Tamiro, noticing the man's sudden lack of movement, swing his wakizashi and strikes down the other human thug ganging up on him.

Mazra lunges forward with his rapier and slides his weapon neatly into the thug's throat. Saul also attempts to fight, adopting a stance allowing him to use his key-hand as a dagger in the traditional rapier-and-dagger style, but overshoots the man and misses. However, Mazra's cut is deep enough that the thug quickly falls over.

Vara begins summoning a centipede.

Looking in surprise momentarily at the foes unsteady and unusual attack he spits, not taking the advantage, preferring to block a blow from one of his allies.

"Pick up your blade fool! Watashi wa hi busō no aite o daun katto sa remasen!"

His blades bite into the man, as Tamiro laughs.

"Is this the best you muster Varissians! Watashi ni chōsen o o wasurenaku!"

Tamiro's katana slices through the man's light armor. The blade obviously severs an artery, as blood immediately begins collecting in a pool on the ground. It spreads until it's about five feet across. Tamiro, noticing the man's sudden lack of movement, swing his wakizashi and strikes down the other human thug ganging up on him.

Saul moves toward Mazra, adopts a fighting stance with his rapier and calls out to Mazra, "Flank him so he's distracted" and waits for the right moment.

The thug near Mazra (S14) lets out a bloodcurdling scream as he sees the katana slice through his ally. He attacks Mazra with as much vigor as he can, slicing erratically.

Following Saul's instructions, Mazra will take a step and attack one of the Thugs.

Maintaining his performance, Vark casts a spell at the two remaining thieves attacking Tamiro. "Tamiro, watch your footing!" He then moves to put his back up against the wall. The half-orc woman attempts to catch herself as the floor suddenly turns glossy underneath her, but she slides and falls prone.

Up above, Old Scratch disappears again.

Wow, looks like the gangsters went down fast! ;b So, would Vara be able to summon the centipede into the partial square, X 16, since all the other thugs have fallen? Otherwise, it appears next to Tamrio and takes a hardy bite of the half-orc. I don't know if Vara would be able to command such a primitive creature to attack non-lethally...

Looking around at the blood and bodies, Tamiro grunts, "I can only think of one person who hates the boss enough to openly attack us. But why now?"

Wouldn't the centipede appear and act first on the initiative for round 4? It doesn't really matter; I just wanted to see one thug's reaction to a centipede appearing out of the air to strike at her! ;D

EDIT: Nevermind. I see that Tamiro's strike was an attack of opportunity.

Vara completes the summoning ritual so that a great human-sized centipede crawls out of thin air near the fallen half-orc. Vara moves toward the great vermin (if possible on her turn), crooning, speaking soothing words, and concentrating on the magical link with the creature in the hopes that it doesn't tear apart what is obvious prey, sprawled out and vulnerable before it.

Vara would dismiss the centipede, and with a regretful glance at the woman whose flesh had been torn, she runs to the kitchen as soon as the other crash was heard. Her first concern is that none of the kitchen staff is hurt, threatened or missing.

Moving to the kitchen to check things out. Vara could have two more summons, though those take time. Since she probably didn't have time to don her armor, she isn't going to be good for melee. Would it be acceptable to assume that she was able to grab her sling and bullets on the way out her corners for a little ranged support?

Mazra will lay a hand upon Nel, "Cayden heal Nel, she is a fine brave warrior."

Mazra's CLW on Nel: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

On Mazra's initiative, he will cast CLW in place of Magic Weapon to heal Nel for 8 points of damage.

Looking into the Saul's office beyond where the thugs are creating a choke point, Vark notices flames spring up from the windows and into the room, "Oh no, they've lit the Goblin on fire!!"

Maintain bardic performance as a free action. Casting Silent Image as standard action. The spell description says the image is 5 10' cubes at CL 2, so I'll say Vark creates enough spots of illusory fire at the visible window and in Saul's office (room 25) behind the thugs, appearing to be slowly creeping towards them. DC 15 Will negates.

Both of the half-orcs attempt attacks of opportunity, but Tamiro is too quick and dodges out of the way of both of their swings.

Jasker, simply not caring about the fire, shrugs and attempts to punch Tamiro again, grumbling, "I'll get to that girl and finish her off, you small man." This time, his punch connects with Tamiro's skull, and the clear crack of bone rings out. However, as Tamiro moves in reaction, Jasker strikes with his a swift kick to Tamiro's abdomen dealing 9 points of damage total.

Vark, right now Jasker isn't interacting with the flames. He, frankly, doesn't care.

Round 2 Recap

Gritting her teeth as the first assault came uncomfortably close to removing her left eye, Nel was thankful that the main grunt was unable to land a blow. "Tsk. Is this the best that Zincher's got?" Nel taunts while cutting into the goon at the end of the hallway.

The half-orc Nel injured roars as he swings ruthlessly at her, stabbing his sword deep into her side.

Jasker screams at him, "Make room for me!" and the half-orc steps to the side.

Looking into the Saul's office beyond where the thugs are creating a choke point, Vark notices flames spring up from the windows and into the room, "Oh no, they've lit the Goblin on fire!!"

Tamiro decides to move into the combat. Taking his best to defend himself as he moves past the combatants. Trying to turn and swing at the man using his fists, he misjudges egregiously, swinging wide.

Vara moves into position in the hallway where she can provide support and emergency healing.

Mazra will lay a hand upon Nel, "Cayden heal Nel, she is a fine brave warrior."

Keep in mind that everyone besides Vark believes the illusion of flames.

Feeling Mazra's divine magic course through her, Nel feels her bruised ribs heal painlessly. "Mulțumesc, Mazra." She says gratefully, before stepping into the room that the half-orcs were hiding in.

"It will do you well not to underestimate us." Nel growls at the thugs, as she attacks the man in the corner.

Guys, please don't forget to include the buffs from inspire courage/flagbearer. While I do enjoy playing Vark, buffs are pretty much all he does, so if you don't use them I'd prefer to play another character so that I could ensure a fair contribution to our party's efforts.

If I were you I would factor in his buffs into my standard attack modifiers, because you are much more likely to have them active as not. I put a summary of the beneficial effects at the end of every post for a reason! Don't make Vark a sad gnome.

My apologies. I did forget about the buffs. And they are most welcome. Attack is 24 for 6 points of damage then. Your suggestion is a good one. I tend to refer to my own stats when posting. And I do suffer from a major CRS disorder. ;)

Nel's blade flows from above to about waist-high, ending with a squelch in the half-orc's chest. Already breathing heavily from his earlier injuries, he lets out a few rattling breaths before he slumps over.

Tamiro needs to post, then it'll be Jasker and Vara!
