Paling, the cavalier weighs her chances of being able to defend herself from such a large animal. Gabraltar, her horse, having been given no commands bolts deeper into the swamp. "Tar! No!" Everyone else might want to get away from those bugs, I'm going to slow them down until Kwava can get his arm warmed up." Different arcane words ring out from Pluck's perch. As he finishes, a gaping hole appears in the swamp right where the swarm and wererat once stood.

Standard Action: Ready action to cast create pit once Tamiro has moved. Targeting the four squares currently occupied by the swarm, including Wererat #3. DC 16 Reflex save or fall into 10x10x10 pit (DC 25 to climb out, lasts 4 rounds). I don't think swarms can take falling damage even though I'm dropping the entire swarm :( Unfortunately, our rat friends have too high of DR to be affected, but it will decrease the number of them we have to focus on for now and hoping the swarm will still be perfectly content to try munching on our rat friend eeven if they don't damage him.
Note, Tamiro, Nel and Mazra will be fine this round since they will act before Pluck (because of the readied action), but if they end their next turn next to the pit, they have to make Reflex saves with a +2 or fall in.

"Of course they're difficult to damage. Nel can use the silver. Everyone else needs to help her hit or hit really hard yourself. Oh. And magic. Magic will work too. Like this." Pluck runs a finger over the familiar silver band on his middle finger and is rewarded as two more of the missiles fly toward the wererat engaged with Nel, slamming hard into its swamp-befouled fur.

Under the barrage of Nel's blade, Tamiro's assistance, Mazra's force rapier and Pluck's magic missile, the wererat W@ goes down. His eyes glaze over in shock as his body settles mostly under the swamp.

Vark, since that happened before your initiative, did you want to redirect your grease?

Kwava grumbles as he goes to grab another flask, "I should've stocked up earlier. Let's get that one rat while the other's in time out."

He returns to shooting the wererats with his bow, shooting quickly with little regard to his accuracy. One silvery arrow pincushions the wererat near Vara.

In that case...

Vark will urge Allegro forward until he has a clear view of the pit containing the struggling wererat. Maintaining his performance, he mumbles a few words and points to the pit. The walls of the pit instantly become slick and hard to grasp. "He will have a hard time getting out of there now. Maybe we can interrogate this one to find out exactly what is going on here!"

---

I will leave it up to you to determine exactly how much of the wall area is covered, but since the spell cites a 10' square, I'm hoping it is most of the surface. Not sure exactly how that will affect this climb DC, I will leave that up to your discretion. Here is a link to the spell description.

Inspire courage and Flagbearer combine to grant a +2 bonus to atk/dmg and a +1 bonus to save against charm/fear to all allies that can see/hear Vark. Vara, Pluck, and Kwava only get a +1 due to being more than 30' away.

15 rounds of bardic performance left.

FYI Vark, walls of the pit are already a DC 25 to climb.

Yes, the guy already can't climb out as it is. You're more than welcome to choose another action. There's a wererat near Vara and there's the swarm down in the pit.

Let's just have him maintain his performance and move on.

Mazra will cast Divine Favor.

Round Recap

Kwava grumbles as he goes to grab another flask, "I should've stocked up earlier. Let's get that one rat while the other's in time out."

He returns to shooting the wererats with his bow, shooting quickly with little regard to his accuracy. One silvery arrow pincushions the wererat near Vara.

Taking a swing at the rat as it moves out of her reach, Nel is too
distracted by the pit to connect to the lycanthrope. Following the monster, the tall half-elf grits her teeth as takes another swing at the beast. Letting out a cry of victory as the weapon finally finds its mark, the cavalier manages to make a deep cut in the monster's arm, causing a brief spray of blood to emerge. "You can say that again, Tamiro! What a pain in the îmbinare."

Vara pales a little as the wererat heals from her first, effective punch. She studies him for a moment, and then attempts to deliver a knockout blow to his skull. However, her movement is predictable and he ducks out of the way.

Mazra calls upon Cailean, " We could use your Rapier Cayden."
Tamiro swings for the were-rat as it moves away, his blade knicking it.

As the ground begins to sink he moves over to Nel to aid her in her attacks.

"Korera no akuma ga sonshō suru koto wa kon'nandearu yō ni mieru!", Tamiro says.

Vark maintains his performance.

The wererat by Vara glares at her and once more rushes forward with a blow, but fumbles with his blade.

Kwava takes two more quick shots at the rat by Vara, saying, "I think we've nearly got him!"

His expert shooting pays off, and the two arrows hit the wererat in back of the neck, almost instantly killing him. The wererat slumps to the ground.

Rapidshot, two attacks. Remembering that point-blank shot applies.

Pluck laughs again from his dry perch and then calls out in mock horror, "Ouch! That looked like it really hurt. I don't imagine the swamp water tastes too good, does it? You can't hear me? Oh, he's dead too. Only one of you left? What a shame. I don't suppose you're ready to surrender now are you?"

The wererat stares with abject terror at Pluck and squeaks out, "I'll give you the goods. What do you want to know?"

Pluck waves a hand and dismisses the pit, raising the wererat back up to lay in the swamp water. "Good choice. What don't you start by confirming for our friends here that you are working for Saul and Ziphras."

Sighing with relief as the last rat-fiend surrendered, Vark urged Allegro up to the edge of the pit, but stopped well short of the hairy half-man. Turning to Pluck as he started firing off questions, Vark gasped as his fears were finally confirmed. It was one thing to suspect the man, but as the reality of the situation set in, it became quite clear to him. Saul really had set them up. "I can't say I'm surprised Saul was behind all of this. But this Ziphras, who is he?"

Ziphras is a crimelord. His crew is mainly wererats.

"I've never seen this Saul, but Ziphras, well, I'm working on working for him, if you catch my drift. We were supposed to prove our worth by taking you guys out." The man lets out a scoff. "I don't know how much you want to know. We were supposed to give you all a taste of our knives, leave you behind and become full members in the gang."
