy, aggressive to other catfolk, and jealous of the status and power of others (5).
Since his arrival in Osirion, he has developed an interest in the ancient Osirion deity, Bastet.
Notes
1 – The Guild of Assassins is a respectable part of catfolk society and politics in Murraseth, similar to the Guild of Assassins in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. Catfolk assassins in Murraseth often train as ninjas. Ninjutsu was introduced to Murraseth several hundred years ago by catfolk visitors from Tian Xia.
2 – I really like the image on this page, Fantasy Age entry on catfolk.
3 – Mechanically, Chui’s stay with the orcs resulted in him getting the Adopted and Tusked traits and spending one skill point in Linguistics to learn orcish.
4 – I’m taking the Drawback cruelty.
5 – These come from paper on cat personality.

I don't have anything set in stone, but I do have 3 ideas. Id like to make the leap and play a arcane caster, I am thinking a human arcanist which would then multi class into a Lore Warden in order to get into the Eldritch Knight stuff. E
I could also make a monkey folk monk, or a magus.
I'd like to start slinging magic but I'll wait to see what the group looks like before I make a decision.

I was thinking about going exlemplar brawler halforc from whati who is generally good but due to the part he is from he works for a crimeboss to pay off a debt he inherrited from his good for nothing father. Its not much atm but i think he will work well in any group as he wants out of this life of morally wrong behavior

Just a thought that it might be fun to consider oread for a brawler (or even a monk) since Osirion has lots of geniekind running about. There is a feat series which lets an oread get earth glide which could be very cool http://zenithgames.blogspot.com/2015/06/races-of-pathfinder-oread.html.

Generic Hero |

I don't mind playing healer/support for this. A couple options come to mind that I think would fit the campaign nicely.
1.) Male Pahmet Dwarven Druid. Possibly a Goliath druid (thanks to Dave and my newly acquired Giant Hunter's Handbook).
2.) Female Oread Witch (Hex Channeler) w/ a focus on crafting. (Ioun Wyrd Familiar eventually).
I would also like to make a strong recommendation that someone in the group (preferably the skill class/scout role) take the "Trap Finder" trait from the Mummy's Mask Player's Guide. It probably wouldn't hurt for even 2 characters to have this trait. There's a good reason that campaign trait is available. There are traps. LOTS of traps.

Generic Hero |

I can take Trap Finder. I didn't realize that ninjas give up up trapfinding as a class feature. If we are worried about traps, would it be better for me to go unchained rogue rather than ninja?
I see no reason you can't keep the catfolk ninja if you like it. Trap Finder is just a trait (+1 DD makes it a class skill. Can disarm magic traps). Literally any character in the group can take it. No perception/DD bonus like full-blown, real rogue Trapfinding but a viable substitute imho.

Generic Hero |

Ok guys how do you feel about me being an oracle. Or woould you rather a trapbreaker alchemist
So far I think we've got interest in the following:
1.) catfolk ninja (Role= Melee striker/skills)
2.) melee arcane class (Role= Melee striker/arcane boom)
3.) healer/support (Role= Buffs/debuffs and heals)
4.) sounds like we need a ranged damage option. (These are both possible with an Oracle or Trapbreaker Alchemist).

Generic Hero |

Alchemists are good enough on their own and having a trapbreaker is great. If you are playing an alchemist, should I still go with my arcanist or will we need more front line people? An Unbreakable fighter would be fun to play.
I won't say no to a straight up fighter if that's your game. :)

Generic Hero |

Ok. so let's try this and see what people think.
1.) male catfolk ninja {role= melee striker/skills possibly traps}
2.) (gender?) (race?) unbreakable fighter {role= melee defense/tank}
3.) female oread hex channeler witch {role= arcane heals/support/crafting}
4.) (gender?) (race?) flame oracle {role=divine ranged striker}
I dig it so far.
Any thoughts on a group name? or any joint backstory?

Wynrey Pendergrass, my Unbreakable fighter is going to be a half elf.
In regard to her character, I had already built her into my swashbuckler's backstory and had been waiting to use her in a campaign setting. She was raised in Fangwood Keep shortly after she was born and trained with her mother. She shares the same spirit and joined the Pathfinders to adventure with her peers and to start to step out of a very tall shadow. She loves fight evil and will stop at nothing to protect her friends.
Question: I want to know if I can use Ancestral Arms and Blended View alternate racial traits.

Chui Nyeusi |

OK, I'll continue with my ninja plan, taking Trap Finder as my campaign trait in place of Devotee of the Old Gods.
In terms of a joint back story, Shawn's changeling character, Elendra, could be the focus of what brings us all together as she is a native of Wati, while Will and my characters are from elsewhere.
Matt, is your character from Wati or Osirion, or is that still undetermined?
I'm fine with a joint back story that's as simple as having Elendra, the Wati native, recruiting the rest of us for a team to explore the city's ruins. My motivations for joining such a group would be primarily mercenary, with a secondary interest in learning more about Bastet and the place of catfolk in contemporary and ancient Osirion (ie. Chui is getting a little horny and is looking for a not so nice catfolk girl who will probably never meet his mother (and no, even though it looks like I'm the only male PC in the group, I'm not going to hit on any of your characters)).

Yes to both... Half-drow? Interesting.
There's no requirement that our PCs be members of the Pathfinder Society, correct?
There is no requirement that the group be members of the Pathfinder Society, but it is a possibility. The AP assumes you are a GROUP, meaning people that have decided to work together for a reason. I did say in the guidelines that there could be some kind of benefactor group such as the Pathfinders if that is the way the group wished to go, but it could also be that the group is kind of working for one member (and that member could then be a member of a larger organization).
With that said, I have access to both the Adventurer's Guild and the Faction Guide. Both have a number of groups that would be suitable for such a benefactor. Also, I am willing to use the faction "prestige" concept for additional rewards that might be available.

So far looking at Rahadoum. An atheist nation built on the ruins of the Jistkan empire. Harmini was resurrected (campaign trait) and traveled to Orision seeking to uncover the mysteries of death contained in the necropolis of Wati with her intrepid companions.

Rylai has an unfortunate history of falling down wells and after a very ...very long fall down a very deep well she found herself in the depths of the earth. After liberating some oddly dark skinned elf they were able to make their way back to the surface and back to Fangwood Keep. One thing lead to another and the result of that is Wynrey.

If Wynrey is Rylai's daughter, can Candi be her god-mother?

I like the idea of a group forming around Elendra, that Wynrey is there because of her. My motivation for being there would be to protect the smarter people so they can do whatever it is that they do with that magic stuff and old language things. Once shit goes ham at the dollar store she all about fighting that evil.

Oh she totally is. I didn't bring it up because she didn't exist technically (time magic) but yes she knows Candi very well.
At some point Wynrey is going to prestige class into Stalwart Defender, which is a barbarian that goes into an anti-rage to become a super tank. Combat training with Candi is what is going to allow her to do that.

its a great group imho
True enough on that I guess, but it is all coming together pretty well I think. The group is solid mechanically I think and I think the stories are good and will come together pretty well.

Updates
I have loaded a new version of the Player Character Guidelines link. The changes all revolve around the exploration status concept to help avoid certain rolls being made over and over. It takes into consideration current rules a little more, putting it in line with what already exists instead of adding new elements so much.

Question: when we are creating a character will we need to register them like we do when making a PFS character? also how will rolling dice work? I will probably have more questions like this as I think of them.
Questions are welcome, unless it turns into a 4 year old asking me why the sky is blue. And before you ask, I don't know, go ask your mother!
All kidding aside, feel free to ask.
You will need to create an alias for the character, using the character name. The profile for this account will be where you record the character, but you do not need it to be a PFS character number (though I find it easier to do so, just make a similar PFS legal character if you like). If you need help, I can walk you through it.
