Nebbin Elsbet |

I thought that saves were one of those items I was supposed to DM roll behind the scenes so I rolled them, and both rolls were stinkers, so both Nebbin and Regeris are poisoned (And must continue to roll each round until they save, so let me know if you have a strong preference because a roll is due for each of you on the Imps' turn). And yep, I remembered the DR for both Nebbin and your opponents. :)
Couple thoughts:
I typically have my players make their own saves unless I have to know the results to move forward with my actions as GM (in which case I do take care of it myself). It may not matter much early on, but I think especially later when we're high level and you may have to make a LOT of saves you'll find it's much easier to just type "save or XXX" as opposed to tracking that much more information.
Also, again I'm personally OK if you'd rather do it differently, but typically I think GMs roll on the boards, which can help players doublecheck them (my players point out if I've forgotten some buff/debuff in the rolls).
So for example, here's a recent set of rolls I just posted in a combat (granted, a much higher-level game):
Will vs. Pems.: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Quinn caster level check: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
10d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 5, 4, 2, 6, 5, 6, 6) = 41
Will: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 14 - 4 = 30
Scythe: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (2) + 22 = 24
2d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 1) + 9 = 14
Scythe: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37
2d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2) + 9 = 15
Scythe: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Dang, wasted two nat 20s!
Again, I don't mind if you want to do it differently, but this way lets us see that you've made the checks.

As for Knowledge checks, to try to speed things along in my games, I typically ask players what knowledge they'd like to glean most of the time (so spellcasters typically ask about weaknesses, SR, saves, while more physical characters ask about DR). I've got that listed in the campaign tab and can refer back to it whenever they make their checks. Not sure if that'd save you time instead of determining randomly.

Is it just me or have the boards been having maintenance issues lately? Seems like half the time I try to check posts they're down. Maybe I'm just getting unlucky.
I'm ok with passing the saves on to you guys - that's how I've run games in the past, but I thought you and Neziana directed me that you wanted them DMPC'd in previous posts. In that regard I have no strong preference except to say that I would insist that you made the rolls in cases of Save or die/get paralyzed type situations. So on that end I'm happy to defer your saves back to you.
On the other hand, for traditional DM rolls I do have a preference to keep the rolls 'behind the screen', but am also happy to start creating spoilers with mods I added to rolls that pertain to player abilities and tactical situations (that you know about). That way maybe we get both the 'behind the screen' effect and you also can get a fuzzy that I'm not forgetting your hard-fought for bumps and mods.
And I'll think on the knowledge recommendation. I've run it randomly for a long time but you have a good point wrt areas of focus. It makes sense that if a fighter-type knows anything at all about a creature it would be something affecting its combat stats.
I ran an archivist character once, where most of the benefit I gave to the rest of the party came in the form of knowledge about monsters and bumps to resist their abilities, and the random thing was a bit clunky.

DM Luke |

I'll move us along tonight after soccer and DMPC Tassira's action if she hasn't posted by then (if the boards are up). :/

They're updating the site some, but you're not alone in having issues.
As for saves, I think the DMs of most of the games I'm in (including those I run) ask the players to make most saving throws. While I'm happy with that system, I'd have absolutely no problem with you rolling them behind the screen. Good quick pacing seems paramount to making PbP games more fun, IMHO.

Site's been brutal lately. I hope they get it fixed soon, since it's definitely tough to keep up with games when you can't post at your usual times.
A "mods spoiler" would be appreciated (also, sometimes when I want a secret roll, I'll just do straight d20 and I know what it's for and what modifiers are added/subtracted). I'm fine with however you want to do it, though.

Kayleigh Fairwind |

I was out of town when this came out, so I don't think I ever announced my first contracted work for Paizo. Pretty excited about it. :)
Finally picked this up a few weeks back but have only given it a quick flip-through so far. Care to share what parts you wrote?

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Thanks motteditor!
Heh--gotta remember to put that in my backpack so I'll have something to read at the library next time I have to wait 3-4 hours for Paizo's site to function.

DM Luke |

The site crashed again as I was posting. I was never able to see the post hit the thread last night. And then I got three! And they're a little different, too. Cool.

DM Luke |

Backing off for the moment and giving Tassira a chance to post, and of course giving Nebbin a chance to misunderstand Kayleigh's smooches.
I backed Pathfinder Kingmaker kickstarter project this morning. Baldur's Gate comes to Pathfinder! It's a wait of 1 year still, but that looks like some CRPG goodness.

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Heh, I figure this whole misunderstanding's all Kayleigh's fault. I've meant for her to buy a healer's kit for a long while now but never quite got around to doing it. If she had that, she could've used a poultice or compress of some sort to try to remove the poison instead of having to suck it out, but No....
In a totally unrelated vein, if Hollywood decides to do a remake of "Dumb & Dumber," they should seriously consider Kayleigh & Nebbin for the main roles.

DM Luke |

Suddenly in my imagination I'm hearing You're the Inspiration as the background music for this fight scene.

DM Luke |

We're taking a break to visit the Smoky Mountains for a week, which may mean I have more time to post during the day (expecting a little rain I heard). But first I have to get there, meaning we're on the road all day tomorrow with 2 teens and 2 lab retrievers. Watch for us in the news, but probably not on the thread. :)

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Have fun and stay safe!

DM Luke |

The mountains are Smoky and the wifi is a little bit flaky, but we are transported.

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Just a quick note: In addition to my usual lack of internet access on Sunday, I won't be able to post on this coming Tuesday as well.
Happy 4th of July to those of us in the U.S.!

DM Luke |

My aunt's vacation home in Franklin, NC. We scrum about once a year with my sister-in-law's family up here. Hiking and being lazy for a week.

Regeris Smythe |

And on my end, it's Canada Day weekend so time to post is limited.

DM Luke |

Regeris, your use of ooc on the location made me think what a good idea it would be to generally linkify the location headers I use with relevant map info from the game site. We'll see how long I can keep that up. :)

Regeris Smythe |

Ooh, I like that idea and will use it for my own games then. I stole the using ooc in headers from another GM who does a lot of stylistic formatting. Anything to keep reminding players of where they are and what they're doing.

Nebbin Elsbet |

Hey guys, just FYI, work is hitting me hard right now. I've also got my folks coming to visit over the weekend -- Long story short, my posting may be spotty through the weekend (though I'm hoping I can sneak in some time tomorrow and/or Friday).

DM Luke |

I'll make my own excuses for an indeterminate stretch of time coming up. I'm changing employment in the next couple of weeks, and while I don't think it will affect my ability to post, it's a bit of an unknown until I'm there. I've never been a workday poster anyway, so I hope the game suffers no ill effects. Time will tell.
Hope the family weekend went well, Nebbin. Completely understand about work. If you go silent we'll assume Nebbin is cow-eyeing Kayleigh. 8)

Regeris Smythe |

Oof, new jobs are stressful. Good luck!
Incidentally I am here, but waiting in limbo until the other side conversations are resolved.

DM Luke |

Yep. I'm going to make some assumptions about timeframes, put a bow on it and move us all along together tonight.
And thanks for the well-wishes on the job. I have a good feeling about this one.

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Good luck with the new job, Luke.
I'm going to have very small posting windows today and tomorrow (afternoon) due to storms in my area and a laptop backpack that's not waterproof. Should be back to usual by Friday.

Kayleigh Fairwind |

[Stan Marsh voice]"I learned something today...."[/Stan Marsh voice]
"Step aside! Let the Guard through!" She calls out.
Diplomacy?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
I would think it would be Intimidate, honestly. Diplomacy takes a minute.
This has been bugging me for the last couple of days, because the use of Intimidate causes the target to become less friendly to you once "Happy Time" is over, which I don't think should apply when you simply ask someone to step aside so you can get through. So when Luke called for a Diplomacy check from Kayleigh this morning, I re-read the Diplomacy rules. It doesn't have to take a full minute IF the target is already Indifferent or better: In this case, you can take a round or more (GM's discretion) to make a simple request ("Step aside, please").

DM Luke |

I spent a tiny bit of time playing with google sites cms while on vacation and its support for html controls. For some district pages a button should appear in the sw corner of the map that offers a neighborhood view of the district. Old Korvosa, for instance has this and some site descriptions written out to boot. Other districts will get this treatment as the game extends to them (and I have a chance to make the maps).

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Another question on leveling up: Since it's occurring mid-day with us planning a visit to Eel's End for this evening...how do you (Luke) want to handle this? Kayleigh prays for her spells in the morning, so I assume she wouldn't get a shiny new 2nd-level spell until the following day. Add on hps, skill points, and other stuff immediately, however?

Tassira Vantyev |

Kayleigh Fairwind |

Quick Note
Kayleigh now has access to masterwork transformation, so if you nag her not to pray for spells to care for the poor, we can use some of our loot to upgrade our weapons and armor.
Just realized that Kayleigh's already apparently able to cast 2nd-level spells, as she was allegedly casting gentle repose on Amistan and Zellara's head for a while there. For some reason I thought that spell was 1st-level. Oopsie!
